So we ordered from their "favourite menu" B & D as they sounded quite delicious...I drove out to pick it up and brought it home to eat. Upon the first few pieces....my husband said "umm the rice is raw". I couldn't believe it! I said no way...they can't screw up rice... but sure enough, they did. It was bits of raw rice - mixed into cooked rice?!? I don't know but I called them back to inform them. They were apologetic and offered to give us a credit for "next time" but I definitely didn't want the credit since we were from out of town and likely weren't going to try them again. They said if I was willing to drive back, they'd be willing to remake it. Of course I was...so back and forth...brought it back... sure enough, not as bad but still not well executed rice. Sigh. The flavours were definitely good, they used gochujang sauce for their spicy rolls which was interesting. When they say spicy, they weren't joking... even my husband who enjoys spice thought it was on the hotter end. We especially liked the BC roll!

Being a foodie, I'm very often open to trying new restaurants and often very observant when out and…read moreabout. We drove by this place a couple times to and from Costco and I was super intrigued to know more about this place. I can officially say it's in my top 2 list for sushi (and I'm VERY picky when it comes to sushi lol). This is a hidden gem for sure and must go to. The ambiance is casual and the restaurant is very beautiful as well.

Great food, good quality sushi rice. Other items were good too! Finally a Japanese owned Japanese…read morerestaurant in TriCities, with real, authentic taste and flavours. The other so called Japanese restaurants are at best average. This one is in Port Coquitlam in a quiet location. Definitely recommended.

It's rare to come across authentic Japanese restaurants so if you're around the area, I'd…read moredefinitely give this place a try! A no-nonsense restaurant that has simple decorations, but really fresh food. Came on a weekday and had made a reservation, but it was quite quiet around dinner time. Isobe-Age (4/5) - $7.25 Taste: Never had an appy quite like this - raw tuna wrapped in tempura style seaweed. It was fresh, served warm, and the dashi broth that it was dipped in was delicious. The textures were complex, the fish was soft, while the seaweed was crunchy and somehow it worked. However, I'm not sure if I would have preferred this served as either a cold dish or a hot dish, but instead it was a bit of both? Portion Size: 4 pieces Deluxe assorted nigiri sushi (5/5) - $34.75 Taste: I would order this again in a heartbeat. They offer a wide selection of fish that is not served at most Japanese restaurants including shima-aji, homemade tamago, amaebi. I think the quality of the fish is extremely fresh and comparable to omakase spots in Vancouver. The tamago was especially delicious and I don't even typically prefer tamago. Portion Size: Good portion for 1 person [Value for Money] While it's quite far away from the city, I can vouch for the drive out. It's worth it to try this restaurant for the quality of its fish. Perhaps omakase you can get elsewhere, but the deluxe assorted sushi itself was WELL worth its price.

How lucky are we to have such amazing talent and kind hospitality in a seemingly unassuming plaza…read morehousing an omakase restaurant that refuses to sacrifice quality without having to actually travel to Japan?! An absolute A+ to Chef Keith and Chika for their mastery of perfecting a great omakase experience in the tricities. They are reservations only (and for a good reason!) and this can be done on their new online portal!! by controlling the number of seatings, Chef K and Chika are able to interact and share their craft with patrons in an intimate and personal way. There is no hustle and bustle or fakeness that would otherwise follow some restaurant vibes. There is purely passion for fish, customer service and, of course, metal music! I urge you to dine at the chefs bar and let Chef K tell you his extensive and wonderful background from catering some A list bands, to being on tour, and changing restaurant models all while being fed an amazing feast. The fish is sourced from Japan and screams quality and flavour. He knows exactly what he's doing with all the fish profiles and pairing them with a variety of notes like shiso, yuzu and ginger. Between the 14 unbelievably mouth watering and satisfying dishes, Chef K and Chika's kindness shared the spotlight easily. Humble beginnings have led to an extraordinary and legendary journey for SKK. Some of the special highlights were the blue fin tuna, South American jumbo prawn, Spanish mackerel and the scallops. I cannot wait to bring my omakase/metal loving friends and family here to join in on the greatness because sharing truly is caring and this gem is too awesome to keep to myself!

The chef really took the time to make everything beautifully presented and to explain each dish. I really enjoyed the sauces he created for the dishes too. You could really see the passion behind his work. Although I don't normally listen to rock music, I found that it was still tasteful and the music wasn't blaring. The dinner ended up being over 2.5 hours which was longer than we expected, but I found it worthwhile. Something to note, you need to pre-book your reservation online and pay a deposit of $50/person. Upon arrival the deposit will get refunded back to you. They are unable to deduct the deposit from your final bill.

I am not privy to the contractual agreements that our local restaurants make with food delivery services such as Skip The Dishes, but if food costs begin to increase, certainly most customers will understand that restaurant prices must also increase in order to remain competitive in their quality after noticing a downward change in their fresh fish and teriyaki dishes, we tried adjusting our orders so we could obtain a quality dinner via delivery, even if it meant paying a little more - after all, it's the quality of the food and the taste of the sauces, etc that one is really looking for in a Japanese restaurant, not a cheap bargain for maki and nigiri items, and yet that seems to be exactly what Sushi Fu seems to have done - as if they refused to change their prices, and instead preferred to downgrade their customer's expectations and begin cutting corners in ways that made it impossible to remain a customer - at least in our case the final straw occurred when Sushi Fu appear to have started using cheaper nori, and then serving maki that seemed to have been made more than a day in advance and then improperly stored - making for food items that became nothing short of totally revolting - tough grains of rice around dry salmon, wrapped in tough and tasteless nori that was utterly impossible to leave in the mouth, let alone swallow.. I still shudder when I recall the last meal we ordered from them - totally unacceptable maki and salmon teriyaki that left a sour taste in the mouth and was served on a bed of mostly cheap onion slices I suppose that being an expert sushi chef outside of Japan doesn't also guarantee the expected expertise in choosing food supplies at market, so my thoughts ran to the possibility of poor decisions and uninformed food changes being made by Sushi Fu, where price was the only consideration that could not be changed, and predictably the entire experience that had been so carefully crafted for years was now left in ruins
