When that meeting was complete. We knew this was our chosen company! Anthony met with us at our home and helped guide us through the entire landscape design process. His landscape portfolio wowed in pictures so when he came with a plan that fit our style, we knew it would work for our family. We needed our landscape design in phases. So we decided to save a few large items like a pergola and fountain for a later date. What was most impressive is that he was attentive and payed close attention to the details that were important to us, and helped us lay the foundation for those future additions. My favorite part was getting to meet separately at the plant nursery to choose the plants and another time to select the travertine. His insight was invaluable. It was a great experience. This company is amazing!! We bought a new build home in Chandler and every day we drove out of our subdivision we saw our neighbor's front yard and we marveled at its layout and beauty. We scheduled an appointment with Azul Landscaping for a bid on our backyard as it is new construction. Anthony was scheduled to come to our home Nov. 4th at noon. An hour or two prior to this appointment Anthony let us know he'd had a family emergency and wouldn't make it, but he'd come the following day, Nov. 5th. On Nov. 5th, Anthony again notified us that he'd be taking a few days off due to family. But he'd come the following week. The next week Anthony contacted us to come at 11 on Nov. 12th. We asked if he could come at 2pm as we had an appointment at 11. He said he would see us at 2pm on the 12th. I called Azul after being blown off by several other companies and Anthony was super quick to respond and come up with a gorgeous design for a backyard fireplace. Price was a little bit on the high side but I felt so confident in what they were going to be able to accomplish and the timeline that I felt it was worth the money. Working with Anthony Hermosillo at AZUL Design and Landscape was a good experience. He listens to your ideas, returns quality designs, and prepares contracts that are thorough and easy to understand. He is honest and his crews provide quality work at a fair price. I would highly recommend both Anthony and his firm for your landscape design and construction needs. As with any construction project, the owner must accept the reality that the contractor and crew will likely have multiple projects at other locations under way. To that end, both the owner and contractor must accept responsibility for communicating about crew delays, weather problems, materials availability, change orders and availability and management of subcontractors. To that end, I spoke with Anthony at the conclusion of our project and along with the positives I suggested, and he agreed, that his communication about expected completion milestones could have been better. Since this was a first back yard landscape of a new home for us, I would offer the following: What we did right. Obtained multiple bids. This allows a good comparison of contractor personalities, design ideas, costs and construction materials. Along with those bids I visited recently completed sites and talked with the owners and about their experiences. Don't be afraid to ask for references and then check them out. Installed rain gutters and had the down spouts directed into underground drainage pipes to minimize side yard flooding. Do this first (if needed) because pipe trenching may need to be routed under areas to be covered with pavers, plants or other landscape materials. Asked the bidding contractors if they are licensed, insured and bonded. Get copies of documents and then verify their efficacy and standing with the state contractors board and insurance agencies. The state contractor's website includes not only the licensee's standing but reviews from customers as well. Read online reviews. Added provisions for more hose bibs, lighting, shade, drainage and storage for yard equipment and patio furniture in your design. Make sure you have money available for the inevitable change orders that occur during any landscape project. Make sure you agree to the payment schedule and the completion milestones tied to those payments. What I'd do differently. Include not only a start date but a project completion date consistent with the agreed payment milestones as part of your contract. Provisions for weather events and materials availability should be discussed and agreed to. You may experience problems that require immediate action so be sure to have both primary and secondary contacts (english speaking if necessary), phone numbers and email addresses for both your contractor and the crew chief for your project. Before signing a contract, visit as many nurseries, neighborhood yards and review your HOA approved plant listings and develop a desired plant list for your design. read more

Anthony was highly recommended to me as both my brothers used Azul Landscaping for their back yard overhauls and they were very pleased with the work completed. Tony came out and was VERY helpful with offering ideas to completely transform my back yard that had a 30 year old red wood deck that was just falling apart. Tony's crew was top notch, they were always very polite and went above and beyond to make everything fall into place. There were a couple hiccup's along the way, which is to be expected with such a large transformation but Tony stood by his word and went above and beyond to made sure everything was completed at 110%. Tony even came out on his own time when I needed assistance on changing my watering schedule as I forgot how to use the sprinkler timer. I would HIGHLEY recommend using Azul Landscaping as Tony and his team can make your dreams come true. I bought the house I grew up in and to be able to go in my backyard now and look at what was done just takes my breath away! Azul Landscaping installed my landscaping and pool last year. Although the workmanship was adequate their scheduling was terrible. It took them six weeks to get the permits for my pool. Anthony (the owner) actually told the pool plumber to make multiple trips out to slow the project down. Near the end of the project we experienced a six week delay. Side fencing had to be installed to enclose the pool. The fencing had to match our existing rear iron fence. I gave Anthony the specs and manufacturer info at the start of the project in February, when the pool was completed in June we had to wait an additional six weeks for the fencing before the pool could be filled. In summarizing, a project that should have been completed in three months took six months to complete. read more

We used Tony for a major backyard remodel. 2000 sq ft of pavers, new BBQ, firepit, fireplace, and bench. We also had them put in hundreds of feet of french drains to correct previous existing conditions. The final product is excellent, I am very pleased. Getting there was a bit of a struggle at times, but Tony was always willing to roll up his sleeves and solve problems as they came up. Tony always fixed the issues and never complained. His positive and customer focused attitude are his strong points. Doing a full landscape remodel is hard work and some mistakes and poor communication happened along the way, but the end result was excellent and Tony never said no, always had a smile on his face, and always was committed to making the customer (my wife) happy. read more
