Tim came out to replace my 50 Gallon Gas Water Heater on March 1, 2026. To start, Tim was extremely responsive, proactive, and transparent when conversing over text message. He was flexible on time, and showed up in a very timely manner once we were ready to go. When Tim arrived, he immediately inspected our current setup, explained some changes he'd have to make to accommodate our new heater, and promptly got to work. He was finished in about 1:45h, including some soldering work. He left behind a clean work station and took care of everything on his own. His pricing was similar to multiple other quotes we had gotten in the area, but I don't believe you can top his level of workmanship, professionalism, or efficiency. Had 3 warranty calls on a 5-year-old Rheem from Home Depot, so started calling around for a replacement after the latest cold shower. Peninsula was the 3rd quote and had the best price, longest warranty on parts and labor, and could be there within an hour. Tim showed up as promised with a professional-grade American Standard and got to work. As he was removing the old unit, he noticed a pressure reducing valve on the main line and suggested adding an expansion tank to the cold water inlet. He explained that the PRV created a closed system in the house, which was a safety risk, code violation, and invalidated the parts warranty. We agreed and he installed the new heater and expansion tank within 2 hours, and it cost less than just the heater alone from the other 2 quotes. I called Tim of Peninsula Water Heaters, the previous night about my leaking gas water heater. I had also called up other contractors, and some had been evasive on their pricing rates, or they had quoted higher prices (or lower prices but with strange additional add-ons) So, Tim asked for the details of my leaking water heater, like model number, serial number, capacity, etc., to see if he had stock. Then he said he did not have the exact same 48/50 gallon "tall version" water heater type which I preferred, as he currently, only had on hand, the "short version" just right then. He said that next morning, he'll get for me my preferred "Tall" type of water heater, and we made an appointment for first thing the next morning. Tim texted me, early next morning, that he and the crew were leaving their office at that moment. And then he and his crew arrived, on time, and proceeded to remove the old heater. He pointed out certain items like ventilation and piping that needed changing and upgrading for safety reasons, earthquake strapping, , the additional prices for these items, etc. I agreed to the total price for the project, and the crew proceeded with their work immediately. Within two hours, they had completed the dismantling of the old heater, installed the new heater with the corrected new fittings, etc., cleaned up the worksite area, tested the new gas water heater for safety, etc.. and then, Tim briefed me on the proper operating instructions of the new water heater.
