I hardly write nasty reviews. I'm very saddened by the owner's behavior and how confusing it was the other day when my fiancé rented a moving truck from Budget/Avis and was told that he could leave the keys if he wanted but there's no Dropbox...and to leave it where he could find it but it could also get stolen. Umm, that's totally weird. So I had to drop it off the next day when they are open on the weekends for only FOUR hours (10 am - 2 pm) b/c he couldn't go. And you get charged $10 if it's late. So basically the owner banks on everyone being late... What we thought was going to be a budget saver of less than $100, ended up costing almost $200 with his insistence on insurance, etc. I unfortunately have to agree with others. We will never rent from this location again. And I'll be reporting him to their headquarters. read more

So it all started when I reserved a 26' truck online. So the next day I go to the location before it opens to make sure they had a truck on the lot for me. Which they had two. So I go get breakfast and come back, when I get there I walk into the sears car shop, and ask about the truck. They point to the back of there show room. The sears guy says "he probably won't shoot you for walking behind the counter. " So the rental shop is about as big as a broom closet. And there's a sign on the counter saying that the rental employee is "detailing cars for sears " I thought that was strange especially since they weren't connected. So then this man appears and I explain I made a reservation for a 26' truck. And the man told me he didn't care he doesn't have a truck for me. So I said well I paid for it. And he said no all I did was put my credit card on file. I asked why would it let me make a reservation if you don't have truck for me to rent ? He told me that I could make a reservation in front of him and he still wouldn't have a truck for me. At this point in getting up set and I ask if he can check some where else because I needed a truck I was on a time line. Which he responded he didn't have access to that. So I asked how do I get a truck ? He responded I would have to call the budget customer service number And he couldn't help me. Which I did and they didn't have a truck in the portland area. I express my dissatisfaction with them and how I was on a time line and now I would have to find something else. But I was astonished at how rude this guy was to me. Yeah, i mean the only nice thing about this place is I was in and out in less then 5 minutes. Guy was hard to talk to. I reserved a "premium" car. I don't see much premium about it at all. It was nice getting out of there so fast. I've never had that happen at other car rental locations. Besides that, not much more to say. read more

After my car wreck I had to search everywhere to find a rental car (since it is right before spring break I guess...) and there are NONE out there. That said, my last best hope was Paul Wu at Avis near Washington Sq. He clearly is not cut out for a customer service type role. He was rude to all 4 customers that he came into contact with while I was in the rental office. His demeanor was aggressive and unkind. The requirements of renting from him were just outright silly: credit check? SSN? seriously? I rented cars all over Florida with my visa debit card without a hitch. My experience at his site was so unpleasant that I will never, ever, ever, unless it's a life or death situation, rent from AVIS or BUDGET ever ever ever ever (x infinity) again. DO NOT GO HERE! TRUST ME! Enterprise is a few minutes down the road and they are fabulous!!! read more

I'm using budget truck rental for my business, this branch is the worst I ever used. I did a reservation for 26 ft truck, couple days advance and sales man said, I can take my truck at 8 am, but when I came to take this truck, he said I called you yesterday, but I got your number wrong, you truck will be able at 10-10:30 and I'm not sure, may be later, I don't know exactly. actually it's already second time, when I have a problems with this branch, I did reservation online and day before, they said we don't have available trucks for this date and that was the big problem to find truck almost on the same day. So, if you want be sure you'll get your truck on the exact time and date, the best way chose the other branch, I very like budget truck rental service, but this place is terrible, especially the main guy there, he didn't say even sorry. read more

RENTER BEWARE!! Major misrepresentation by Paul Wu who was rude and was in a rush to get paperwork done. I rented a van to take my daughter from Oregon to DC. I asked the cost of theft of contents in the van (jewelry, computer, clothes, etc.) Paul sold me Emergency Sickness Protection for $40. Emergency Sickness Protection states "ESP in available only to Canadian renters and renters who possess a valid non-U.S. passport . . ." At the beginning of the rental, I showed Paul my Oregon driver's license, so he obviously knew I WAS NOT a Canadian citizen. Paul Wu obviously does not know anything about the Optional Protection Plans offered by the Avis company he represents. Second, Paul tried to rush me in inspecting the rental van for scratches, dents, etc. He was very rude and VERY impatient for me to look over the van -- it really takes less than a minute to scan a rental vehicle as I have rented many times. Third, I went to pick up the rental van 90 minutes before the time I had scheduled to pick it up. Paul charged me $130 more because I picked it up 90 minutes before, but I called him on it and asked if I picked it up at 12:30 p.m. and changed my drop off time to 12:30 p.m. would I still get charged the $130 more than quoted on my reservation sheet. Well, no I would not get charged -- Paul had to rip up my old contract and write a new one. Paul could have said if I picked up the rental 90 minutes early and dropped it off 90 minutes early (8 days later), then the original charge would not change. Paul Wu at Avis in the Washington Square Tigard store has terrible customer service, tries to rip off you as a customer, and does not know everything he should have learned in his training about the policies, and specifically the Optional Protection Plans offered by Avis. DO NOT RENT at this location. If you absolutely must -- READ ALL THE FINE PRINT and what you are being charged and why -- question everything! read more

I reserved a moving truck online and set the pickup location to the Budget rental center on Canyon Road. The night before I was to pick up the truck, a representative from Budget called and informed me my pick-up lication was changed to the rental office at Washington Square. I'm here now. I've been here for nearly an hour. Two people have been served. The office is serviced by a single representative. He seems frustrated and tired, but he has to deal with archaic equipment and a overly long line of customers. Each transaction takes half-an-hour to complete. A dot matrix printer and computer that does not meet the needs of the job are the primary issues he has to contend with. I recommend using a competitor. The extra money is worth not having to deal with this inefficiency. This is 2018, not 1988. read more

I travel extensively and had rented vehicles in past years from this location as I do wine tours, with no issue whatsoever. However this past experience makes certain I will use an other Avis/Budget location. As kind as I tried to be, what I received was rude, uncooperative, passive agressive, and tried his best to make sure I paid an extra $200 for my rental. Just picked up the rental car for our kids visit..... super disappointed and irritated! I reserved a Ford Expedition 6 months ago. It was the only thing that was big enough to fit all six of us plus room for luggage. So we get there to pick it up, and there's no expedition at all, anywhere. I ended up with an ugly minivan. For almost the same price. Not quite sure we're going to be able to fit everybody's luggage in that little tiny space. Plus, we have to put the seat up and down every time we want to get into the way back. I could understand if it was a last minute reservation, but I reserve this 6 months ago. You think that's plenty of time to get the car to the lot.Or at least let me know they couldn't provide what I ordered. If I woulda known they weren't going to have it, I would have gone to enterprise, and got a nicer minivan. Never using Avis again! read more

This place is HORRIBLY run. Paul Wu (the main guy who works there) is rude, always in a hurry and doesn't even try to have customer service. The wait is horribly long when only one other person is in front of you. Do yourself and favor and drive somewhere else (even if it's way out of your way) to rent a truck or car. Yep same experience as everyone else. and my first Yelp review ever. Paul has no place in customer service, and I've dealt with him and his sh*t for 10 years. my 11 year old son with ADD could run things better. first off maybe take a shower once a week. then maybe learn how to type, since confirming a pre-established rental seems to take PAGES of index-only finger typing. Then maybe show some interest in your job and customer service, and don't be such an Ahole. I asked about what other cars were available, he said "go ahead and look outside", then was unwilling to even consider me changing cars (in the same class). The icing on this brown cake was last year when my rental broke down on the OR coast and he and the district manager - Lester Gates - refused to help resolve anything. I had to rent another car (from Enterprise), get the Avis car fixed and returned, and file a claim against AVIS, which only reimbursed me $195 of the $800 bill. I rented budget trucks there a couple of times. The first time, Paul Wu (the guy that runs it) really rubbed me the wrong way. The second time I had to use the place I came prepared: I got there early, before it opened, because I knew the line gets very long waiting for the printer, and that computer to connect to what I must assume is somehow 28k dial-up internet. I kept a calm demeanor as Paul laid out the hard sell on the added insurance. I already knew my insurance company would cover me. When I refused, he whipped out a form I had to fill out with all my insurance info including policy number, and how much coverage they cover. But I just refused to fill in the parts I didn't know. And guess what? It's not required! It's just something he tries to get people to do, hahaha! I remained ice cold the whole time, which Paul really respected. I'm sure he's used to customers getting pissy with him every single time. But I didn't let him get a rise out of me. One good thing is that this place ALWAYS has trucks available. I'm giving this one star because it is required to leave a review. I rent a car at least once a month for work and this was the worst customer service I have ever received. Mr. Paul Wu treated me with such disrespect. Every issue that arose was answered with call customer service. Each time I called customer service I was told that is an issue Paul Wu could resolve. He did not honor the price that was quoted online. Gas gauge was broken on the moving truck. I would literally move things by hand before ever renting from this location again. read more

Do not rent from here unless you like hostile, rude service, long waits when only one person is in front of you and a printer that might be from the dark ages. The guy who runs it clearly hates every moment of his job. He wasn't there when I came to pick up my car and there was a hand written note to ask a Sears Auto employee call him. There were no Sears employees anywhere in sight. I waited about 10 minutes before he showed up. He muttered to himself about how I'd booked it at the last moment (the day before) and that the car might not be clean. My car was fine but when I returned it two days later I had another terrible experience. There was a couple in front of me waiting to rent a moving truck but were on a long phone call trying to get insurance info. The guy didn't even acknowledge me. Finally I asked if he could quickly come check my vehicle so I could leave--I had an Uber on the way to pick me up. He told me he was helping the other couple. He was literally standing there. They were on their phone call a long time. Then he printed out their 4-feet long rental agreement on a dot matrix printer which took forever. I asked again if he could step away to look at my car and he said he couldn't. Finally the customers said he could go help me while they read the agreement. He checked my car but I needed a receipt for my business travel. Finally, as the Uber driver had been waiting about 15 minutes, I agreed to have him email me the receipt. This is a joke of a rental office and I can't believe Budget tolerates it being operated this way, as clearly by the terrible reviews, this is typical. read more

Please save your time and energy and DO NOT rent any trucks from this location. My service was horrible and it is difficult to describe and even write my experience without using inappropriate language. If selecting a negative rating was an option then this business would be lucky enough to receive it! I never worked with anyone that was so unprofessional and rude. Within minutes the owner rushed us and barely could provide a good explanation of the contract. We also asked him if the truck was serviced recently and he informed us that it was. Long story short the truck broke down! Budget sent a mechanic to inspect the vehicle. We waited for over six hours before receiving a tow to the city and the mechanic informed us that the vehicle had not been serviced in over 30,000 miles. He said that the transmission was completely gone! Mr. Wu was aware that our trip was over 2,000 miles and he must have felt confident and comfortable in providing us a vehicle that was not in a good condition. I look back at the situation now and realize that I should have canceled the rental within the first couple of minutes of meeting Mr. Wu. His introduction and level of service set the expectations very low and it saddens me that he continues to represent a business that provides service nationwide. read more
