This was my first time renting with Avis , I pre paid in advance, my rental was for 8am , I get there on time.the representative comes late He tells me my car is out side, I go inspect the car ,I take a video and pics of all issues I see .one major issue and huge safety issue was a gash in the tire , than the car was filthy, the guy goes "we have a suv "I go look ,that suv was filthy inside and out .i was heated like how I prepaid and come on time ready to go and no one thought let me inspect all the vehicles the day before for our clients to make sure it's safe and ready.they inconvenienced me all the way.i had to delay my long distance trip.smh never going to this location again . read more

Never will I ever rent from this company ever again Avis and Budget. They have the worst customer service. They give you ridiculous reasons why they can't refund you for days no service was provided at the time you return the car. They ask you to call their 800 number for any fee adjustment. It takes you forever to speak to someone then they give you a run around on who to speak to. So never again!!!! read more

We had to book last minute at Avis Fairfield after we arrived at Hertz down the street at 12:10 on a Saturday and they closed at 12 (pickup was for 12). Avis Rental price was ok, and car was new and fine. Staff could use some lessons on grace. 2 star because when we checked car out fuel was at 1/2 and I took a photo and guy checking us out agreed. When returning paper work said FULL fuel and they tried to charge us for. NOT filling it...another customer came in and had the same 1/2 tank discussion. Cars are ok, but be very aware when picking up the car and document everything very well to avoid being charged unfairly. read more

I started using them because Fairfield Hertz was so bad. All the problems that drove me here have followed. Dirty cars..one person working who could care less...most likely doesn't get paid enough to care. Disappointing...now left with no good in town rental options. read more

WORST SERVICE. HORRIBLE STAFF. 15 minute late, 1 day additional charges. Rent else where. We rented a car for the day at 11:00. The guy tried to give us a smaller car than what we had paid for. Once we complied, they took forever to prepare the car (class) we had rented. We left their parking lot at 11:30 and brought it back the next day at 11:45. Loui (a skinny with a beard of Indian descent - who refused to give me his real name) charged us for an additional day for being late 15 minutes. We asked for a manager. A guy name Norman (who was washing his personal car - blue Subaru with green rims) walked in looking like a bum and total disrespect to us as customers ... very unprofessional and said nothing I can for you, you're 15 minutes late and left. Even though there is a 30 minutes complimentary delay. This place is despicable both "Louie" and "Norman" were unprofessional and rude. The price of the car per day was $42, and we were charged $83 for returning the car 15 minutes late. I called customer service and was told that the car was checked out at 11:00 and returned at 11:45 the next day, which is true but they did not take into consideration the fact that they gave us the car 30 minutes late due to the fact that they had to wash the car and prepare it for us. I strongly urge the community to stay away from this particular Avis/Budget. A company can hid behind the fine print, but at the end of the day, 15 minutes delay does not equal an additional day of charges. In the end, we spoke with customer service for over an hour, and were told that the best they can do is charge us for 1 hour delay at $32 per hour - keep in mind the price for an entire day is $42. Service was horrible. Returning the car was a nightmare. They had one person working and he said he had to get a manager to come down and check out the car from the system (which never happened). Complete waste of time and money to go here. They also tried to overcharge on the rental. I strongly recommend making sure you have the receipt from them before you leave the rental back at the location. When I called customer service the guy actually tried to argue with me over the phone about checking out the vehicle (I made sure of this before I left the car back at the location but apparently the employee just lied to me). The car I received also had a few problems of its own. The check oil indicator came on, which is not something you want to see if you have to drive 500+ miles the next day. read more

Horrible service. Went 2 months early to rent a car for my birthday. They said they'll call me because it was so far away & didn't. I called them 2 weeks before my birthday they still said they'll get back to me. Went there the day before my birthday they had me pick a mustang that was there, told me to sit inside to get a feel of it just to tell me that it already been rented & they had nothing there for me. I was pissed! I made reservations months before my birthday & still the day before my birthday they didn't have anything ready! My boyfriend had to call & argue before someone could take us seriously. The morning of my birthday Ish called to say he FINALLY got the car i needed. When I went Ish nor Abdul was there. This is always our go-to spot to rent when we're visiting the area. We had a great experience renting here recently. I booked an economy car at the last minute but it turned out they didn't have the right car in stock. Norman was very helpful and friendly, and helped us get into a much nicer, luxury car only a few dollars more per day. The only problem is that now we've grown accustomed to driving in luxury, it will be hard to go back home and drive our ten year old Toyota Matrix. If you can, I would avoid this car rental agency like the plague. Recently I went online to rent a car, on the Budget website. I went to this branch and they told me they have no car available. I then asked why they accepted my online registration and they just shrugged. They mumbled that they are a franchise and they don't answer to Budget corporate. I was advised I have to wait 24 hours to get my money back. Second they taken out multiple deposits out of my card and charged me multiple extra fees. Rented a car on 9/5 to drive to the airport. Entered I-95 at Round Hill Rd. Front right tire fell off the car as we passed Mill Plain Rd. We were nearly killed. Called this location multiple times+ No response. Reported to local police, state police and Avis Roadside assistance. despite multiple calls to Ish the owner, Corporate Avis states there are no notations on our record. Absolutely, shockingly, unacceptably rude and horrible service provided from this location to a long-term customer. I have been renting cars here for about 10 years. I had a car booked for Presidents Day weekend. I have my baby and my 4 year old with me. The man at the desk says "you cancelled your reservation". I told him 10 times that I did not cancel. He said we have no cars and you cancelled... "I can't help you. If you want to call the 1-800 number they can help you." So, with my cell phone because he would not let me use the phone, I call the 800 number. The incredibly professional and helpful man on the phone says immediately, yes, I do have a reservation. The nasty guy just keeps saying, no. I don't. So I asked the 2 to speak to one another at which point the nasty guy tries to tell me that I asked for Avis but that the rental was for Budget which is not true because the store says Budget AND Avis and I don't remember who I booked it with. I just knew I booked a car at the same place I always book my car. It was a very uncomfortable experience that took almost an hour which made us miss our dinner reservation with family in Vermont. The nasty guy actually had a moment of clarity and apologized. I go to the car and it absolutely wreaks of marijuana. This is the 2nd time that I rented a car here that stunk of marijuana. I assume drug dealers rent cars to transport their drugs. He agrees that it smells and asked me if it is OK since I have kids. I asked him if I have a choice and he said no, so I took the car. This car smelled like weed the entire weekend. I am convinced that there was a bag of weed in the car somewhere but could not find it. Long story short, he told me that if I am back a little late that there is a grace period and we won't be charged. Our rental was for 1:00pm. I was right on time but we got the car at 2:00 thanks to their mistake. I returned the car at 3:00 pm which I said was an hour late. He said no, it is 2 hours late and charged me $65!!! The daily rental fee is $30. This is how they treat long term customers. I argued but he stood his ground so I called the 800 number again. They took 25% off the late charge. I am pissed. Then he checks the tank which I had filled about 10 minutes earlier and tells me that it is at 7/8ths a tank and that they charge $9 a gallon to fill it. I told him that I just filled it. He stood his ground again so I pile the kids in the car and drive back to the same gas station at which point the tank won't take any gas. I force $1.35 into the tank and show him the receipt at which point he says some of the cars gas gauges don't work very well. The story ends with Uber showing up to bring us back to the train. I told the Uber driver the story and he said he will never rent their again because he too had very bad experience where he was charged almost $200 more than he was expecting. Enterprise is about a 1/2 mile away. Run away from this place. read more
