So if I need to rent on a Sunday or late hour I go through the one at Ontario Airport. I rented a car from this location and received the worst customer service I can ever remember. I would tell you the name of their horrible employee, but she never seems to wear a name tag (I wouldn't wear a name tag either if I were her). She made my life miserable on two separate occasions. The first time I was at this location with her, she was extremely angry with me; she blamed me for exchanging a large SUV which I received from this Upland location (they've moved from Montclair) for a compact car. I made the exchange at their Irvine location. She told me that they rarely received SUV's from corporate, and I gave away one of the location's most in-demand cars. There is no way she should have bothered me with her complaint. First of all, I was totally unaware that I had given away their prized SUV. Second of all, that is not my concern. My only concern was getting the car I wanted, and her only concern should have been making her customer happy. She had absolutely no interest in making her customer happy, and it showed. When I returned the car a week later, she gave me more grief. To make a long story short, this woman gave me more grief than she had a week earlier. During our conversation, she told me two things I will never forget. First she told me that I wouldn't have argued with her if she wasn't a woman. When I was leaving, I asked her if she thought I had received good customer service from her. Got dropped off here and waited for about 15 minutes for the employee to show up just to tell me they have no cars available. Who the heck receives a rental car with only a half tank of gas?!!! They gave me a car with a half tank of gas and asked me to verify and sign for that reading. I rented the car to drive to Vegas and after 150 miles the car was empty and I had to refuel in the middle of the fricking desert. What kind of service is that? I will also mention the car had not been cleaned. Trash in the armrest compartment and dirt on the floor mats. Vito the owner was very nice when I rented the car, even though we waited 10 mins while the attendant texted in the back and did not care about people out front and Vito was outside for a smoke break . It was a nice car but was so dirty we had to take it to get cleaned it was just nasty.Could they just clean the car , it looked like it had not been washed in months. When I returned the car their was a upgrade charge for the car and I was like WTF..... Vito had added the upgrade charge and never told us even tho the car was in the same class we had reserved . Inside of car was dirty when I picked it up and it had been a long time since it had been cleaned. There were toe nails on the back floor board and a foot print on the front windshield. You could see the foot print because the windshield had that filmy residue that a car gets when you haven't washed the inside windows in some time. When I complained, I was told I should have refused the car. Of course, who searches for toe nails and foot marks when they pick a vehicle up. I was hundreds of miles away when I noticed. I picked the car up and it was a 1/4 tank and they couldn't provide the car I asked for even though I had called two days before and was promised that it would be there. He actually admitted to promising that the model I wanted would be there but then told me that they rented it before I got there. He said I should have been happy with what I got. One employee told me that I could bring the car back three hours late to make up for switching cars on me and then when I returned the car the manager tried to tell me that he was not going to allow that. He finally agreed to let it slide, which was probably smart on his part because I had witnesses to the promise of the extra time. I have rented several cars and have never had such rude service nor can I remember ever getting a car that was dirty when I picked it up. This Avis branch is THE WORST. Last Thursday (4/26) I had a reservation through Costco to pick up my car rental at 6 PM. However, knowing that they close at 6, I got off work earlier so that I could get there by 5:30. When I arrived, the door was locked and there was no one inside the store. Two ladies nearby who had just picked up their rental told me to wait five more minutes and if no one shows up, then the lady probably left already. Keep in mind that this was 30 minutes before their stated closing time. I waited around for another 10 minutes and still didn't see anyone so I decided to call Avis customer service. I informed them that their employee was not in the office and that I had a reservation to pick up my rental. Initially I was ok with picking up the car from a different location but when I asked the customer service representative to honor the price of the reservation that I made a week prior (which included a free day and up to 25% off Avis base rates), they said they could not do that and even try to sell me a four day rental for $300! The reservation I had made originally had only been $80.62! When I got off the phone with the customer service representative, the two ladies who I had saw earlier came back to the Avis store pissed. They stated that when they were going through the process of picking up their rental, the worker looked like she was in a hurry. As soon as they finished their paper work, the lady threw the keys at them and told them to go look for their car. After they found their rental, they saw that the SUV they had originally made a reservation for was now a compact car. In addition, the car had not been cleaned yet and was caked in mud inside and out. Long story short, I ended up having to make a last minute rental which costed me more than double. If management at this Montclair branch is reading this, whichever employee you had working the closing shift on 4/26 needs to be fired. I made a reservation and picked up the car with no problem. They even took the time to explain the difference between carrying the rental insurance and just using my own insurance for coverage. I booked and paid online, I went to the AVIS/BUDGET location on time and was told by an employee that they didn't have any cars available for me. I was instructed to call customer service myself to figure it out. I called customer service and they rebooked me to another AVIS//BUDGET. I asked customer service rep Claudia to confirm that they do have a car available for my use. She assured me even said it was cheaper, so I head over there. When I'm about to turn into the parking lot now at the second AVIS/BUDGET location get a call from them saying ... you guessed it that there are no cars available for my use. She proceeds to tell me that there is nothing she could do, and I should .... anyone cate to guess? Answer: I should call customer service. If it's one thing they all do well is give you this same speel to call customer service. I ended up canceling it all and I'm hoping they don't commit fraud because when I asked to provide me with a confirmation or receipt or even email saying I will get refunded she said she that she couldn't. Oh and this is after she told me I will get an email saying I was a no show to my reservations and will be charged $150. First time and last time with this company. We booked a mini SUV, prepaid and showed up to find "they didn't have one." That's fine (despite seeing a mini SUV in the parking lot and the technology available today to be able to have live-time inventory updates)...but the lady at the desk with the attitude was the most off-putting. She let us know she attempted to call to inform us - unfortunately our phone was dead and not resetting. But upon arrival she did not offer any compensation or avenue of resolution other than saying we could get the available Tahoe, but for more money since we are "last minute." She was unapologetic and unkind. Vito would've never treated a customer this way. This employee obviously doesn't care about her employer, or this establishment. How gracious of her to take the time out of her day to look up our confirmation number, since our phone was dead. I can tell she really felt she went out of her way for that one. Don't come here. We were heading over to rent a car for the next day. It had been a busy day. We got to the counter right in the nick of time before it closed. He took down our information, had everything ready to go, and when we were having trouble locating our insurance information, he said I'm not going to give you a car. My sister booked this online, and for a previous road trip my mother had used this place to rent a car for a weeklong trip to Canada.
