I have gone here several times in the 5 yrs I have been living here. They will never see my face again. The exterior has no appeal but I used to go for the food. Service was spot on but the staff lately has a condescending tone when answering your questions. When I was served my fajitas the waitress said our table was all 'set'. I then mentioned I was missing my flour fajitas & she told me to calm down, keep my shirt on & breathe. I was with 3 other ladies for lunch today & in no one way did I raise my tone in front of my friends. It was very embarrassing for me to be spoken to in this manner in front of my party. I used the women's restroom & the facilities could be cleaner. The soap dispenser was also out of soap. I will be patronizing San Jose on Route 27, Clermont from now on. read more

We had Jessica as our server, she never said hello or introduced herself, we saw her name on the bill. I asked for water with lemon, 3 times I asked, didn't get it till after our meals were served, got a bunch of sliced limes and 3 times asked for hot sauce, she asked green sauce? No! Got green sauce and no hot sauce! Jessica never asked us how our meals were, never checked if we needed refills, it's customary 2 bites or 2 minutes to check back with guests how everything is. No personality, no smile, definitely not a good server and inattentive. Food was okay at best. I like the old menu better. Too many good Mexicans' restaurants around Clermont, we won't go back. This is a fantastic authentic Mexican restaurant when you're sick to death of Taco Bell and the like. My family and I really enjoy coming here. Everyone is very friendly and the portions are large enough that you can always take some home after. I couldn't decide between the pineapple fajita quesadilla or the straight up pineapple fajitas, the waiter was awesome and advised me to go with the fajitas because they were packed with more flavor. I'm glad he helped me! It comes with one plate stuffed with chicken, peppers, onions and grilled pineapple cubes and the other plate is your rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and pico. The rice was a little dry and bland but everything else was fantastic! The meal also comes with chips and salsa which is very good. We paid extra for queso but I don't recommend it. It takes like queso from a jar and still had chunks of unmelted cheese in it. We also got fried ice cream for dessert which was very good! If they ask you if you prefer a booth or table, choose the table. The booths are really small and tight. It will make any person large or small claustrophobic. read more

AY! Jalisco is a real authentic Mexican restaurant. This is not your Tex-Mex food, but the real freshly made to order Mexican food. Unfortunately, due to limited seating, we were unable to dine in because of COVID-19. My wife had the taquitos with pork tamale with refried beans and rice. I had the 3 shredded beef tacos, with pico de gallo and refried beans and rice. The food was hot and delicious. We had to eat it in my truck, but the overall preparation was very good including a bag of freshly made tortilla chips with the side of salsa. read more

My wife and I had passed this restaurant many times and finally decided to give it a try as it seemed to be busy all the time. We were greeted quickly, seated quickly, got our drinks quickly, then things went south. Another 10 minutes they brought menus for us to look at. 10 minutes later came back for the order. Then a 35-minute wait for the lukewarm meal to be presented to us. It was evident the meals had been sitting for a while before they were brought out to us as the meat was barely above room temp. My wife got the 4 Carne Asada tacos and I got the Tampenquena meal. The beef that my wife and I were served had ZERO flavor. It was not marinated or "spiced" in any way. It seemed as if it had been marinated in water if anything. NO FLAVOR AT ALL... 100% bland. The beans were typical out of the can, water 'em down a little so they're runny beans. I will admit that I liked the salsa and chips, the rice and the guacamole, and the Coca-Cola was good. So $40 for a meal that tasted worse than wet cardboard, with fairly poor service. The waitress never checked on us to see if everything was "OK" or if we needed something else. She KNEW she served us hog slop and was too embarrassed to come back by our table. As far as Mexican cuisine, Ay Jalisco has the best all around taste of any in the Orlando area. I had the skirt steak and chicken enchilada combo. The rice was great and the refried beans were perfect. The flavor of the red sauce on the enchilada and the flavor of the skirt steak was soooo good! My husband had the Mocajete and he said it was the best he has had..and he orders it at every Mexican restaurant we go to. read more

What a great place for Mexican food. The place was hopping on a Tuesday night. We had a 5-10 minute wait for two people. Our server, Roberto, was clearly in command and knew how to serve his customers. Refreshing drinks were brought promptly. Our dinners were large portions and very tasty. Roberto checked back on us and offered to refill drinks and asked about our meals he also cleared away dirty dishes We were even serenaded by a wandering guitar player working for tips. yup ! i have had better. one visit and not a temptation to return. so, it went like the breeze, 'just ok'. previous reviewers also tell the tale of inconsistent service and food quality. three male adults and all have fajitas with 2 waters and 1 cola comes to over 40usd. no offer of refills and we arrived just after happy hour @ 530p. quantity of food was fine ( we stuffed, with some left over ) and the taste was not bad. the add on charges and menu confusion leaves me reminded of a struggling restaurant and not a customer focused eatery. poor management ( training and execution ) can never fake it ! if you go, play the game ...or not, you choose. if every customer starts asking "is there an extra charge ? " they will be force trained by the customer. and if you see a tip added, like in europe, just pay it or if you will feel like it is too much or too little, give them your choice. never doubt that they KNOW for sure that there is not a 5 star mexican ayce buffet killin' it near clermont florida and that the bar is only so high to get your money and not your satisfaction. no reason to make the effort to return at these levels. read more

We would have gone back because this had been our 4th time there since we moved in the area, but we noticed in small print on the bottom of the bill that for a party of 4 they had added a tip. Talked to a neighbor that was the one that recomended the place and he did not know that. I looked for my old receipts and found one from the previous week. Needless to say we were amazed at the audacity because they ad a tip and we tipped 20% so now they have a 35% tip. I have been going to Ay Jalisco for about 3 years now. It is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Central Florida! I have tried to find another restaurant to match their mole enchiladas- but no one comes close! You are greeted with chips and salsa upon arrival. The salsa is super fresh with just a touch of heat to make it addictive! I always order the mole enchiladas! The portions are giant and it is served with beans, rice and salad. I can never finish my entire plate, but I want to!! They have good drink specials and the service is courteous. This is the best family owned Mexican restaurant I have found anywhere in Florida. The salsa is always fresh and full of flavor with nice ripe tomatoes. No canned diced tomatoes in this place! Plus, the artwork on the walls is authentic and nicely done. Prices are decent and you can eat a nice differ for $10 if your tastes are simple, or splurge on some great steak or seafood and spend maybe twice that. But I always get the Huevos Majuaca, a savory blend of shredded beef and scrambled eggs. Sometimes the telenovelas on the two small TVs can be a little distracting, but the usually aren't too loud unless you are in the corner booth right under them. read more

This place was pretty good. I ordered a beef burrito special. It was really meaty and tasty, and had some kind of pickled pepper topping on the side that I really liked. My wife ordered a mexican pizza, which she hated. It sounds like a strange complaint, but it had too much cheese on it, which killed the crispness. There used to be a great Mexican restaurant called Santiago's up at the Citrus Tower and it was a sad day when they closed years ago, however, Ay! Jalisco is an acceptable substitute and it's minutes from home which is a plus. We've been quite a few times, most recently on Halloween night. I had pork carnitas (?) and the standard rice and beans and my daughter had a beef chimichanga. Both meals were really good, and my pork was seasoned just right and had enough moisture but not so much that it seemed greasy. I've had the shredded pork at other restaurants that is just too dry or overly greasy, but theirs is just right and the guacamole is the best I can find in the Clermont area, it has a creamy texture but with a few chunks of avocado to keep it interesting and just enough heat that you can enjoy it, but no pain. :P I always get the house margarita and it's ok, but nothing to write home about. I'd imagine that 'ritas with top shelf tequila are pretty good, I just can't bring myself to pay that much. The service and staff are always friendly and attentive, though on one visit a server referred to my daughter as my granddaughter, which if I were easily offended would have been pretty bad...I must have looked worse than normal that night. All in all, a consistently good restaurant, that's not crazy expensive and has decent food in a perfect location for me. read more
