Sung was direct and honest and more than fair with his pricing. We needed a new water heater fast, our old one broke...and my mother-in-law was coming into town during the weekend. Sung and his partner worked diligently to install a water heater pretty much the next day. Would highly recommend, thank you again! read more

If I could give six stars, I would! Sung is perhaps the best contractor we have ever used for work on our house. To give some perspective, we first contacted Sung on the recommendation of two friends who had their gas water heaters replaced with heat pump water heaters by him. We called him on Labor Day weekend and he promptly called us back and scheduled an appointment to check out our house (water heater location, etc.) the next day. We were concerned about getting the water heater installed by the end of September so that we could get the full rebates from PCE before September 30th. To make a long story short, Sung was able to install our water heater by September 21st and we received our rebate checks shortly thereafter. I mention getting the rebate checks timely because it requires some paperwork to be completed by the contractor and Sung was prompt with that also. Here are some things that I like about Sung and which, I think, set him apart from other contractors: 1) he was very prompt and reliable - he would show up at the time he told us he would, he would call or text us to update us as to the status of the project (when he was getting the product, when he would be by to install, etc.); 2) he was always looking for ways to save us money (he was able to find us a rebate that was even better than what PCE was offering which netted us another $200); 3) his work was good and he followed up with us to make sure everything was working well. I have since recommended Sung to a number of other people. My only regret is that I didn't write this review earlier. I wish him success in all that he does and would not hesitate to use him again if we ever had a plumbing project. read more

OMG. I hit the jackpot when my neighbor gave me the phone # for a guy he said installed an electric water heater to replace his residential gas unit. Mr Sung. Not only is Mr Sung an expert in clean-looking installations. Not only does he love to explain how the new system will out-work and save money even in the short term. He is an emphatic studier of the various rebates available for gas changeouts to electric. He will be saving us well over half off of the naked install price by stacking rebates and recommending timing as the various agencies ebb and flow with their offerings. This is a man to know. read more

When my gas water heater failed, Mr. Sung came early the next morning to provide a quote. His price was fair and he shared rebates that were available through BayRen and Peninsula Clean Energy, which he submitted on my behalf. He did a fantastic job installing my heat pump water heater (HPWH), filed the necessary permits, and completed the work on time, with quality craftsmanship. Not many plumbers in the Bay Area are familiarly with HPWHs yet, but Mr. Sung is clearly an expert. I highly recommend him if you are consider heat pump water heater installation. read more

We call Emilio for any plumbing issues we have. He's personable and very good at what he does. Definitely our go-to guy.

Last week Our water heater was broken (started leaking from the bottom) and we called Awesome plumbing. Next morning Mr. Sung, who is super experienced guy, came and told us we needed a new water heater (yeah, it was rusty 14 years old water heater ). Plus he kindly explained our old water heater was installed in very unsafe way which didn't followed city code at all. I feel so lucky that I met someone who can honestly explain all that safety detail for the water heater set up! Mr. Sung installed a new water heater in same day.And did Fantastic job. We felt so safe because everything installed by city code for safety and by super experienced plumbing professional. Of course, We got HOT WATER! If you have a water heater problem, this is the guy you want to call! Highly recommend AWESOME PLUMBING INC. for my friends. read more

Sung is a water-heater expert! He was very thorough and gave me great advice, replacing my old gas water heater with a new, super-efficient electric heat-pump water heater. His prices were reasonable, he was flexible when the water heater I ordered was late (not his fault), and he was very thorough and did a great job installing it, plus explaining to me how to use it and all the related technology! That included a water pump to keep hot water available immediately at our bathroom, 3 floors up from the basement water heater. Finally, Awesome Plumbing works with BayREN's rebate program for efficient water heaters - so he did the paperwork for me to get a $1,000 rebate! read more

AWESOME PLUMBING, INC. - Water heater, fully installed by Awesome Plumbing, in my garage. - Plumbing Near Me

Awesome Plumbing lives up to its name. Sung did an amazing job on my HPWH and thought through every step of the way to provide me with unbelievably helpful information and creative solutions. About a year ago, he came by to give me an estimate. At the time, he reviewed the location of my gas water heater, the layout of the house, all of the plumbing to the kitchen and bathrooms. He let me know that although HPWH are quiet, if he placed it in the location of the old one, the house would essentially act as an amplifier for the humming of the pump and it would probably drive me nuts. He suggested putting the new one in my garage. He was not pushy and it seemed like this was entirely to my benefit as he still planned to wrestle the old one out of its cramped location. He then got back in touch with me about 10 months later, saying he wanted to share some information and review the site. This time I was ready, having done research on what I'd need to do to electrify my house overall. He informed me of phenomenal rebates that would start in November and we talked about details of how to handle the project. He also recommended an electrician to do the conversion of a 240V outlet (Treehouse) who were efficient and very cost-effective. Sung came back to install the HPWH in the garage and haul away the old one. The installation is so professional and clean. The earthquake bracing is neat and solid, the lines and insulation for them are straight and clean, and he helped me get set up with the AO Smith app so I would qualify for rebates. He handled EVERYTHING for the rebates and the permit so it was easy and seamless for me. Net cost to me for the HPWH and installation (excluding city permit) was $220. Seriously, a total deal. My old water heater was 11 years old, about the age when my previous one conked out. I highly recommend Sung for all of your plumbing needs but especially HPWH. He is knowledgeable, kind, and does amazing high quality work. read more

If you just found this review, you can enjoy your life without worry about the water/heater issue, also the plumbing as well. I've never met any guy like Mr. Sung from this field - he is honest, reasonable with the cost, very detailed, fast, accurate, etc. I really do not want him to be famous, but I decided to share this guy with all. Hope you will never be worried about the water/heater & plumbing issue from now on if you are in Northern CA. read more

We recently replaced our aging gas tank water heater with a new electric heat pump water heater. We got quotes from several local plumbers, all with great reviews. After some deliberation we chose to go with Sung at Awesome Plumbing, and couldn't be happier with our choice. His quote was not the lowest, but it was much more reasonable than some of the bigger companies. Additionally, he included some very useful extras, like a thermostatic mixing valve (allows the HPWH to stay at a higher temperature for more effective capacity and efficient operation). On the scheduled day Sung showed up on time, and spent several hours working hard installing the new water heater. The work is very neat and tidy, and the water heater has been operating perfectly so far. The city inspector came and everything passed on the first try. Then a few weeks later, as promised, I got a rebate check in the mail from BayRen. Overall, nothing more I could ask for. read more

Replace gas water heater with heat pump water heater along with a recirculating pump. Mr. Sung did an excellent job. He noticed that the first hp water heater had damage after it was unboxed, and promptly had it replaced by an undamaged unit the next day. He proceeded to install the Hpwh that day and finished so we were able hot water that evening. I will happily recommend Mr. Sung for any plumbing job. read more

Sung was fast, professional, and a great communicator. He helped explain what I needed to do to prepare for the install and clearly detailed the PCE and BayRen rebate process. I would highly recommend Sung and Awesome Plumbing for your heat pump water heater needs!! read more

We highly recommend Sung Kwok, proprietor of Awesome Plumbing Inc. Sung's work for us is exactly what we want from a plumber. Expeditious yet thorough, did not cut corners to complete the jobs faster, cleaned up during work as well as after completion. Also, Sung is friendly. Work so far: 1) Capped off the natural gas line in our kitchen - we switched from a gas range to an induction electric range, and got the BayRen $750.00 rebate which required the gas line capping. 2) Capped off the natural gas line in our laundry area - we switched from a defective gas dryer (and the matching washer) to a GE All-in-One washer/heat-pump dryer, and got the BayRen $250.00 rebate which required the gas line capping. 3) Replaced two of our original toilets (36 years old) with two TOTO Drake toilets (from Costco). Sung did all the shlepping up stairs and down, and removed the old toilets after job completion. All in about 3-hours!!! Fantastic! read more

Sung really is awesome. (Honestly, I chose him partly for the name, as well as the reviews.) We contacted him when our water heater broke, and (unlike another person we got an estimate from), he gave some thought to the location of the water heater, and our interest in electric options, and recommended a better option than what we were considering. He was able to come quickly and do the job, and we're very happy with the results in terms of efficiency.  There was a lot of bureaucracy around getting a heat pump water heater. We had to get a permit (which Sung facilitated), for which we needed to insulate our water pipes. For someone clueless like me, this was a confusing and challenging task - so Sung kindly came round and educated me on which pipes are which in my garage. We also needed to have, due to city regulations, a gas safety check of the whole house, and this revealed some minor leaks that had to be fixed - I was told they weren't at all dangerous, but once PG&E *knows* about a leak, they want it fixed, because liability. So that added extra cost (but luckily Sung could do it, and the price was very reasonable). I feel like he knows his stuff, and is trustworthy, and extremely helpful and hardworking. I would call on him any time. read more

I found out about this business from BayRen list of vendors to install electric water heater and get the state rebate. He was the cheapest bid of 3-4 quoted I got and also, the most helpful, taking the time to educate me (I'm machine Luddite and very intimidated gullible homeowner, total bait for exploitative contractors of which I've had my share of exposures sadly). He also gave me tons of tips like a pan to place the heater on just in case of leaks etc and added it for free, inspected the existing system and noticed pressure regulating device (forgot name) on back side of garage, inspected main panel and told me what I can do on my own to cut costs further. He also was so kind and thoughtful and I felt he genuinely approached my project like it was for his own family member. He was also professional, punctual, responsive and I had a lot of questions!! He is smart you can tell, and knows to think outside the box for creative solutions and I am so grateful to know he's there for even a big intimidating job like switching to solar and installing electric water heaters. He's handling the rebate process too and I trust his competency 1,000%. He is not only competent but kind. Call him. He will be upfront what he can or cannot do. Clear as day communications. read more

Sung was an amazing contractor. We reviewed about 4 different plumbers for our water heater, and he was skillful in recommending an electric heat pump that fit to our garage perfectly. He also managed all the rebates and paperwork and had an incredibly fair price. Sung was very responsive and was able to help us get water back up and running quickly. We're very grateful and highly recommend! read more

Sung is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. First time I contacted him, he came immediately to our home and even helped increase water pressure though I contacted him for water heater installation. He is also the only contractor insisted on us getting permit and inspection after he has done his part. Even the inspector praised his work. He also has the most competitive pricing included parts that would have been additional with other contractors. I highly highly recommend Sung and will seek him out for other plumbing needs we have! read more

Sung came right away and really knows his trade. You can trust him to have quality parts and more importantly do quality work that will last and be up to code. He takes his time to explain to you what he did and what to expect. He thoroughly goes through the equipment warranty as well as his own. He explains the registration and permit process. He is quick, reliable and thorough. I would highly recommend him. I found him through Nextdoor reviews from neighbors that were equally as happy with his work. read more

Awesome Plumbing's service was excellent. I had a heat pump water heater installed and not many plumbers are interested in new technology. AP is very experienced and calculated the rebate for me (including squeezing my project into a tight window to qualify for a higher rebate). They were very helpful with the permits, and did a great job on the install, making some suggestions that make better use of the space and will make servicing the unit easier. The unit we installed was defective and AP helped me work with the manufacturer to get replacement parts and did the labor with no charge to me. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend! read more

I was referred to Sung through a friend, who mentioned that he had done a great job on his water heater in a timely manner. I asked Sung to stop by and take a look at my water heater, and not only did he want to understand how the leak was happening, but he offered many suggestions and ideas to make sure the water would not flood again in the future. During the install, he made sure to explain to me what he was doing, how everything worked, and made sure everything on how the water heater and house heater worked together. Sung was not available for permit inspection, but would have returned to fix anything if needed ( sure enough, the work passed inspection) I recommend Sung because he is thorough, knowledgeable, and wants to make sure you are happy with the work. read more

Sung is an incredible person to work with. We decided to switch to an electric heat pump when replacing our water heater. He was very responsive and walked me through exactly what would need to change, provided a clear estimate, and gave me clear expectations on different rebate programs and timeline. Installation went smoothly and despite putting in a long day, he took his time to ensure that things were working in every bathroom and took some extra time to educate me on a few things I could do for maintenance and to keep our family healthy. During inspection for the permit, the inspector was very impressed with the work. Sung is an approved BayREN contractor and handled all of the paperwork for rebate programs offered by BayREN and Peninsula Clean Energy. Both rebates were approved and checks mailed within weeks. Sung is incredibly professional, communicative, and on top of everything. I cannot recommend working with him and Awesome Plumbing enough. read more

Soon after I moved, I found leaks on my water heater. It was an old one that had to be replaced. The old water heater was located almost in the middle of the garage wall wasting space. Awesome plumbing came to assess the problem, gave me a quote and started the work right away and finished within a few hours. He placed the new water heater in the corner while keeping some distance following the city code, rearranged a pipe work and finished beautifully. It's been a month since I had the new water heater installed and it's been working nicely. I also have so much more space in the garage and it is in a much safer. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. read more

Awesome Plumbing helped me out on a typical homeowner project of replacing a leaking hot water heater. Sung provided lots of options and insights on the pros and cons of the different choices (tankless, heat pump, traditional). Since my house is older, retrofitting the newer systems would be complicated and likely 3x more than a regular tank. As we stood there staring at the leaking beast, Sung noticed that the warranty was still live, there were 3 weeks left before the tank turned into a leaking ugly pumpkin. A quick call to Rheem's warranty line and I had the go ahead to get a credit to be used towards a new tank. Score! Not only did Sung spot the warranty, but he also was gracious with his time to remove the leaking tank and take it down to the store for the exchange and pick up a new tank with me. Super customer service that I never ever expected. The install was clean and most importantly up to current code so that this will pass the city's requirements. The price he charged was more than fair and I will gladly work with him again on future project. read more

We had Sung replace our gas water heater with an electric heat-pump unit (Bradford-White). It was a great experience. He showed up just when he said he would, gave us a reasonable quote and explained what it included. He also checked our water pressure (it turned out to be way too high) and he included the cost of repairing that as well. He did a beautiful installation job and made sure everything was to code. He handled paperwork related to rebates and is very organized. He explained he would not be there when the inspector came, but if there were any issues (unlikely, the way he works) he would take care of them. Sure enough, his work passed inspection. We just had him come back to add a recirculating pump and fix a few minor leaks not related to his work. That was a great experience as well. We're impressed with his work and the care he takes to make sure we understand how everything works. He is truly an awesome plumber. read more

Our water heater went out on a Friday morning and I had decided to replace it with a new heat pump water heater. Awesome Plumbing was on the website for the two rebate organizations for this type of water heater and he also had good reviews on NextDoor so I gave him a call. He did a super job for us, worked us into his schedule, recommended an electrician to provide the 220 v outlet and did a beautiful installation - did not cut any corners. When he was finished he took extra time to explain to us how it worked and how to maintain it. He took care of all the paperwork for the rebates too! We highly recommend Awesome Plumbing! read more

I recently had Sung do two jobs at my home, and he was consistently excellent in both! I found Awesome Plumbing through the BayREN program because I wanted to upgrade to a Heat Pump Water Heater. Of the three estimates I received, not only did Sung provide a great price but also was very thorough in answering my questions and always quick to respond. Coincidentally, as I was waiting to do the job, my old gas water heater started failing, so Sung quickly adjusted plans and was flexible to move up the job (which is now working great). While on site, I enjoyed talking with Sung and he was careful to explain and teach me about my new system. Then, we unfortunately discovered a small gas leak, I texted Sung and he was at my house within a few hours, and had the leak repaired within a couple hours. It was great he was able to resolve this stressful situation quickly, and again was careful to explain all that he did in the repair. read more

This review will be very similar to the others here. We needed to replace our old gas tank water heater with a hybrid heat pump tank. Sung came in and assessed our situation and determined there was a better place to locate the new tank. We moved it from inside our condo unit to the garage instead. He explained the entire process very clearly and was very straightforward about the work involved. This was a full two-day job and Sung worked diligently and efficiently each day. After living here for decades, I finally found thee plumber I've been looking for! After his visit, it's also the first time we've ever had normal water pressure in our house! Sung was courteous and considerate, and overall just a nice guy. He walked into a very bad situation that the tile people left us with! He was here all day, redoing, and improving years of bad plumbing decisions made over the years. The plumbing is hard to get to in our place, which is one reason plumbers never seemed to really want to deal with it properly. But Sung took the time to do it right, and now we couldn't be happier. When I wrote Sung the check for the job, I told him "this is money very well spent, thank you!" read more

My water heater suddenly went out and I wasn't able to re-light the pilot. After an initial inspection by Roto Rooter, who wanted to charge an exorbitant fee for replacing the water heater, I found Sung through Nextdoor and he was able to come to the condo same day. Not only did he replace the water heater for a much cheaper price, he did a very thorough job of even replacing portions of leaky piping, installing a proper water pan, and making sure that things worked correctly before leaving. He also took the time to describe all of the features of the new water heater, the warranty, and how to register the product. Very professional, great value, and very easy to work with.
