NIGHTMARE Shockingly awful. I had a confirmed reservation for 10am this morning. When I called to book it, the FIRST TWO QUESTIONS I asked were 1. do you have THIS CAR at THIS LOCATION? 2. do you actually have access to this information? I was told "yes." I then had to give my personal data, including address, phone, email, credit card. I received a call at 9:24am informing me they had NO CARS AT ALL. When I said, hey, wait, I have a confirmation AND I had specifically asked if the car was avail and did the woman have this insight. Sean said she "doesn't have any information" & he was canceling my "reservation." I asked what I should do, he said "I dunno" in just that lazy tone. He NEVER apologized, he never offered to help me. Acted like I was the hassle. If Sean were my employee, he'd be gone by now. I will never rent at Budget (which is also Avis, fyi). I'm still appalled. I rented a moving truck from here and showed up at 9am (when they opened) to pick up my truck...proceeded to wait 45 minutes(I only scheduled the truck for 4 hours) to be helped and was charged more than 2x what I had expected. I booked with budget because I had a USAA discount code...and when I booked the reservation was quoted 48$ for 4 hours of moving @ 25 miles round trip...I show up to get the truck and am told that the BASIC insurance is 54$ and that I also have to give them a 150$ deposit. Spent my last $$ on a fucking truck & that's not EVEN the worst part. We pack up the truck with all of our belonging including my 4 year olds stuff and as we drove to our new place a LIVE COCKROACH runs across the dashboard and THEN we found another in the back of the truck when unloading...I tried calling customer service and they said that they could not discuss compensation until I returned the truck...I asked if I could return it to a closer location and was told that I would be charged extra for that....I AM DISGUSTED and worried now that one might have gotten into our belongings and not a single person offered any sort of solution, compensation or even a sincere apology. I was questioned about the cockroaches because he "didn't appear to see any" and that he's "never heard of this happening in his 15years of dealing w trucks"...this is a load of BS and he knew it. I have tried dealing with customer service to try and get reimbursed or compensated somehow but have been given the run around for the last few days. AVIS & Budget are both working under this Beaverton location 10385 SW Canyon Rd, Beaverton, OR 97005 After being stranded in Wyoming with bald tires, there is no way I would recommend Avis to anyone. We are out over $2,000 from this experience due to buying new tires, tow, and hotel stays. Avis left us stranded in the middle of WY while their customer service lied to us multiple times. When they finally helped us they towed the car 3 hrs from our 2nd stranded location and left us to pay for the tires after telling us they would pay. Our entire vacation was ruined due to this experience. The only reason we were not left stranded the whole time was due to calling the Highway Patrol in WY for help otherwise we would probably be stuck in the middle of no where to this day! Customer Service is based out in another country where they have scripted comments and trying to get them to understand your plight is liking pulling teeth. If you don't choose their insurance be prepared to get absolutely no help ever. Worst experience!! Thanks Avis for ruining my trip and giving me an unsafe car to drive. **** Update 06/27/23 - today (a month later) AVIS tried charging my card in the amount of $1376.11 for tires!!!!! The back seat had (I don't even know what) in the seams. The outside of the car was not cleaned. And the people behind the counter are not very friendly. I don't think they like their jobs much or something. But when I returned my rental car the lady did not even look at me. Just took the keys and sent me on my way. Now I'm at day 12 business days and still have not received my $250 deposit. It is so very frustrating that they hold on to that much money for this long. But than I have to work to get my money back. I have sat on hold for way to long waiting to speak to someone for the second time. Scamming customers with overpriced cleaning fees, details below if interested. Not to mention the horrible customer service from the staff. Picked up a car that had an extremely strong cigarette smoke odor and I was told that there were no other vehicles available. Since this was for a work trip and there is a shortage of rental vehicles due to covid I took the car anyways, this is my fault. The odor was noted on the inspection document before I received the keys. When I returned the car I provided this inspection document and had a conversation with the staff so they were aware this was preexisting damage. The location waited 2 months before sending me a $450 cleaning fee in the mail for the smoke odor, I'm sure hoping I would have lost the documentation. The documentation I signed says its $250 fee for smoking in the car so I'm not sure where the extra $200 comes from but guess that's just a cherry on top. read more

I made my "reservation" for a moving truck rental a month in advance. The day before the scheduled pickup date they send an email saying the reservation is canceled. I call their help line and they tell me they made another reservation and everything is good to go for today. 2 hours before I am supposed to pick up the truck I get another email telling me it's been cancelled again. I call the help line again and they are nice but utterly useless. So I now have a packed house that I need to be out of this weekend and movers coming to load up a truck that doesn't exist. I am not one to leave yelp reviews (much less bad ones) but this was such horrible service, I had to. The person (middle aged white man with brown hair) at the desk was quite rude and unhelpful, barely acknowledged us when we came in. I had been calling all morning to check what the deposit was to make sure I would be able to make the payment on my credit card or if it could be split in two. After getting no answer, drove half an hour just to have my trip ruined and be treated like shit in front of my child on Mother's Day (and no he didn't even mention it). Returned my vehicle an hour before it needed to be returned. The person at the front desk was helping another couple, asked if I was returning I said yes, he took my keys put them in a manila envelope. I got charged for an additional two days because he did not put it in the system as returning until two days later. Budget credited me only for the days not the taxes and service fee I disputed several times with the main customer service line they went up to management both times management came back and said that there was no issues for my return date. I never got an actual receipt of returning the vehicle so now I have to have an affidavit from my sister who drop me off and pick me up at that location for me to get the money back. It was $121 for the fees total, my next step is going to dispute with my credit card company. This should not be the case. read more

Based on my 3 local rentals at this location, I've been pleased with the service and efficiency every time. Last two are freshest in my mind this year, so I'll use those. Both have been mini van rentals to move daughter back into college. Both were Toyota Siennas. The first was a hybrid, which was immaculate, low mileage on odometer and got fantastic gas mileage. Loved it! The one yesterday, not nearly as nice. It was not a hybrid so the gas mileage was quite a bit less efficient. There were 47k miles on the van, and you can tell it has been rented by people who dont care about things they dont own themselves. Bluetooth wouldnt connect and the phones list was all past renters that couldnt be deleted, so no access to music when the radio cuts out. I could never figure out the cruise control, ( it just said off and wouldnt switch), and the interior really could use a good deep cleaning. Maybe if renters didnt act like slobs? I am noting that this is right after the holiday rush and right after a week of on and off " Oregon snow", so I understand why it would have been hard to really get the van spotless on such quick turnaround times. It served its 24 hr purpose for us. In terms of service, Raia had helped me both rentals. She was very efficient and managed to both chat and work simultaneously with me. Two great experiences with her. Perhaps you get what you give, sometimes? Will definitely rent from this location in the future, without question. Thanks! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We reserved and pre-paid for a convertible about a month in advance at the Avis branch of this location. We specifically wanted a convertible so we could drive up the coast to Seattle and then Vancouver as part of our wedding/honeymoon trip. We called the morning of and asked if we could pick up the car early... sure, no problem, it's waiting for you! We got to the lot and there was no convertible to be found. The guy at the desk didn't realize that they brought a hard top and not a convertible (the car was brand new and very nice... but definitely small and NOT ideal for sightseeing). We were told that there had been 4 convertible reservations but only 2 cars available... so we were SOL. Why did your reservations system even let that happen, and why weren't we notified of the issue in advance??? When we complained, we were given a small discount and were told we could speak to the territory manager, Lester Gates. Well, I did reach Lester when we returned the car at the end of our trip, and he said he'd get to the bottom of the issue and would call me back. That was almost 3 months ago now... no call back from Lester. I don't care if the guy at the desk said we got a "great deal" on a nice car. We didn't get the type of car we splurged for for our wedding/honeymoon trip, and apparently they don't care if their customers are satisfied. I will never rent from Avis again. read more

Wish I could give this place negative stars. This is more of a review about corporate Budget as it is this local location. Made a reservation over a month ago for a minivan through the website for a Sunday after 12pm pickup. Got the confirmation email and text the day before saying I could pick up the vehicle anytime AFTER 12pm. Showed up to this location at 12:30pm and the office is closed....the close at 12pm every Sunday. Would have been nice to know that even though my appointment, confirmation email, and day before text specifically said to pick up AFTER 12pm. Just shows you there is little to no communication between corporate and local offices. Called the corporate office to see if I can get the vehicle from another location and there is nothing open or available. I then ask if I can just pick up my vehicle from the original location the next day and they said there were no mini vans available and that I would be charged extra for one less day of rental, how does that work? It's not my fault I show up when instructed and the office is closed AND now they don't even have my vehicle that I specifically pre-paid for. After all this I request to just cancel my reservation and they attempted to charge me a cancellation fee. I ended up talking to a supervisor after being on hold for 20 minutes and finally get my reservation cancelled. Worst customer service, communication, and just simple logistics EVER! I was so upset that I refuse to rent from budget. I was gonna get a lawyer over this, we are talking about over a thousand dollars here so yeah I was upset. And so would you! Well, at the end of August 2020, budget gave me back my money unexpectedly. You don't know how happy I was. So in return, i thank God for budget, and decided to return the karma back. They gave us a car with a flat tire and when we took it back to get a different car they asked why we didn't get it patched like it was our fault. The second car they gave us was way smaller and didn't get as good of gas mileage. We were charged too much for a one day truck rental. So I called the corporate office- and was told that we needed to take it up with the store we rented from. So my father went back to talk about them and was told that he would have to talk to the man that directly rented him the truck since this gentleman didn't know exactly what had happened. That was after waiting on hold for corporate for over 30 minutes and standing in line for over an hour. It was not worth it. I pre-paid and reserved a car at this location, and when I arrived at the scheduled time, there was a line. I waited and waited, then noticed a hand lettered sign hanging on the wall stating that if your reservation wasn't made at least 48 hours in advance they couldn't guarantee a car. There was nothing online about this policy. Thankfully I went up and asked, and sure enough, no cars! I would have waited a very long time only to find out I didn't have a car. There was only one guy working on a very busy Saturday morning. I went next door to Enterprise car rental which had great customer service and available cars. It took 3 phone calls to customer service at Budget to receive a confirmation of my money back (twice they hung up just after answering). I kind of felt sorry for the guy at the counter, he was doing the best he could, but I would never go here again. read more

I would give zero stars but I can only give one. We rented our moving truck 10/19/18 at about 2:30pm and when we received it had a full tank. We returned the truck 10/20/2018 at about 10:30am. Only used 22 miles. We topped the truck off which only cost about $3.30. When we went to return the truck there was only one person working with about 5 people ahead of me. I decided to put the key in the box and leave as I had other things to do (big mistake). I have bad anxiety so I needed to know that my keys had been acknowledged (as the truck was to be back by 3:00pm. I called several times to confirm but no answer so I at about 2:00 pm I just went back to the location. The same guy who was working earlier stated they had accepted my truck but the tank wasn't full (umm excuse me yea it was) we had topped it off before we dropped it off. Apparently it wasn't topped off so we were charged $50 freakin dollars. That was more than the damn rental itself. Budget is a joke. one more time I have referred this Budget location to a friend with a transportation crisis. I noticed the negative reviews and felt compelled to comment. I rent with some frequency, and have found this Budget location to be dependable, efficient, and very competitive. Sometimes I've had to wait 20 or 30 minutes when picking up a car but returning is effortless and quick. I have had to wait for other customers also picking up their rentals and it takes understandably a few minutes to process the transactions. Overall the service has been excellent when compared to other car rental venues. read more

While I agree with other reviewers that this location is understaffed and there always seems to be an extended wait in order to rent a reserved vehicle, overall, the cars have been priced fair and we've always received what we've ordered.
