After a full runaround for over a week, I'm still giving nowhere regarding property left in my rental vehicle. I dropped off my rental vehicle Monday the 11th right before closing. When I realized I left product behind I called first thing Tuesday morning with the store opened they were too busy to talk to me at that time and they said they will call me back hours later. They never called back so I called them back to come to find out. They couldn't help me anymore because now the vehicle has been rented. I want to preface by saying that the only reason I'm giving any stars at all is because the front desk staff were so kind and accommodating. However, the vehicles offered at this location are so poorly maintained. I had to go back and arrange a replacement twice. The first vehicle I received I was informed only had a quarter tank of gas. I only had to return it with no less than a quarter tank so this wasn't a big deal. However, when I got in the car it WREAKED of marijuana & cigarettes. I went back into the office to have this noted so that I wasn't charged (I tried to be graceful and figured the smell would fade). After I realized the stench was penetrating my clothes I called the office to arrange a replacement in which they were more than happy to do. After retrieving the replacement vehicle and driving off, I immediately noticed mechanical issues (engine working extremely hard, brakes sticking). I had to deal with this for the day since I had to get to work. I took the car back the next morning and made staff aware of this issue. Again, they were happy to replace the vehicle. However, this 3rd vehicle only had a half tank of gas which I was not informed about. It's also important to note that not one single vehicle that I was given had been cleaned/detailed. And these vehicles are labeled as 2025 models which they most certainly are not. This has been a really frustrating process as I will need this vehicle for the next month. Ended up driving straight to Ontario Airport Hertz where staff were much kinder and actually gave me a proper car. Save yourself the stress and avoid this location at all costs. This is by far thee worst experience I have ever had attempting to rent a car. My car was being serviced, was dropped off to Hertz by the dealer only to be told by the young girl working that she called me and informed me that they did not have the car I reserved. The girl literally lied to my face and tried to tell me she spoke to me only to say, "well I thought I called and spoke to you". So now what is my option, an electric car with less than 50% charge, pay more for gas car that they have @ 4:30pm? Everybody seem to be leaving such horrible reviews for her car rental over there on Central. The two girls you were in there that helped me out get me into a rental day off were incredibly nice and I didn't have any issues whatsoever. I read some reviews saying that people were overcharged, but I've rented two cars in the last 3 1/2 weeks and I haven't been overcharged whatsoever and I've had really great service from them. I called and Monique answered and helped me with my questions since my husband is the one who usually gets the car rentals. She was kind and very helpful. When I got there I also talked to Tash who was kind and had great customer service also since I do events for a Chamber of Commerce I know that isn't always future with all businesses but thank goodness this business was awesome! Worse service ever. I will never rent a car from this place. I was discriminated and over charged. I reserve a rental from Expedia. Reserved an SUV to be pick up at 330pm . When i arrived to the hertz counter at 315 pm i was informed there was no SUV available that i had to upgrade to a more expensive car so i did on top of that i had to wait until 445pm to get my car because suv they had was not clean. I was supposed to return car back on 7/26/24 by 330pm. . There was a big accident on the 15fwy coming from Las Vegas. It was all over the news. . It took us 8 hours to get back. I call hertz Montclair to informed them of the situation the manager German said "I have never heard of anyone taking that long to come back from Las Vegas." German said as long as i made it by 515 hew would wait for me to rerun car but asked for me to call him back by 330pm to keep him update. i callled him back around 330pm to informed him my ETA showed 515. Herman said "that it's just an estimated time of arrival it's not for sure so he then told me he couldn't wait for me because it was against policy and that i had to bring rental back Saturday between 9-12 and pay and extra charge of $108. I called Hertz corporate spoke with an employee whom i informed her of the situation and to see if she could help me. Employee informed me there was no way she could do because my rental extension was blocked at the Montclair counter. She stated that my best option was to return rental on Saturday and also informed me i was going to pay the $108 extra. So i did. I took car back Saturday. German came out to inspect car when we went back i side he told me it was going to be and extra $168 more because he had to charged me for the entire weekend letting me know that total was going to be $391. When i asked why he had told me and extra $108 his response was "oh well it was an error "no remorse or care for what i was was going through. When i asked why the change he just said that's how it is. So you have the option to keep the car until until Monday for a total of $400. Because i was very upset and humiliated of how German had treated me in front of other customers Saturday. my husband went in and return car on Monday. German helped him I was waiting in our car to take my husband home. German informed my husband the total was going to be $400 and he was going to email final receipt. Which is usually the way i received my rental receipts before. I never received email with receipt and now i have a charge for $440 on My credit card. Which i dispute the amount with my Credit card company. I'm very upset and disappointed of how poorly and disrespectful i was treated by your Manager German. I called Tuesday to speak with German he refused to come to phone after had me on hold for 25 minutes. He Had his employee Monique informed me he had just gave me and my husband an estimate of how much the total was going to be. German's arrogance and lack of professionalism affects how people look at this companies. I will for sure never rent from Hertz in general. I had always rented from Fox Rental in Ontario and from now on i will continue renting from them . Pick up was good. I got a discount with my insurance company! Employee was extremely nice. But the problems outweighed the good once I drove the car off the lot. 1. Battery died. They said they charge additionally to service. But it's there car?? Why would they give me a car with a drained battery?!? 2. The day I was supposed to drop off, I called the 1800 number to confirm the time I needed to return the car so I could plan my day out. They said 5pm, but if I wanted to, I could bring the next day by 1049 (the time I picked up the car) because it was within the 24 hour window and I wouldn't have to pay extra. I drop off the car at 10am the next day and they charged me a late fee! 3. The final straw. The same employee I dealt with when picking up the car charges me $400 more than the originally quoted price. When I ask, she throws all these complex fees at me. My ride is in a hurry. So I just pay and say I'll deal with it later. I call the 1800 # and the rep on the phone says they will honor the originally quoted price and reverse the overpayment. But I'm even more confused about all the complex #s the original employee was throwing at me earlier. Was she trying to screw me over financially on purpose because of a prejudice against me? Wow! Hai! I have rented consistently through the year with Hertz and the quality of vehicles has been greater than other companies. The majority of locations in Orange county and inland empire have great staff who work with you to get you what you need. I feel this location has been the best and most accurate. I will be honest if you rent as much as I do errors will occur but this is understandable as staff is trying to do what's best for their location, the company and the customer. German is an outstanding manager as I have seen him under pressure handling multiple tasks between customers at the same time, he is professional and kind. The employees are dedicated to their jobs. I have been there just before opening and the cleaning crew is a all hands on deck team ready to tackle a day with a parking lot full of cars. It would be nice if customers would take it up on themselves to bring the vehicle back in a clean condition. I wouldn't be surprised if they moved this location into a larger location like the mall and added more fleet and employees. Keep up the good work y'all I'll be back soon! On location on a Saturday, I was denied a car based on my "bad driver's license" and was told to call (405) 384-8342 which doesn't open on the weekend which left me stranded with no car. Someone called me to confirm what date I left it & i let him know. I end up getting billed for the day they picked it up! Why did they even bother calling me?! Why did they let it sit for a week?? Would give a zero if I could. I rented a car off Expedia and then hertz.com for the managers special at this Montclair location. When I got there the front desk said they could not honor my rental because they didn't have any of the vehicles available, not even in their inventory as on hold to someone else. They then said I could instead rent a mini van for 161/day which was more than the total price I was confirmed to pay for the entire rental period. They didn't offer any other options. I called customer support and though the rental is on multiple sites they said they could not honor it or provide a free upgrade or even downgrade. As I go outside where the rental cars are at, I am looking at the exact rental that they said they don't have at all in their inventory. They still wouldn't give it to me or talk to me. They blatantly try to up sell and pretend as if your confirmation is more of a way to get you in the door to get more money from you rather than your actual rental confirmation. read more

My personal vehicle needed to have some body damage repaired and State Farm told me that I could possibly get a discount on a rental while my car was being fixed. From the moment I called, I received amazing customer service from Dara. When I picked up the rental car, Dara and Omatseyin were so accommodating and professional. What I also appreciated was when my personal vehicle was ready to be picked up at the body shop in Pomona, I was told that I could leave the rental car there and someone from Hertz would pick it up and take it back to their Montclair office for me. I rented a car for two days at the Montclair,CA office on Central Ave this week for about $36 per day. I am a Gold Member at Hertz. When I rented the car I told the official at the Hertz office that I might need the car for an additional day.They told me that it would not be a problem. On the afternoon of the second day, I called the Montclair office and talked to the manager, I told him that I I needed the car for one more day. He said that the extra day would cost me $100. I said, "why so much more". He said that my $36 agreement was for two days and it had expired. I told him that I had never heard of paying $100 per day for the cheapest car. He said do you want it or not? I said forget it. I called the Enterprise office down the street where I don't have any status and they said I could have a car for one day for $59. The important part is that they also told me that when you rent from them, a rental agreement is good for 30 days. So, you can call and add extra days at the original rate that you agreed to. So, two points, 1. I don't understand why I could not add one more day at the day rate I had already agreed to and 2.) In the absence of any unusual local usage activity, why would the rate go up 300%? They were trying to rip me off! read more

I had a reservation and called to verify (had to call numerous times due to being placed on hold for extended time on three separate occasions/days)... waited for over an hour to be picked up from collision center... called to ask if anyone was coming to get me... was told they were too busy and they would get to me when they can. I stated maybe I should change to Enterprise and was told "go ahead... and have a good day." Germane (not sure of spelling) and young lady in photo... completely rude. I took an Uber to this location and when I arrived they did not see my reservation in their "print-out" but the agent was able to pull it up on her computer. She then told me they might have a car for me and they might not. It took me 45 minutes to get to this location and I had my 3 kids with me. After waiting for almost 2 hours I asked her again if she thought I would be able to get a car and she said she didn't know. She wasn't outright rude but she didn't have the best customer service skills. I told her it didn't make sense that I was able to make a reservation but there were no cars available. Her response was I could make 20 reservations and the system wouldn't say no. WTF?!? The way this rental company is run is equivalent to a caveman writing on stone tablets. I only wrote this review so that hopefully Hertz will update their horrible rental system and so other people won't have to go through what I went through. I ended up leaving this location via Uber. One of the worst car rental places I have been too. Complete liars and unreliable. I reserved a intermediate car. And when I went to pick it up. They told me they only had an electric Chevy volt. I did not want an electric and made this clear to them. They only had larger vehicles and wanted to up charge me on these cars. So they told me I can take the Chevy and would call me later in the day to change vehicles. I called everyday and they said they would have a car and then 1 minute later call and say the car is gone. After 3 days I gave up because of being run around. Just terrible place and terrible people. read more
