I was parking for my nail appointment a couple doors down from Avis and one of their workers who clearly hasn't been bedded in a while due to terrible customer service came at me sideways because I parked in one of their spots. He said "can you read that parking spot? It's for Avis. The whole f***ing parking lot is empty." Okay, it was my mistake that I parked in that spot, I will admit to that, but he didn't have to be a d**k about it. You shouldn't be in customer service if you're gonna act like that. read more

Extremely Disappointed with Avis Rental Car We've had two trips with Avis, and unfortunately, both experiences were extremely frustrating and disappointing. On our first trip, we got a flat tire in the mountains and, despite being in a dangerous situation with a one-year-old baby in the car, Avis refused to send roadside assistance. We were forced to drive down the mountain with a flat tire, and when we contacted them for a resolution, they refused to offer any compensation or refund for the trouble. On our second trip, things got even worse. Our car broke down, and Avis was unable to provide a replacement vehicle or send a tow truck. Instead, they wanted us to drive down the mountain with the tow truck driver to pick up a new car--an absurd five-hour drive at midnight. After failing to get a tow truck in time, we were forced to pay nearly $300 for a shuttle to the airport, where, to make matters worse, our baby didn't have a car seat. Now, after all this, Avis is offering to refund only the day we couldn't use the car and refuses to reimburse us for the shuttle costs, which were an unexpected and unnecessary expense caused entirely by their poor service. Safe to say, we will never be using Avis again. Their lack of customer support and disregard for our safety is inexcusable. read more

I would give them a zero start but they did give me an upgraded car when asked at rental. It snowed heavily the night before in the snoqualmie pass and I needed an AWD vehicle. They gave it to me for an extra $25 a day since it was a return and they hadn't cleaned it yet. That part was great. When I returned 2 days later there was only one person at the counter and he was helping another customer. After 30 minutes he asked if he could help me and I returned my keys. Total for my rental was supposed to be around $270 for the two days with the upgraded car and insurance. That was fine. Checked my card a few days later and there was a $490 charge. I called the location but was put on hold for over 10 minutes. I called Avis customer insurance and was told they charged me an extra day since I went past 24 hours (this was their falut for making me sit around for 30 minutes before helping me as I picked it up at opening at 8am and was back there at exactly 8am 2 days later) After arguing they did say they would just charge me the original $270 and i'd get a new bill in my email. Two days later a new bill came at it was now $546. Called again and they said they now charged me for an extra day and an extra hour. After going around and around with a supervisor and basically telling them to check their lot cameras for day and time I took it back I was finally told that I would only be Charged $290 now.... I took that one. I got a name and a confirmation number. Checked my card again today and I was redunded a bunch of money but the total came out to $316. I don't think I will ever rent from Avis again. This was my first time from this location as I recently moved and my old location was great, but myself and my company do rent quite a bit for our profession as we travel a lot. My office has now decided to rent from Enterprise exclusively instead of Avis. read more

Rented online with my AARP, when I came to pick it up today. They said I have to have My AARP card with me otherwise I would not get my discount that I already paid for 2 weeks prior. Then My paperwork says if I use a credit card I'm charged a 200 Fee. Capital one is a credit card, but their system thinks its a debit card so it charged me 250.00. They would not take more than one card. So I had to call my son to transfer money to my account. They are very rude. They do not care if you made your reservation on line. They state it was not made with them, so what my paperwork is not vaild. If I didn't need the car and at the last minute, I would of returned it. Will NEVER use Avis in Puyallup, WA on Meridian again. Need to hire better people. I understand they have no benefits and may not be treated well as employees, but you need to hire representative who can be professional. read more

Absolutely do not rent here. Reserved and paid for a 6 passenger car one month in advance. When I arrived, was told since I made the reservation online, they don't know what cars are in their lot and no 6 passenger cars available. "But it wasn't my fault."Acted like it wasn't a big deal and offered no solution. I asked if I could pick up at Avis airport location instead and was given 800 number to call and sent me away. Called 800 number, explained situation, and was told car was available at the airport for $150 MORE than I already paid. I cancelled the reservation. This put us in a very bad position and ruined our day planned with family from out of town. Completely unprofessional location. In a shady strip mall with shady guys running the place and few to no cars available. read more

Very unprofessional rental location. Demeanor was horrible upon check out. The Front Desk, who was working alone, kept commenting on how poor work conditions were. Such as printer not working, system on the fritz, etc. I understand they were alone and had no real help. But the lack of expertise and work under pressure made me think she was not suited for the job. Get a working staff who knows handle multiple customers. Will never rent from this company again. The office was dirty, ripped chairs, disorganized paperwork laying about. If this is how they want to present their business, as the consumer, think again! read more

Read all of these reviews, including mine. Do not, I repeat, do not rent a truck from this place. They called me the morning I was supposed to pick up my truck and said "Budget's computer system is down and we can't get in. We can't rent you a truck." They left me a number to call back. I tried the number, and it was a circular voicemail system. No one would answer or pick up. I then drove to the location, where I was told the same thing. I explain my situation and that I had to move today. They did not care, and did not offer me any compensation, discount on a future rental, (which I would never use), nothing. The staff there was very apathetic, and from the looks of all the reviews in front of me, are used to this thing happening. I then called Budget directly, and they told me there was nothing wrong with their computer system. It turns out that the computer problem was with the franchise location, and happens quite frequently. I could hear the manager, John, in the background. He wouldn't come out to help or apologize. Needless to say, this made me scramble. I went down the street to U-Haul, and got a truck from them. I will never use Budget at this location again. They also run the Avis Rent-A-Car franchise from the same system and location. I would strongly advise not to use them as well. read more

I needed to rent a car while visiting my sister in Washington state, the Tacoma area. I had reserved my car rental about a month and a half before I went to Washington. As I was leaving to pick up my rental I got a call from the agent, telling me that she did not have any rentals for me. She expressed to me that all the cars that she had in her rental office were already reserved for other people, I told her I also reserved a car a month and a half ago. She said I'm sorry but I can't give you a car I don't have a car to give, that to me just blows my mind so the other people that had a reservation were more important than my reservation apparently. Then she goes on to tell me that I could go to the airport office and pick up my car, if I wanted to do the airport I would've done it when I flew into Seattle. But I had no other option but to do the 45 minute drive back to the airport. Which was a big inconvenience for my family. Once I got to the airport rental office they tell me that because it's the airport office I would have to pay more for my car rental! I told them that I wasn't going to because it isn't my fault that they didn't have cars ready for me. That I had to travel 45 minutes out of my way to pick up the car when originally I was going to pick up the car a five minute drive from where my family lived. They eventually gave me the price that I had originally got through Costco. However I will never rent a car from Avis again because of the crazy runaround that they gave me. And they are not reliable when renting a car. I rented an Avis car when we went to Hawaii earlier this year in March and the car that we originally wanted they didn't have so we had to get another car which is smaller than what we wanted for six people. So I would try another company Avis does not put their customers first. read more

John was patient, What was a very anxious time for me becamekind and very funny and made this experience lovely. When we went in to get the car, he was So helpful and honest. Reserved a car, they didn't have it- or any?! Only attempt made to make it right is, "I will have some returns today, I simply don't have any cars." If I could give 0 stars I would. Went in to pick the rental car I had reserved back in November. Was told my debit card didn't go through, for the credit check. Asked why, and was told it just didn't go through. I have the funds in my account available. Had to add additional driver, which is my boyfriend. Before even agreeing to charges, they use his license and credit card and over charge him $288 bucks which the rental was supposed to be $211. My boyfriend says: a charge for $288 on my account, and my boyfriend asks why, and the customer service rep. Lies to him, and states I didn't charge you yet. Well pretty funny how $288 just magically popped up, from AVIS. Customer service rep was extremely rude. Didn't get his name. Will be filing a complaint tomorrow with the company. Was told the customer service department was closed, and will NEVER rent again from avis. read more

I have rented from this location for years and always have had great service. I can't recall the date John took over but grear service actually got better. John is always accommodating even when I have last minute requests/changes. He goes out of his way to have friendly conversation. The owner of this particular store was so easy to work with! We had to rent our Dodge Journey from him for WEEKS while we waited for our car to be repaired. We rented 2 weeks at a time, not knowing when our car would be ready. Always gave us a good price and was so easy to deal with! Can I give negative stars cause this place deserves it. Talk about a dump with the worst customer service ever. Reserved online and went to pick up only to find they weren't even there. I had to wait an hour for them to show up and then when I even started to express displeasure at them not being open in the middle of the day I received a lecture about how I was the least of all their customers because I reserved the same day and they were busy serving others. When I tried to stop the lecture I then got yelled out for being rude and interrupting... at which point I was refused service because apparently interrupting being yelled at is rude. We haven't even gotten to the fact it stunk in there and looked like an absolute dump... I had zero issues renting from enterprise later - and received amazing service there.... plus the office was clean, the employees were professional, and were oddly enough actually open during the day. Take your business to enterprise - don't bother with this sketchy disgusting hole. read more

I would encourage everyone to AVOID reserving a car through Avis located at 12413 Meridian Avenue East, Puyallup, WA 98373. Based on my personal experience on March 16, 2022, it is a shame on this office to refuse to get me the car that it was confirmed the previous day, fully paid through my card along with the insurance. I arrived at the location exactly as scheduled at 10:30 am. Instead of welcoming me and checking out the car, I was asked if I need help and when I asked about my reservation, he just simply stated that there is no car left and sorry for that. He added, you need to go and find another car from another location. So what happened to my reservation and confirmation, unfortunately as I was talking to no one, careless, and yet no solution. It cost me a lot: double the price + paying taxi + 6 hours of looking around to find a replacement from another location, stayed hungry all day until I solved their miss! My advice to all, be prepared! Thank you all and I wish you all the best to find a better location who could respect your reservation, thus care about their business and its reputation! read more

PHYSICALLY and VERBALLY ASSAULTED by the counter employee/manager today. Here's what happened: Manager (no other employee there) came out to the counter, told me he had no passenger car for me, and tried getting me to rent a pickup truck. I said corporate assured me they had them at this location today. He grabbed a wad of rental keys and threw them into a drawer, saying they are all truck and minivan keys. I said in a tired tone (not yelling or raising my voice) that customer service and his store needed to get on the same page with availability. I shook my head and said I'm going up the street to the competitor, and that he was being rude, slamming keys into the drawer and patronizing me. He told me I was being a child and demanded I leave. I immediately picked up my bags and went outside into the strip mall sidewalk and took a picture of the store (no pics taken while inside). He then stormed outside, folded his arms and pushed into me (assault), telling me it's illegal to take his picture (it's not illegal), and demanded I delete it. I shook my head and didn't delete it, and walked off to the street. He followed me, snapping pics with his phone literally inches from my face, then told me to come back after 6:00 when he's off work if I had a problem with him. I've filed reports, and action has been initiated against him. Please, don't use them! I ended up renting from their competitor up the street off 150th. Far better than this trash. read more

Horrible service from this location. I booked a car from this location weeks in advance, two hours prior to picking the rental up for a long weekend I got a call from John informing me that he was down grading the Full size car I booked to a mid size car (not going to work for 5 women traveling 1000 miles), he told me he was only calling as a courtesy because his fleet manager was done bringing cars out to this location and all he has available is a much smaller than ordered mid size car, when I said that wasn't going to work his response was that I could cancel then, again this is only 2 hours prior to my scheduled pick up. What good is it to order in advance if Avis isn't going to honor the order, I will never use Avis again, however Enterprise on 150th was 110% over the top helpful in my hour of need and had plenty of full sized cars available and even matched the price that Avis had quoted. On August 12th my husband and I rented a 16ft truck for our cross country move! We took the truck home and after a few tries realized we had unfortunately gotten the wrong size truck for our household. We waited until morning to call and see about getting a larger truck, the guy said all his 26ft trucks were rented and he'd see if he could find us one. We were already now a day behind our move! So we drove over there with the truck and asked if we could just return it because we didn't have time to wait for a larger truck when U-haul express storage NEXT DOOR! Had several trucks available for us, and at a cheaper cost! The man at Avis was pissed when we asked to return the truck he yelled at my husband because "we no longer wanted to do business with him" which wasn't exactly the case! We had made an honest mistake and they just weren't able to get us a larger truck and U-Haul next door could. Save yourself the trouble and just go next door. No customer deserves to be spoken to in the manner my husband was, thankfully customer service let us return the budget truck free of charge and we were able to continue on with our move. Ps. The manager of 5 years at this Avis car rental as I never asked for his name should take up some classes on customer service and maybe a few managerial courses as well. I had originally called to inquire on the rates between a minivan and a suburban. The agent I spoke with did say that the suburban would be slightly higher. Later I went to their office to make a reservation. I had explained the reason for the rental in December and stressed my concern for safety due to weather conditions. The agent said the rates would be the same for a minivan and suburban type suv. I did let him know the agent I spoke with on the phone told me otherwise. He looked perplexed but we moved on. He was nice to give me an option. He suggested to keep the reservation for the minivan and to make the change for the suburban type suv if on the day of pick up I felt the suburban type would be more fitting that day and if it was available. That agent was great. Later I decided if the rates were the same to switch to the suburban. I called and spoke with the 5 year manager. He told me there would be a price difference between the minivan and the suburban. I explained the whole scenario but I was OKAY with it. My only suggestion to him was to educate his employee the one I actually made the reservation with who said there was no rate difference. This was where the 5 year manager felt the need to pursue you said this you said that and that I never received the wrong quote. He was redundant and did not hear me out as a customer. He talked over me and did not stop to really listen. At that point I was extremely upset and told him to cancel my reservations. He gladly accepted. I now have reservations with Hertz. No problems. Horrible. Completed an on line reservation weeks in advance. Less than 24 hours in advance Jesse called and be told me that the 24' truck I reserved wasn't available and that only a 16' truck would be available. When I asked why this wasn't mentioned that very morning when I called I was told that he was the only one in the office and there was no way I could've talked to anyone but him. I was given the customer service number which I called and got a "reservation" agent who couldn't break down the detail of charges for me when asked that it be changed to reflect the truck I would actually be getting. Finally I was transferred to "customer service" to someone who was actually helpful and updated the reservation with an additional discount for my inconvenience. I called back to the location and PAUL answered who admitted he spoke to me that morning and assured me that the rest of my interactions would be cooperative and pleasant. I asked him to address the lie I was told since clearly he was in the office at least twice to take my phone calls. The next morning I called the branch again to make sure that all was set because I did not get a confirmation email of the changes. This time I spoke to Brandon "the owner" who conformity my reservation but started the additional insurance sales pitch. When I told him I was covered he wouldn't stop talking. Eventually when I called him out on his behavior because he kept cutting off every sentence I started, he got defensive and told me that I was being rude. Once the conversation ended I called my insurance just to be 150% sure (even though I had already checked) and sure enough I was covered for any rental for personal use with a GVW of 15,000 pounds or less. The truck weighed in at 12,500 pounds. When I arrived I was greeted with snide comments such as "this must be..." And sideways sneers. I confirmed to them that my insurance would cover me and was again given a song and dance routine about some other customer with the same company who just called and was told ....blah blah blah. Again I relayed that I was covered. I signed the documents and while waiting for the truck to be pulled around I was talking with my fiancé and Brandon came out to confront us on what was being said between us about him. I suppose he felt powerful when he "decided" that he needed to finish with his customer inside (that he so conveniently left to confront us) and walked away. While signing the last document on the walk around with Jesse (the liar from the day before) I again confront his lies only to be met with "I don't appreciate you're tone or your candor". He called me rude for confronting his lies! Although I didn't stoop further to mention this to him but candor means honesty or frankness. Clearly he just didn't like being faced with the truth. I left with the truck only because I was sure they would charge me more to cancel but am taking it back in less than 24 hours so they can't make any money off of me. I would give them ZERO stars if the program let me! Liars, aggressive and rude! Don't deal with them! read more
