I called Pelican for a second opinion and rather than just push new hardware, they did their due diligence to pinpoint the problem.They figured out that not enough power was being supplied to the pool panel and it ended being a bad breaker that was supplying too little voltage for the pump to operate. They replaced our aged-out pool surface from plaster to micro pebble which included treating the concrete and adding a curative to the pebble mix. They installed hand-set iridescent step markers and new directionals, an aerator fitting, safety drain covers, a hand rail and new tile at the water line. It was quite the project and they did it within the projected timeline. Jessica pleasantly took our original call, setting the tone at the beginning and arranged sales rep Brandon to come to the house. He truly embodies the Business Development Ninja title on his business card. He impressed us with his demeaner, transparency and thoroughness at our initial meeting and in their showroom/design center where we chose our colors from plenty of options for the new surface, tiles, handrail and step markers. Project Manager Shawn updated us nearly daily on what to expect and when. As busy as he was, he promptly answered our questions and concerns in detail with good humor and respect and kept everything on schedule which transpired as he described. I had the receipt and did not use one of the vest. The vest was in its original packaging, unopened and not used. They changed me a restocking fee and said it's on the receipt allowing them to charge the fee. I began to read the exact words off the receipt to the arrogant stock clerk who continued to interrupt me until I asked he to allow me to finish. The exact wording on the receipt reads: "Sun Devil offers a 7 day return policy on unopened and unused merchandise only. Pool parts, pool cleaners and major equipment are subject to a 20% restocking fee when returned in unused and unopened condition." The kids floating vest is merchandise and certainly does not fall under the category of pool parts, pool cleaners or major equipment. The young man's attitude was not acceptable. He tried to explain that he did me a favor by only charging me a 10% restock fee. I informed him that he either hasn't read his own receipt policy or is woefully misinformed. After I called it out on him, he offered to refund the 10% he charged. I told him to forget about it but that he should either change the wording on their receipts or read and understand exactly what their policy is regarding refunds. I will not be purchasing any pool products from this store ever again.

The owners of the three companies came to the property to talk with me about what I needed done. Peyton, the owner of Element Pools and Spas, was the only one who gave me input that caused me to do more research and to understand much better what else needed to be done. I actually had to call the other two companies and ask them to update their quote to include the other things that I now knew had to be done. I was already leaning toward giving the job to Element Pools and Spas, but they were the last to submit a quote. Had their quote been several hundred dollars more, I would have picked them to do the work. What a surprise when I got the quote from them. They were the least expensive! I dealt mostly with Mason, the project manager, who was very proactive in communicating to me a couple days in advance the proposed schedule for each phase of the project. I also dealt with two other people in their office via email, Eric and Jennifer. They facilitated the billing process. The crews that did the work knew what they were doing. It was a happy crew!
