I want to the biggest thanks to the Axis Construction crew! Our community could not afford the balcony repairs that a construction management firm was pushing on us. A friend of mine who is on Board for her condo referred me to Axis. They did an exhaustive walk with us and educated us on several ways they could reduce our costs by doing the work more efficiently. They helped us avoid unnecessary repairs and a special assessment that would have been thousands of dollars. Our board had weekly reports and regular town hall meetings with residents and their communication was amazing. We were able to save a ton of money and avoided increased maintenance costs in the future. They even worked with our manager to build those savings into our reserve study and budget. We can't recommend them enough for their transparency and communication on top of the savings. read more

Our association recently used Axis to repair our sidewalks. David Yang was amazing and helped lead this project for us here in San Francisco. As many know, getting permits in SF is a nightmare, and David expedited our permits with both the City of SF and the Port of SF. What was going to take up to 6 months was cut down to 2 months! The paver team was amazing, and the project should have been about a 1-month project. They were able to cut that down to a 2-week period! Again, with the new leadership at Axis, they were able to help our association fix our sidewalks quickly. Our Board is beyond satisfied with their work at our property, and we will be using them in the future. I wish I could give these guys 6 stars. Also, kudos to Nohemi for speaking with our Board. You are really professional, and we knew we were in good hands after that meeting. read more

Great communication and service! Steve has been very helpful throughout the process of getting the job done

My HOA used this company for structural repair. I was informed that it would be two days worth of repairs. I was also told they didn't need access to my patio. The employees decided they needed access to my patio and took off my lock to the gate and broke in. The two days worth of work was suppose to be consecutive days. Instead, they showed up on the first day as scheduled and the second day they didn't show up. Instead , they rescheduled themselves to another day without my knowledge. I informed my HOA with photos and videos of them breaking in. I requested that they come out to fix the lock. I didn't receive a phone call to schedule a time that was convenient. I didn't receive an apology or anything. The company sent someone to fix it but did a crap job. Horrible customer service. Not trustworthy. No Holiday kindness either as these occurred recently (December 12- 17). read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel like people should know how this company treated my elderly mother and our family. The workers and management were completely unprofessional and disrespectful throughout the entire process. Instead of showing patience or understanding, they were rude, dismissive, and acted like we were a burden for asking simple questions about the work being done. No family--especially seniors--should ever be spoken to or treated this way by a business that's supposed to serve the community. We were left feeling disrespected and taken advantage of. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a construction company that values kindness, honesty, and respect. read more

Axis Construction was contracted by our condo HOA to do building siding repairs and new windows installation because of long term water damaged. Our unit was one that needed to have its windows replaced. We had made-to-fit, up/down shades on 11 windows that had to be removed for the work to be done. Axis did the window replacements and rebuilt the window frames, but when we had the shades reinstalled three of them were a little too large for the new frames and did not keep streetlight out of the bedrooms. We had a significant expense for two shades to be cut to fit the frames and one shade that had to be replaced. We contacted Axis and asked them to reimburse us for the extra expense. I was concerned that they would resist, but instead they were honest and responsible and fully reimbursed us. Remodeling construction is not a perfect science. I was impressed and pleased that Axis did the right thing with us. read more

Three words describe Axis Construction's owner and workers: knowledgeable, honest and integrity. I am on the board of an HOA in Redwood City, CA. After suing our developer, we sought out three companies who could provide bids to correct our construction defects. Axis's bid was the most reasonable and fair. In fact, we have since discovered that Axis has saved us several million dollars by choosing them. We are almost complete with our project and they have been one of the most responsive companies I have dealt with. Their superintendent and project manager are always available, their construction team is polite and professional, and they go out of their way to be as helpful as possible. I highly recommend Axis. read more

Our HOA called Axis Construction to come out to provide us with a quote to replace 2 (two) fence boards on a patio fence. They came out about 2 weeks after our first request and provided the price of $1,084.00! When I called their office to speak with the estimator, Kevin Powell to see if there was possibly a typo, Kevin got very upset with me and said "If you're going to come off like a f*cking d*ck then we don't want your business!" I guess the past reviews speak for themselves about this company. We will never do any business with them at any of our properties ever again. We have also reported them to the BBB as well as the CSLB for these business practices. read more

I am shocked at the bad reviews of this company. We had a claim against our original builders and got hoodwinked by a manager (who we dismissed) to hire a construction company to do a survey of damages. This company missed the majority of our problems, so we called in Axis. I will tell you that I have never worked with such a caring and ethical company! We had full crews who were so clean and thorough and did some minor repairs when delivery trucks caused damages to our buildings. They finished all the repairs we requested and did other massive jobs, like replacing the horrible foam shutters that the builders used. I hate to use "above and beyond" because it doesn't adequately describe the commitment this company will have should your HOA need bids for large construction work. 249 happy owners can't be wrong. Axis, you are the best! read more

Fair prices, competent workers, great cust. service! They answered all our questions.

Axis has been working on my building for what seems like an eternity. At first I used to hear my neighbors complaining about them and would think "oh come on! They are doing their best. Give them a chance!" But I have since then changed my mind. They have worked in my unit 3 times: the first time they changed some faulty windows and everything went perfectly fine. The second time they replaced my washing machine and forgot to remove the transportation bear in the back, which destroyed the first machine and messed the second one up. They weren't even able to figure out what they did wrong, it was another neighbor who figured it out. The washer/dryer would shake so violently that my downstairs neighbor was terrified and they just kept shrugging it off until the neighbor pointed out their mistake. They had to come back a bunch of times and repaint the laundry cubby doors because they had damaged them. The third time they came to investigate a leak. They cut a hole in my wall and left some drying equipment in the unit. But they didn't fix the leak. Somehow that cost me $1400. When I tried to fight it, they were able to justify it saying that 3 people "worked" on it, and it took them 4 hours (which is only true if you count the time waiting for them to find the equipment and place it in my condo). They basically charged me 14 hundred to look at the floor and cut a hole in the wall, which should have taken a total of 20 minutes at the most. I definitively feel like they are careless and overpriced. I would stay away from them if you can. read more

I just want to say that from start to finish, Miguel and Victor were very professional. Their seamless teamwork made it a pleasant experience. They showed up on time and explained everything along the way. Our project was small, repairing ceiling cracks, but they took time to ensure that we were satisfied with the results. It was a great pleasure to work with Miguel and Victor. read more

I am on the HOA board of a 249 unit community. When we needed a construction company to repair the original builder's flaws, we needed someone who could not only do the repairs, but bring us up to code. I have been through several renovations of my own, but what shocked me was the unwavering honesty and integrity of this company. The owner of the company has met with us, and continues to do this; and he not only personally researches the best solutions for the additional problems we keep throwing at him, but has shown on so many occasions, that he actually cares about the well-being of our residents. An example of this is when we had that big storm this past winter and a dish from the roof blew off, creating a big hole in the roof. There were absolutely no roofers available, yet magically, Axis sent a team out to do this for us! The crew, under Matt and Juan, has been meticulous, gracious, hardworking, and kind. You will find no better place to spend your money, because integrity is not something you can place a dollar value on. It is priceless. read more

Working with Axis has been great! I work on a day to day basis with Evette, Princess, Kevin to schedule work for various communities as well as various bid requests for work within our HOA communities. Evette is wonderful to work with she assists on many work order requests we send to Axis. She always makes sure these requests are scheduled & taken care of right away. I appreciate all the updates that I receive for the work that was done by Axis. I've enjoyed my many interactions with Axis and their team & they are definitely one of our top vendors to work with! read more

Fist they jumped my fence to use my water. Broke a planter and shatters glad all over. Then they didn't do the job my HOA hired them to do --they did everywhere else exempt my area. It's been over a month and they have left their stuff tied to a tree outside. Horrible company. read more

I don't know where to start. This company is a joke. If you're interested in having a job done on time... Don't use Axis. They have been working on my building since August in Palo Alto. 8am-4pm every single day I hear them giggling, singing, whistling, and make a gigantic racket at all times of the day. It was supposed to be done by mid-November. They aren't mindful at all that people have to live in the complex while they make a mess of it during this construction. On several different occasions we were told we couldn't be in our apartment for the day, or leave the room at a certain time- so they proceeded to put a BOARD nailed across our door entry so no one could get in or out-fire hazard much?? At one point they covered my car with muddy drainage water and I had to tell them that they needed to clean it. Did I mention they sometimes work on Saturdays because they are so behind schedule? So not only do you get the loudmouths during the week but also on Saturdays. I also enjoy them triggering the obnoxious fire alarm about once a week, having to ruin pairs of shoes by having to walk through sealant that they leave uncovered in the walkways, and the water and sinks being intermittent with pressure while they do whatever it is they are doing. Highly recommend that you DON'T use Axis. read more

I've worked with a few of the project admins and staff at Axis Construction for several of years, and I can say without a doubt that they are amongst the most professional in the business. My most extensive experiences have been with Kevin Powell and Evette Weiler, both of whom I would rate as immensely capable and adept at their craft. In working with many other construction companies, you can tell how much extra time and dedication both Kevin and Evette put into their position. Both Kevin and Evette care, which is evident in the consistently high quality of their work. If you are looking for a construction company that supports its staff, promotes industry education and consistently strives for excellence, I would recommend giving Axis Construction a call. read more

Axis Construction Consulting is two businesses in one: a team of construction expert witnesses for legal cases and a team of construction contractors who will gladly do the repairs that were identified by their colleagues who serve as expert witnesses. My attorney hired Axis Construction Consulting on my behalf over three years ago to identify construction defects in a house that I purchased. I was pleased with Axis in the beginning, but this soon changed into a nightmare that lasted until this week when my case finally settled and I no longer needed their services. Expert witnesses are not regulated by any governing body. As a result, although many have integrity and provide good services, many are mercenaries who behave badly. Axis belongs to the latter group. They routinely saved up several months worth of invoices and then sent them all at once, making it difficult to track their work and the legitimacy of their charges. In over half of their invoices they either charged excessive rates that were not allowed by our contract, charged for work that wasn't done, or charged double for two of them to work together to do the work of one. Even worse, during a time when I was without an attorney, they tried to extort me by claiming that I must pay them an exorbitant retainer to cover all future work, even though our contract did not require that I pay a retainer. They said that if I didn't pay the retainer, they would quit, leaving me without construction experts and therefore forcing me to start from scratch with new experts, which would have cost an enormous amount to repeat inspections and reports that were already done. One of Axis' principals is an attorney who knows how to browbeat vulnerable clients into submission when they are without an attorney. Fortunately, I was able to expose a statement that they made ("It is our policy that clients without attorneys must pay retainers") as a lie, which allowed me to retain their services without shelling out a fortune in advance, but the process from that point on was always contentious and stressful. They attempted again and again to overcharge me, relying on the threat that they would quit if I continued to question them. I wasted many hours in reviewing invoices and writing emails to challenge erroneous charges. Also, the fact that the guys at Axis were friendly with the attorney who was representing my opponent always concerned me that my own experts might intentionally do a poor job in representing me during the trial in an attempt to undermine my case. Thank God I didn't need to find out, for on the eve of the trial the case was settled. My experience was so distressing, I'm inclined to sponsor legislation that's designed to regulate expert witnesses, which is desperately needed. In the meantime, the least I can do is warn others that Axis Construction Consulting cannot be trusted. read more

Axis has been working on my San Francisco building for almost a year. They have missed their deadline for finishing. What should have been a 6-month job (window installation, paint and minor exterior work) has taken way longer than it should have. I know this because there are construction workers in my family. I blame the management for the slow work, not the workers themselves. There seems to be little accountability, carelessness and absolutely no sense of urgency with the time line. The rain has just begun this season, so there is no excuse for not meeting deadlines. It's purely slow and disorganized work. read more

I work in the community association industry and deal with many contractors on a day to day basis. Axis Construction (& Axis Electric, their electric subdivision) have been great to work with. Princess Garcia, Senior Project Coordinator, whom I speak to on almost a daily basis has been a huge driving factor in why I enjoy working with Axis so much. She is super responsive, always goes above and beyond to fulfill the requests we send to them very quickly and sends us updates and pictures as soon as a job is complete. Unfortunately, this is somewhat rare from contractors and so the amazing job she does in her role really stands out. They perform great work and stand by it after the job is done. I would highly recommend Axis for your construction or electrical needs. read more

I want to offer a different perspective from a previous reviewer. Construction can be disruptive - that is the the nature of the job. However, my experience with Axis Construction has been positive, largely due to the manager, Kevin Shaw. He is timely in his responses, knowledgeable about the units (inside and out, literally!) and goes out of his way to accommodate everyone's schedule. One's experience is often determined by the relationship with the personnel of the firm and Axis needs to hire more people like Kevin! I would highly recommend Axis based on the work Kevin has done for me and my family. read more

Axis was hired to do repair work on our condo building. While I understand that weather causes delays, the work took twice as long in a pretty dry year. But what really upset me was the lack of respect and care for our property. Axis broke my drip irrigation, stained my deck, left debris (trash, metal scraps and cigarette butts) on my deck, did a shoddy job reinstalling the aluminum siding it removed (what was once a smooth piece of siding now has lumpy soldering joints and the rust was merely spray painted over (and only after I complained)). Not to mention that they broke numerous tiles on the common area patio and left stains everywhere from paint and other materials. I work in commercial real estate, including construction, and I am appalled at the shoddy worn and carelessness. I can't speak to budget since I'm not on the HOA board but I would advise hiring someone else. read more

Awful construction. Their workers are just plain lazy. They are lazy, dirty, and practically useless. My backyard patio had termites bitting through the wood. All they did was chop off the pieces that were bitten and called it a day. There are still termites in the wood. This does nothing. It's just cut and paste work. I paid thousands for this construction. If I've known, I would have saved thousands doing real construction on my own patio. read more
