Avonak Distillery was a really great experience. It's really small but a super cute distillery. The tastings were absolutely delicious. Kyle was so wonderful telling us the stories of each spirit. A must try experience!!!

What a great stop. Distiller is so knowledgeable and loves to explain the process and care they take to make sure their product is superior. Believe me you can taste the difference. They have a tour, tastings, and mini cocktails. Spend some time here for good spirits and conversation. read more

Great spot in the Spring Area. Definitely worth a visit. Try the Bourbon and take time for the tour. I'm not a gin fan, and I can definitely say theirs was extremely well crafted. Lear quite a bit and taste some great Houston made spirits. read more

This was a letdown. Friends I traveled to come check this place out only to find out it's basically just a place to purchase their products. There were three mini cocktails available for purchase and only two chairs in the lobby. This lobby is so small you can smell the air freshener coming from the bathroom. The $5 Old Fashioned wasn't bad but not great either. When I asked the guy at the register if there was another location, he said no and that the business had recently relocated from Houston. read more

This is a hidden gem in the Heights/GOOF area. Their cocktails and mixed drinks are second to none with options for all varieties of drinkers. Love their bourbon and my wife loves the Great Divide cocktail and their Gin. If you haven't been do yourself a favor and check them out!! read more

Avonak is a great local distillery! The tour was very informative and Kyle was very friendly and answered any questions we had during the tour! After the tour, you can have a tasting of their spirits; they currently have 2 gins, a vodka and a bourbon, all of which are produced on site (from milling, mashing, fermentation to bottling) using organic ingredients! I especially loved their bourbon and gins. Really enjoyed our visit to Avonak and would highly recommend checking out! read more

I've been doing a whole life of distillery tours while I was still living in California. It's great to find a gem like Avonak here in Houston where they make their vodka and gin from scratch, i.e. they start with milling the grains and have put a lot of thought and love of detail in every single step because every single step is important. And the result shows this care that went into every aspect. Right now you can buy three things from Avonak: a super smooth and clean vodka that's so good you can sip it neat. And two types of gin, named after the life arteries of Houston traffic: Fifty Nine, and 10. Both have a very distinct profile without being overpowering. We did a tour and tasting with Kyle, the master distiller and owner, and so should you if you're ready step up your vodka or gin game. The best part is: stepping up ain't expensive. Their philosophy is that craft process is no excuse to overcharge and that shows in their price policy. Watch out for them coming into local liquor stores soon or - better even - check out their pristine distillery with the Dutch stills and have a tasting. read more

I had chance to visit Avonak recently and the owner lead our group on a tour and a tasting of his gins. They are currently selling 2 gins and a vodka. Everything is made from 100% organic ingredients. And everything they sell is truly produced on their site, from milling the grains, mashing, fermentation and bottling. Many so called craft distilleries will show you some equipment but sell you a bottle of product that they actually sourced from some big out of state industrial alcohol plant. The 2 gins, Fifty 9 Gin and 10 Gin, are decisively different with each having a unique set of organic botanicals used. They are located inside Beltway 8 near 59N, not far from IAH airport. Went here yesterday for a tour and got to meet Kyle, founder/owner. Tried vodka, bourbon and his gins. All great stuff. Took a bottle of the Fifty 9 Gin home with me. BTW, I don't normally drink gin either but the products coming out of Avonak Distillery are really something special. I encourage anyone who's in the area to drop in and check them out. read more

Took a tour with my family last May for my little sister's 21st birthday. It was a fantastic experience. Very informative about the distilling process in general as well as the specifics that are put into practice at Avonak. Loved that it was interactive. Also, got to enjoy a cocktail with the gin we talked about on the tour. Might be in a sketchy area but I highly recommend to all our friends in Houston. read more

My husband and I truly enjoyed our time at Avonak Distillery. Our tour was led by Kyle who is the head distiller and owner, he was extremely knowledgeable and allowed us to really get a feel for how the vodka, gin and bourbon was made. Not to mention he made us both some delicious cocktails before touring that kept us wanting more. The tasting was just as good as the informative tour. We purchased the 59 gin and can't wait to have our friends and family over for to recreate some of the drinks Kyle suggested we make. Thanks Avonak Distillery!!! read more

Gretchen did a fabulous job of explaining the process from start to finish. They are currently making Vodka from corn, but will soon have other spirits available. The cleverly named Dog Trot Vodka is not for the faint at heart. It is 100 proof and has a slight floral taste on the finish. I prefer my vodka to be a bit smoother. They have a tasting room and will mix up some cocktails for you with their products. You can also have private parties there with your own outside catering. This was one of three stops for me as I make my way through some of the areas newest distilleries. Welcome Big Thicket, and good luck as your business expands!

B-52 also brews 11 Below's beers so they have both available in the tap room. I got my standard flight which consisted of a stout, 2 IPA's and a doppelbock. All of them were pretty good but the doppelbock was phenomenal. The best I have ever had for that style. It was a little chocolately, malty, and sweet. They had a pizza kitchen onsite that looked tasty. The outdoor sitting area is very nice, lots of trees so it feels like you are at a campsite. They also have an indoor sitting area but it's not much on atmosphere.

They also have a alternating food trucks Thursdays through Sunday to provide food for customers. Once you get inside, there is table seating, the bar and an area with lounging chairs and sofas if you'd like to have a "living room" feel. There is also an outdoor covered patio to enjoy sitting outside when the weather permits. It was too hot for us to enjoy outside. Talking to Gary, the owner, we learned they have three events a year: anniversary event, October fest and Christmas fest. My husband and I came because he enjoys craft beers.
