Bad experience and terrible customer service. I received a text from AVIS, two hours before I was scheduled to pick up my rental, stating they ran out of vehicles; therefore, they had to cancel my reservation. Mind you, I had to provide my credit card information in order to make the reservation in the first place. AVIS then proceeded to charge my card with a "no cancel fee" after I cancelled my reservation. I have called their customer service line twice already, since early February, disputing this charge and they still have not refunded me. read more

I had a bad experience here once, when I returned a prepaid rental, there was a fee on a prepaid rental because for some reason the mileage allowance did not process correctly. I contacted corporate and they fixed the issue. The manager has been there for a while, and has been great to work with. read more

I have used the Avis in Plano at least fifteen years. The last several rentals were not good so I decided to use Avis McKinney. Overall it was a better experience. The car was clean and the pick up was easy. read more

Horrible customer service. They can't even reprint or email a receipt. I've called into the location, been told that I'm getting emailed my receipt while never receiving anything. I've walked in and been told they can't reprint a receipt but on the phone they were capable of emailing it; not that they did. Just a horrible experience due to incompetence. read more

My wife rented a car from there yesterday and was greeted with a rude staff member that told her that there were no cars and that it was her problem. They had a car. Then when she brought it back the staff member when it was returned was ruder demanding that she go fill up the car even though her company has a deal where she doesn't have to fill it. So far this is the 2nd bad experience I've had with this place. 1st time was just a bad rental experience... long story. This time we were purchasing a vehicle. It was supposed to be there Sunday, it wasnt. Even after we got all the confirmations and i called saturday to make sure. No one knew anything about it when we went in! They said we could wait because it may be on its way, it never showed up and today I had to play phone tag trying to figure out where it is. Guess what, we can't get the vehicle and we have to look for another one which won't be available for another 4 days. Keep in mind this is the 3rd vehicle we've tried to get... so it's been a long process. 1st one had hail damage that couldn't be fixed, the 2nd one was hit and had scratched all over one side. The 3rd one is the mess I'm dealing with now. Does avis do anything to make this right?! Of course not. They said it's not their fault and we have to wait. I honestly loved the way I was treated, yeah they could use a few more chairs. Now that I think about it I remember them telling me that there was more room in the other room where people can wait. I was taken care of as soon as they were done with their appointments and they made me feel like I was part of the team and knowing all the goodies for buying with them. Some people say it's dirty and all but what can you get from former rented cars. You get a good taken car of car that will be reliable. I was charged a 250.00 dollar deposit hold on my card when I paid for the rental on top of the 220 actual dollars that I paid for the car. I had to extend the rental a few days and when I paid the extension, they charged me 200 more dollars, and NEVER gave me my 250.00 back. It's been three weeks. On top of that. They charged me FOURTY DOLLARS for accidentally going on a toll road I had no idea was a toll road when I got lost. I was on the road for 5 minutes. And I got charged forty dollars two weeks after the fact. No one should ever use this company. They literally steal your money. read more

BEWARE!!! Dishonest employees!!!! This is the worst experience I've ever had with a rental car agency. I got a one day, one-way rental. I attempted to drop it off at 11:42 AM and I was told I would be charged over $100 because it was earlier than a 24-hr. rental. The "manager" said "Oh, don't worry give me your email address and I'll return it at 12:00p." 12:00p came and went without any confirmation. Over a week later I was charged an additional days rental. If you are renting a car, you are not allowed to park your personal vehicle on the property. No advance notice is given, even if you make the reservation well in advance. A phone call would be nice. Instead, they offer to take you to drop your car off at either the nearby courthouse or Target, and there is zero guarantee you won't get towed. Not happy about that. I called the local number provided by google to try and rent a car. I am wanting a specific model because we are doing the rentals as an extended test drive to see how it feels and if we want to buy it. After calling the LOCAL number, I got a recording that asked me a bunch of questions about where I wanted to get a car from. After narrowing down the location that I wanted, the machine transferred me to a person. I told the person I wanted a specific model of car and they said in order to get model specifics, I would need to call the local number. Well done Avis, I will not be renting from you! read more

Awful experience, I showed up two hours early to pickup my car, I was told at that point they had no cars and I would have to come back at the time of reservation. The manager told be there was nothing she could do, and come back later. The gentleman at the counter placed me in a car and I did not have to come back. The manager was extremely rude. When I returned the car a week later she claimed there was dog hair in my car and wanted to charge an $250 cleaning fee. I have short hair and she pointed at a couple of short hairs the length of mine. AMAZING!! There was one hair in the back maybe looked like a dog hair. She also claimed it smelled like dog in my car. I own a dog, THE DOG WAS NEVER IN THE CAR, did not go on vacation with us. In face we stayed in place that does not allow dogs. I rent about 20 cars a year with work and personal use. Never been treated like this in any rental place. Will avoid this McKinney location in the future. read more

I HIGHLY discourage Avis Car Sales McKinney to purchase a vehicle. Vehicles are dirty, and the location itself is not well-kept or inviting. However, these are things I can 100% look past for any well-run and integrity-focused business. While this unfortunately was not the case, what astonished me most about this location, was the incredibly rude, condescending, and manipulative management. Upon arrival into Avis McKinney's intimate office (for the second time, ready to purchase,) all three employees looked up to see me, yet did not greet me or say anything. Confused, I peered into the manager's office - completely trashed with fast food containers and crumpled papers - and asked to see the car of my interest. I was met with a sigh as he got up and pulled the car over. After reviewing the car, I came back in, letting him know I was interested but had a few concerns. After being in an accident, the car's bumper was visibly a different color, and there were some stains, worn leather, and scratches. As a young woman simply trying to advocate for myself, in our conversation the manager interrupted me, talked over me countless times, and discounted anything I had to say about the vehicle. I was told he "didn't care about selling cars" and that this location was not interested in the "fluff" of other dealerships. While his disinterest in his customers' satisfaction was off-putting, I was encouraged to think that I would not be met with the typical games of used car dealerships. Boy, was I wrong. I let him know I thought the price was fair, but asked for an incredibly reasonable small amount off the listed price to account for the inconsistencies. He told me he needed to "make a call" about this. After coming back inside, I was ignored and told he needed to "deal with another customer." I sat patiently waiting with a (much kinder) sales person, slowly growing displeased as the manager sat alone in his office. As soon as my boyfriend got up and left momentarily, he came over and slipped the sales person a piece of paper. I was told there "had been a mistake" and that the listing number had been "fat-fingered" by the EXACT amount higher that I was asking to discount. How convenient. (Mind you - in the moments prior, I had clarified the listing price no less than four times with the manager.) I was told I would, in fact, be getting the discount I requested by purchasing the vehicle at the LISTED price. So much for being a "dealer with no games" that had been preached at me prior. It was incredibly obvious that this was not an honest mistake, but instead a well-rehearsed manipulation tactic. This, among other lies that I was told, is simply one example of how I left feeling completely blown away by the sheer lack of professionalism, integrity, and honestly Avis McKinney has with their customers. I don't care how well a car is priced, treating clients with blatant disrespect is never okay. I will never return to this location, and will encourage anyone I know not to purchase from Avis Car Sales. read more

We rented a RAV-4 to drive the family to Colorado. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. They picked me up from my house and then drove me back after returning the car. And the price was right. Will definitely be using this location again in the future. read more

Horrible place to rent a car. We had an issue the first time we made a reservation and took over an hour to get the car. This time we pre-paid and they did not have any cars so we had to wait 2 hours and when they got the car they told us there system was not verifying the pre-pay. Since it was 12pm they were closing and told me I would need to call their customer service to request a refund and set up a new reservation at Plano location because they are closed. I am going to find every social media site to warn people about this place!!!! read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE service. Rented an SUV that was not cleaned at all. Drove home and the check engine light came on. Took it back and woman said I had to go to the airport if I wanted a replacement. I told her I needed a car and asked her to help, and she said it's not her problem. She said I should've planned ahead. Huh? I did. I booked a car ahead but she gave me a car with issues. She suggested that I take the car to a mechanic to inspect. I should take a car that's not mine to a mechanic??? When I said I'll just return the car, she said she still needs to charge me for gas as the tank was not full. Really??? I reserved a minivan for a road trip with two kids. The reservation was made way in advance. The day of pick up I arrived on time and was told they did not have any minivans...my immediate reaction was to loose my mind!!! However...the girl behind the counter helping me was AMAZING! I believe she was the manager and she and her sister worked there behind the counter. She quickly eased my mind and said she was going to make sure I had a vehicle that accommodated my needs. She walked me outside and gave me my choice of Yukon XL in either White or Black or a Nissan Armada. I was able to look inside, check out the amenities they offered then make my decision. She matched the price of the minivan which was way less than either of the two vehicle offered. I received unlimited mileage. I was explained all insurance options and toll tag options. Upon my trip return, I was greeted and ask how my trip went. I was asked if I liked the vehicle I had rented and I was my bill was actually less than what it was when i walked in by like $15.00, That NEVER happens. GREAT experience. wish I could so ZERO stars. These dirtbags told me as long as the car was returned same day there would be no additional charge and the time of the return doesn't matter as long as its same day.. Well that was a LIE they tried charging me an additional day. Issue number 2 I booked a MINIVAN months in advance and when I show up o sorry no minivan didn't even call me to let me know. that also happened to me the previous year and they tried giving me some crap SUV with no storage space. NEXT I received the vehicle with 3/4 of a tank of gas when I returned the vehicle I filled it up. The charged me 38 dollars for gas stating they need to put gas in the car But wait they only told me the gas was $11 the rest were FEES. EVEN the employees at this location complained how they over book cars. I mean i rented a minivan for a reason. Amazing crap companies like this stay in business. This is one of the worst experiences from a car rental business I have ever had. Upon entering, I never heard may I help you. I had prepaid for my rental but once they swiped my debit card, the customer service rep said my credit was declined. This has never happened and I rent cars frequently. Instead of trying to help, he said call this number and sent me out the door. I called Avis customer service and they referred me to Avis in Richardson where I was greeted with a smile and handed the keys to my car with NO problems. I reserved a car weeks in advance. Get ready to pick it up and receive a call that there are no cars!!! Judging from the reaction of the girl at the desk, this is common and I was just one of many calls that she expected to make that morning. What is the point of reserving a car, if they will not honor or plan for your reservation? At least offer me an alternative size vehicle --- nothing was offered. This was a major inconvenience as we had planned a trip weeks ago based on the car rental. I asked for a call back from the GM ... but its more than a week later and not a peep. No apologies, offers of compensation for my inconvenience... nothing. The service desk associate was curt, bordering on rude when we first came in. When she walked us put to the car, it was through the whole parking lot, stepping over hoses. We did the walk around and she walked away. When I turned the key in the ignition the tire pressure light was on. So I went back to the office to let her know and she looked just completely inconvenienced and said, "Well, we can air it up for you, otherwise it's gonna be a while, because he's cleaning." She was just completely unconcerned with customer service. I told her I didn't want to take a car that had a service light on because I didn't want to be charged if a tire blew out or went flat. She disappeared and apparently she was trying to air up the tire herself while some guy who was cleaning cars stood over her and watched her. They couldn't figure it out, so they finally decided to rent me a different car. I then proceeded to wait in the lobby for a half hour. To be fair, I did get a curt, "Sorry about that, I probably wouldn't have given you that one if I'd known." But it was completely insincere and spoke to how messed up their system must be if they can't even keep track of the maintenance of their vehicles, which is not really the fault of the customer service agent. I don't know if I even blame her for being so apathetic, since she clearly has absolutely no training or support. I got here about 9:15 for a car reservation at 9 and didn't leave until 9:58. Never. I have used this location 4 times previously and had great service. When I went in this past week to pick up a vacation rental I saw no familiar faces. I asked and was told there was a new franchise owner but I should see no difference in the great sevice I'd had before. While reviewing the car with the agent I noticed the car was not clean but had dirt spots (very noticeable on a white car). We had to make a stop to clean the side mirrors to make them usable. My husband returned the car and was told there would be a $250 charge because we had pets in the car. On the return trip we had to put luggage in the back set which is the only time it was used. My dogs don't travel with us and due to my allergies they are of a variety that doesn't shed anyway. They also said there was dirt on the floor mats. My husband brought the car back home vacuumed it and took it back. While waiting he heard an agent tell a couple they were going to be charged the pet fee as well. They objected because they don't even own pets. The agent didn't even reinspect the car when be brought it back again. My husband feels he was called a liar and feels very insulted. We won't be using this location again. read more

I have been renting from Avis for over 15 years and use their service at least once a month. I would recommend them to anyone. The Mckinney location at 3512 N. Central Expwy has wonderful service and a staff that truly cares. Mark and the rest of the staff go the EXTRA MILE to make sure your experience is a pleasant and stress-free one. I have rented 3 times from here before and have never had a problem, until now. I had no issue picking up the car, but when I went to return it and asked the guy how to pay for the 2 tolls I had, he said he was not sure and got Nck. Nick told me I would be charged $4 for each day that I had the car. I told him I was disappointed that I have never been told that. Nick started yelling at me and told me I had ruined his Monday. I also let him know that the DVD player was not working right. His response " WELL, WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO." Not in a nice way either. I have never been treated so poorly and disrespected as I was today by Nick at Avis in McKinney. They have lost my business and hopefully more. Nick was so unprofessional and acted like a little kid. The funny thing is he was yelling at me. I was not yelling at him, but I ruined his Monday. So as long as you have no questions or problems with the rental, then I guess you will be fine. This place doesn't even deserve a ZERO. I had a reservation for that past Saturday at noon. I'm an Avis "Preferred" customer so I booked on line and received three different confirmations, including an email sent to me Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning I wanted to go get my rental earlier, but decided to wait close until to noon, so I wouldn't cause a hassle by arriving early. I arrived at about 12:05. The door was locked, and big guy was standing inside the door playing with his phone, but wouldn't let me in. That's when I noticed the signed on the door said they close at noon. Finally the office staff came to the door, he let them out, and said to me, "We're closed". I said I have a rental for that location at Noon and then told him I have a confirmation in my hand. He said, that since I wasn't there before noon he cancelled my reservation-No phone call, or anything- just cancelled it! He didn't offer me any alternative, or anything. When I said I was going to complain he said, "Good!" The only good thing out of that visit, was when my ride left me at the rental place, for some reason I told them to stay there until I knew I had my rental. Otherwise, I would have had to call for another ride. I ended up finding a car at another agency, but I was set back several hours, which costed me an extra day. I've rented here several times and had always been given pretty good service, but I'll never go back again. THIS IS A BAD PLACE! read more
