Gary and the team at AZ Kayaks are awesome. The online booking process is super fast and easy, as is getting loaded up and returning the rentals. They have everything you need to haul a kayak or SUP on the roof of your car. I've rented 3 or 4 times now and I feel very comfortable with transporting up to the lake solo. This store is a super convenient location and opens early enough to beat the crowds and heat. I highly recommend if you're going up to Saguaro Lake. Check out the full moon rentals! Five star service and value! Gary helped us set-up 2 single kayaks on our Jeep. He gave great recommendation for launching at Canyon Lake just 35 min from shop. So much better renting here than the 2-hour trips offered by other companies close to lakes. Gary also helped us unload the kayak upon our return. He was very friendly from beginning to end! The best paddle boarding rental experience. The owner is super nice and helps load the boards onto the car. The boards can be loaded onto any car I'm pretty sure. Price is reasonable, we were able to rent it for a few hours. We had the best day on the lake, if you're not gonna stand on the board then the board can easily fit 2 people. First time Kayaking! We were very nervous since we have no experience, we weren't even sure how to tie down the kayaks. Cassidy was super helpful guided us through everything with ease. Really made us comfortable and definitely prepared us for an amazing new hobby. The owner was also very helpful called him ahead of time to clear some details regarding delivery and such. He was very helpful and reassuring even gave us suggestions to places that are more secluded and private! He even blew up 2 of our personal paddleboards and helped us get them all 4 stacked up and tied down on our SUV. Would highly recommend. BUYER BEWARE. An employee negligently tied down two kayaks to my vehicle. Instead of going through the frame of the car, he used the roof rack. Upon turning right on to Ellsworth Rd., both kayaks toppled down and over and were hanging on the left side of my vehicle, blocking the driver's side door. We were very fortunate this did not happen when we were going faster or on a freeway. I was able to drive back to the shop where Tyler (acting owner) and two employees came out to help take them off and secure them again. This time, Tyler told the two employees to be sure to secure them through the frame. The issue is the kayaks caused damage all over the left side of my car. At the time of the incident, Tyler in person and via text said he would take care of all damages as witnessed by employees, me, and my boyfriend. Within a few days, I went to get a bid and sent it to both Tyler and Gary (new owner). Soon, Tyler unexpectedly changed his role from acting owner to acting manager and said he didn't have permission to approve any repair quotes. Next, Gary then said he is not able to pay for the damages saying he is a small business, offering to pay for a buff out of the scratches (some of them cannot be buffed out and have to be repainted) or my insurance deductible (a claim on my insurance...no), and referred to the waiver I signed. I asked for their insurance information via text. I received no response. I called and spoke to Gary and asked again for the insurance information. He refused to give me their insurance information saying, "I'm not going to give you that information," and again referred to the waiver. I don't know why he would refuse to give me his insurance information unless he doesn't have any. At this time, I understand these instances are rare; however, when something like this occurs, it is common sense to do the right thing, and unfortunately, at this time, I cannot recommend AZ Kayaks or Canyon Paddle Company to do the right thing under the current circumstances. read more
