This is one of the best Vet's that I have ever used. Dr McGrath is awesome- so knowledgable, kind and caring. They went the extra step in helping and were more concerned about providing great treatment, than how much they billed- a refreshing changes from all the Vets that are being gobbled up by finanical buyers whose only focus is the bottom line. We are from out of state and our lab had diarrhea for several days. I called a couple of other vet places in the Edwards/Vail area and they were not willing to see our dog. The only reason I'm giving this a two star is because The service used to be good. We used to take our dog here to always get groomed and to stay the night. But recently after the old pet groomer left there's been terrible service, I texted to make a grooming appointment for my dog and they gave me a month to wait (which is fine because I know they're busy). The day arrives and I take my dog upfront to the new groomer. Not only did he give me attitude when he told me we didn't have an appointment but he refused to check his schedule. I had to show him the text messages for him to believe me! I've been having to go to a different groomer after this. read more

4 stars? Maybe in the past. My dog needed surgery a few months ago. I trusted them for over 16 yrs, and now I will never go back. I couldn't afford the payment in full, so I was grateful to the Vet for the payment plan. It was okay with the vet, just not the staff. The staff threatened to keep my dog when I wouldn't pay it in full, and charged my card more then the upon amount causing me banking issues. And then, DISCUSSED MY REMAINING BALANCE WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER. Making this a horrible experience for me. read more

I'm giving it 2 stars because the staff is really friendly. Otherwise, I would only give it 1 star. I took my dog in for skin condition. They ran cultures and came back with nothing. They gavel me expensive wipes and didn't work at all. They seem to be a bit disorganized as well. Never verified vaccinations prior to boarding. I went to Vail Valley and within 10 minutes they were able to diagnose Riggins with mites. I was blown away that Avon had not even considered looking under microscope. Really a shame my dog had to suffer for 3 months with these things. read more

The Avon pet centre was nothing but an amazing experience for me and my dog Ryder. I took him in with stomach issues because he was throwing up and when I took him there the doctor noted he was acting a little odd and that his eyes were dilated. Her and her staff worked relentlessly to figure out what was wrong and had thought he had suffered brain damage. Seeing my dog in this state and not having the funds to continue, I thought it was best to let him go. They didn't let me give up and waved a good portion of the costs! Even though we're still not sure what's happened to him, I still have my best friend thanks to this amazing team. read more

Love this place and their services, but cannot fathom how they don't offer vet appointments after 3pm. Why advertise that you are open until 5:30, if you don't offer services beyond 2:30pm? Finding a new vet after five years is beyond disappointing, based solely upon appointment times. Must be nice to have all clients who must not work during the day.. read more

We've been bringing our animals here for about two years and while we really like Dr. Deb (she's great!) Jeff is the real powerhouse. He's ALWAYS there, checks in, follows up, returns call, squeezes us in, and cares for our pets like they're his. We always seem to have emergent issues on the weekends, which is very stressful. But Jeff is always in and always has access to the Vet on call so I know we aren't going to have to suffer through the weekend. Most people don't appreciate how thankless the healthcare profession can be and you're more likely to read reviews complaining and groaning about the things they don't like or how they feel they should have been treated. WORST and rudest customer service i've ever experienced. 1 star but would give this a -5 if i could. i very recently got referred to the avon pet centre when looking for 7 day care for my two cats while on vacation, and after picking them up i am sick to my stomach. previous to their stay, the receptionist reminded me that this center is not a boarding facility and that interaction, daily care needs and playtime was expressed multiple times a day. after asking a few questions about their health needs being complete (brushing/wiping eyes) and seeing the "kitty condo" (which is a fancy name for a hot white empty box) i quickly learned the care my kittens where assured to receive was anything but standard. the gentlemen who were working where overwhelmingly inappropriate, rude, aggressive, and down right mean. almost like the employees there were going out of their way to pick a fight. to quote one gentlemen "i take care of these animals fine, if you have a problem with it you can go somewhere else", even boasting & defending his behavior over how unstoppable he is adding "i have worked here for 6 years". the other gentlemen was not phased what so ever by this behavior and did his best to avoid giving me the owners name/contact info. it's a small valley and this behavior won't last long. my cats came home smelling awful, extremely dirty, deprived of water, attention deprived and acting loopy. i am blown away and would never recommend allowing your animals to be in this care, i will go out of my way to pass the word on about this facility. i assure you, if these people are treating my animals like they did-they will do the same for you. read more

I had a great experience at Avon Pet Centre the other day. My indoor/outdoor cat, Liam, got into a tussle with another neighborhood cat, and his leg swelled up pretty badly as a result. I called the office and Matt was able to schedule me right away! When I brought Liam in, China took great care of him while Dr. Deb checked his wounds and prescribed him some antibiotics. Overall, the visit took ten minutes and cost less than $20! I have used many vets over the past seven years of pet ownership, and I can honestly say I will be sticking with Avon Pet Centre in the future. read more

My husband and I were staying up in the mountains for one night only on Memorial Day, and even though the office was closed they let me come in to drop off my dog for the night. For most things, the DVM & the Staff here are good. However, they are inexperienced with pest management and mite infestation. Though I suspected, and mentioned, arachnid type pests/mites to the DVM, she did not do a tape test, and I received no info in regard to mites or mite control, chemical or natural. The pet was diagnosed with fur mites by a different Vet. Also, my pet became allergic to Fipronil...the DVM in Avon couldn't recommend an alternative, but a different Vet steered me to an alternative which was tolerated and did work. My pet, and the household, suffered considerably during the interim...fur mites are bothersome & difficult to eradicate from the home environment. I'm not a fan of topical flea/mite treatments, but at times, it's the only solution. There may be a larger problem here...pet populations, like people, are moving around more, and more pests are showing up in our environment. Perhaps vet schools didn't cover pest management in-depth at one time, but it's no excuse for not being up-to-speed/complacent. read more
