Round Trip Flight from Denver (where I live) to Dallas (where my son lives)- $169.00 Food/Fun/Events/Toys for the whole week-$275.00 Rental Car for ONE DAY from Dallas To Belton, Texas from AVIS- $300.00 Dragging my son around while being on the phone with AVIS for 8 hours to resolve nothing and missed activities and events because I could no longer afford them and time I will never get back with him- INVALUABLE AND PRICELESS - NOT the good kind. Excuse my language, but WHAT the ACTUAL F***!?!??!?!?!? $300.00??????????????? Here's how it happened: Since I only needed the car for 1 day because I can borrow a family car for the rest of the week I decided to take the car one way from Dallas to Belton, Texas. I tried to reserve my rental car in advance but every single website only allows me to book rental cars to be returned to the same location. As I arrived to the rental car location at Dallas Love Airport there was a sign on every rental car company's desk that said "CARS AVAILABLE" so there wasn't exactly a "shortage" of cars. Not to mention when I actually got the car the entire lot was FULL of cars... but I digress. I asked the lady at Avis/Budget Rental Car (named Lachandra) to help me rent a car for the day. I explained my situation about how I was here taking my son on a vacation and that I only needed the car for 1 day. I asked if I could make it the cheapest car available and the cheapest rate available. She agreed and as I was about to check out she said, "your estimated charges for this car are $330.00/day plus $0.30/mile" My mouth dropped and my heart rate went through the roof. "Excuse me? Isn't an insurance company charged $25-$30/day??? Why am I being charged $330 plus $0.30" Her answer was because I was going 1 direction and that was the only rates allowed for that transaction. Scrambling, because in no way in hell did I expect to budget potentially $500.00 for a rental car, and it would ruin the whole trip, I proceeded to tell her I couldn't afford that and that I thought it was preposterous. She said well let me see if I can find you some "discounts". She went from Budget back to Avis searching for the "best plans and best rates" and finally came back after SEVEN more proposals at rates between $275.00/day - Finally $122.91/ day + $0.30/mile. Saying she couldn't go any lower because there were "no more discounts available" and this was the cheapest rate between Budget and Avis, and considering I had already been talking with her for over an HOUR, and considering I had 45 minutes to go pick up my son (30 miles away) before his mother took a flight out of town, then I reluctantly agreed although I was FURIOUS about it. I picked up my son and drove straight to Belton. By the time I got there my son was asleep and since I had the car for 24 hours I agreed to turn it in the next day. Next Day: Ps this gets better I arrive at the Avis Rental Car at 11:45am (15 minutes before my 24 hours was up). Took my son out of the car and we waited inside in a line 5 people long with only 1 person working the rental car desk. I waited in line for 1 hour (with my 3.5 year old son) to turn my car back in. The receipt I got is in this picture I posted. Gas-$30.00 Rental Car- 1 day -$61.00 Rental Car- 1 Hour (the hour I stood in line at Avis) - $45.76 275 miles driven x $0.30/mile- $82.50 (more than the cost of the car/day) Various "charges/fees" plus taxes- $80.12 (also more than the cost of the car/day) for a grand total of $299.38 I was trying to avoid paying out the A** for a rental car and I Still got stuck with a GIANT bill. If I had decided to keep the car for THE WEEK I would have paid the same amount. If I had decided to FLY from Dallas To Austin and drive with my family to Belton it would have cost less. Insurance companies get charged $25-$30 a day for a VERY NICE vehicle while I was charged $270.00 for a F***ing Nissan Versa Hatchback.... the cheapest car there. At this point, 4 days later, I have spent EIGHT HOURS of my vacation with my son on the phone with Avis trying to speak to a manager about this egregious and asinine charge for a 1 day rental car. I was HUNG UP on, Put on hold for 45 minutes, tossed around from Customer Service Provider to Customer Service Provider. I asked for the cheapest possible deal and I feel like I was INTENTIONALLY: 1)played for a fool, 2) misled 3) avoided and tossed around between customer service providers 4) treated like absolute Dog Sh** I will NEVER rent from Budget/Avis ever again. EVER! What a joke company PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make this go viral. Share with EVERYONE read more

Very rarely I spend the time to write reviews. Like most of you it takes extremely bad service to motivate me to jump online. Its frustrating and disheartening to be treated so poorly and bullied by corporations like these. Generally, I rent my vehicles from Hertz. They were sold out! This forced me to scramble and do business with Avis. Initially, I was happy that Avis had cars available. When I got to the counter I was happy to see they sold car chargers! That was the end of my pleasant experience. Once I spoke to the Avis employee it immediately became a battle over insurance and other add ons. I clearly stated I only needed the vehicle and that my corporate rate included basic coverage. She continued to "dance" of sorts around the topic to obtain my basic approval on insurance to justify adding on larger coverage's. Eventually I had to keep responding "I only need basic coverage- I don't want to pay anything extra". After 30 minutes the contract prints! She added additional coverage! I had to wait another 10 minutes for her to reprocess the rental agreement and take off the addons. What's sad is that she was a nice lady. I blame the culture of Avis and this particular management staff. I rent cars regularly and I understand that they are all pushed to sale insurance packages. This was clearly slamming premiums onto peoples rentals without approval. I know this happens to less aggressive people every single day. This particular branch must be taking advantage of people who just rather get out of the airport. Don't let them slam these additional add ons onto your rate... THE NIGHTMARE continues... I picked up the vehicle June 26th and returned it on the 28th. When I arrived back in LA I received a $600 charge on my card. I called customer care and was transferred to the local branch. They never answered their phone. After calling back to customer care and escalating my complaint eventually they were able to get in touch with someone at the branch. I explained the situation to (Jamella) and was told that they called me for additional information and because I did not answer they were not able to close my reservation. Very odd due to the fact that when I dropped off the car the associate told me everything was good to go. I was traveling on a plane it shouldn't be a surprise that they could not get a hold of me. What is there to talk about? The car had no damage and I filled up the gas tank. I asked for a manager when I was speaking to Jamella but she insisted on handling the situation. She determined that I was in fault and directed me to speak to Loss Prevention. At that point I asked for the manager directly. I escalated the call to the manager, Bradley . He explained that I should have waited for a receipt and despite dropping the keys off and being told I was "good to go" by the associate... I was in the wrong. (NOTHING to do with obtaining additional information) He went on to say the contract is closed and he could not reverse the $600 charge. He would have to email his adjustment department and request the credit. Who knows how long this will take but I suppose its better then nothing. Thanks Avis for the $600 charge and colossal waste of time. read more

Even thought this is not this location they are ALL owned by the same corporate division. These people just do not care! They will slide things in on you even if you tell them no and later refuse to do anything about it! With a reservation you would think that you would get in and out faster? WRONG!!! They deliberately take their time and add things to your reservation to up the price, and by the time you are ready to sign your contract, you are so aggravated that it took so long they RUSH through you initialing everything you declined, BUT BEWARE, they approved everything I declined and had me rush the initialing so they could later argue with me that I knew all about it! EVEN THE CORPORATE LEVEL could care less how you were treated and REFUSE to do anything to make things right. My wife had a reservation made for the convenience and we still stood in front of a representative for 45 minutes while she acted like she was stalling aimlessly and could see that we were getting impatient, but she seemed to not care! We paid $400 plus for a weeks rental and declined all insurance. The representative ask if we wanted the insurance and WE TOLD HER NO. She said "ok, NO PROBLEM" and managed to stall another 15 minutes and by this time my 10 year old mildly autistic son was ready to come completely unglued and FINALLY the representative threw the contract in front of us and said "here is your contract, just initial here, here and here and sign at the bottom and your ready to go." Well it doesn't stop there, we walk out to our car and it had cigarette ashes all over the floor, dash and steering column, there was some type of hair on the gear selector, sticky fluids ALL IN THE CUP HOLDER! IT WAS FILTHY! The Budget representative looked in the car and ask me "SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?!" I assume she thinks a FILTHY car is par! Long drawn out story shorter, we got another car, after being humiliated, insulted and was treated with such disrespect! We escalated our issues to Budget corporate offices and they REFUSED to reimburse us for the 200.00 worth of insurance. We verbally communicated to the representative that WE DECLINED or make things right with us at all. They didn't even take the time to hear all of our issues before coming to their conclusion. Such a horrible experience and they failed to provide the service that they claim to promise!!! read more

Oh, what a delightful three years it has been, being an esteemed patron of Avis! Their exceptional service has left me utterly speechless, and by that, I mean I'll never be renting with them again - EVER. It all started with the genius at the DTW airport (pickup) Avis rental, who generously provided me with their version of the truth about gas refill charges. But wait, there's more! At the drop-off airport, they must have thought it'd be a real treat to charge me for rental insurance, despite my clear and concise decision to opt-out. Bravo, Avis, bravo! And I can't forget to give a standing ovation to the Avis manager at the Westchester Country Airport (drop-off) for his enthusiastic performance in arguing with me for over 1.5 hours. Such dedication to customer satisfaction is truly inspiring! Just when I thought the show was over, they surprised me with a grand finale - charging a generous $309 to my credit card without my consent, while I was disputing the settlement amount over call with a service agent. Of course, I called their esteemed customer care service again, who assured me that the $309 would eventually find its way back to me. They even gave me a fancy Case ID: 57328656. I am still waiting for it like an owner looking for its lost puppy. Oh, how I cherish the memories of this wonderful escapade! Not only did Avis take my money, but they also graciously took away a couple of hours of quality family time during my trip back to Detroit from New York. Truly, they have a knack for making every moment count! So, dear friends, if you ever feel the urge to rent with Avis, be sure to turn on recording devices while you talk to them. And don't you dare miss out on the Gas Service Option, for it's the cherry on top of this unforgettable Avis experience! read more

Had plans to drive a friend from Cincinnati to Chicago where he would be flying from to go help Ukraine.  Rented car on April 20, 2022 returned it on April 21, 2022.  Wish I could give them less than 1 star.  I was quoted one price online when I made reservations at another Avis.  The next day that Avis said they had none available, so I went to the one on Rt 4.  They quoted me a higher price but lowered it when I told them what original quote was.  Then they charged me a security deposit.  So my $298 quote is now at $411.04.  Went out with service rep to see vehicle, it was dirty.  Food on floor, empty ice cream cup with dried ice cream, etc.  I asked service rep about that.  He replied "Don't worry, you won't be charged for that".  Dropped car off 24 hrs later, waited for my security deposit to go back on my Discover card.  Never got it.  Called, was told I had to wait 10 days for deposit to get credited back on my card.  Didn't happen. Sent an email and called 4 more times during the next two weeks only to get a message that they would call back. Another call to them I was put on hold for 20 minutes.  Then on May 5th Avis puts another $125 charge on my card.  On May 10th Avis put yet another $11.95 charge on my card (said it was a toll road charge but this is 26 days AFTER I dropped the car off) .  So my $298 rental from them is now $547.99!! At this point I'm thinking someone is using my card fraudulently so I cancel the card and am waiting on the new one.  Then I receive a letter from Avis saying they are keeping my security deposit and charging me the $125 for cleaning due to animal hair.  No animal was in that vehicle when I had it.  I don't even own an animal!!  I am thoroughly disgusted with this company and would walk before ever using them again. read more

Skip Avis. Seriously. I prepaid for a two-night rental at ORD. When Delta cancelled my flight, I called Avis to shorten my rental to one night. Instead, the representative changed my pickup location from ORD to MDW without my permission. I arrived at ORD and the women at the Avis counter simply told me: "No cars." I then spent nearly an hour going from rental counter to rental counter trying to find ANY car. Everyone was sold out. Finally, I approached the Budget counter, where Marcus--wearing his red Avis sweater--was sitting. He initially told me there were no cars either. I explained what Avis had done and that I had an important interview in four hours, a hotel 45 minutes away, and desperately needed transportation. Marcus asked for my Avis confirmation number. Then he said, "Wait here." He came back, took my driver's license and credit card, and rented me a car. Marcus SAVED THE DAY. He deserves five stars. But that raises a pretty serious question: Why was I categorically told upstairs that Avis had no cars, yet Marcus was able to find one after simply looking into my reservation? Avis created this entire mess by moving my prepaid reservation to another airport without my authorization. Then I was sent away from the ORD counter believing there was absolutely nothing they could do for me. And yes, the replacement rental was extremely expensive. Avis later offered me one free rental day as compensation. One day. Marcus demonstrated what customer service looks like. Avis did not. Marcus: Avis: ZERO STARS. If Google allowed me to leave zero, I would. read more

Very Disappointing Experience My experience with Avis was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I was charged $744.20 for reasons that I believe were completely unjustified. When I contacted Avis to ask about these charges, I was told they were for fuel, mileage, and late return fees. However, I returned the vehicle with a full tank of gas, my rental agreement included unlimited mileage, and I returned the vehicle on time. Despite explaining these facts and requesting a review of the charges, I did not receive a satisfactory response. Instead, I experienced poor customer service, a lack of transparency, and very little effort to resolve the issue fairly. As a customer, I expected honesty, professionalism, and respect. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. Being charged hundreds of dollars for fees that I do not believe were valid has left me feeling extremely disappointed and frustrated. I am still seeking a refund of these charges and hope Avis will take responsibility and correct this situation. Until then, I cannot recommend this company based on my experience, and I will not rent from Avis again. read more

Returned a car at this location. Within 15 MINUTES I called to tell them I had left my $300 sunglasses in the car. No one calls me back. I call 24hra later and speak to Vanessa who says she will call me back after looking into it. A week later and no call. Just spoke to Vanessa (I called), and she hadn't spoken to the man (thief) I returned the car to "because I don't work the same shift he does...". Wtf?!?! Really Avis?? No more of my business and I rent cars at this airport 3 time a month. Avis employees are thieves. read more

My wife and I came to this place three weeks. I was shocked by the bad service that we received. The employees were very unfriendly. Anyway, on our way out, we asked an employee in the parking lot the directions for Chicago. She brushed us off in a very rude way with an angry attitude. She didn't have a name badge but she was kind of short, heavy and Hispanic looking. She looked like she hated her job. The overall experience was really bad. I was charged for an extra day. When I called in, they "investigated" and said the charge was correct. It's impossible that I checked the vehicle at 02:50AM when my flight was at 01:45PM the day before. Avis did not investigated because I have confirmation email when I performed the self checkin through the Avis App nor did you check the security cameras to confirm that I returned the vehicle. Because of this unprofessional and untrustworthy behavior, I will no longer be using Avis. read more

An absolute disaster. Employee Michelle will LIE to you and force you to purchase both the loss damage waiver and supplemental liability insurance coverage. She will not let you take the vehicle with your own insurance even though their own contract states it's optional. Budget does not believe in customer service.
