This was the simplest Avis that I've ever used. Everything was smooth and quick. They even offered a 4 wheel drive SUV instead of mini-van when they heard I was driving to Tahoe. I recommend this location. A little odd/confusing to drive around to the back of the hotel, but it was just as the Yelp picture showed. read more

Excellent customer service I was in and out with a rental in no time. Unlike the airport location, this Avis is practically empty, with no line, just you and the Avis employee. The only downside is that the cars they have aren't the newest, so if you're interested in something more luxurious, I would probably avoid this Avis. read more

Avis was a mess and confirmed a reservation at this place for a car that doesn't exist. They are also running it with a single dude who is doing everything from cleaning to processing to working with an old printer from 1983. But this one man army Kyle is an absolute hero. Managed to find me a car even though there were none in the system. Did a vacuum and clean quickly even though the previous renter was an absolute slob in the car. Ridiculously courteous and polite and understanding under fire from multiple customers without cars because Avis's systems screwed up. Avis is whatever. Kyle is the man. read more

As a resident of Berkeley who often visits family in San Jose, I'm always renting cars, zips, and riding Lyfts or other modes of transportation back and forth. I met with Akash to secure a budget friendly car to go back home. He was very friendly and told me he would upgrade me. I was so grateful, it had been a long and tiring trip helping with elder and childcare. I walked out and saw an SUV with the doors open, so I thought that was vehicle he was offering but it ended up being midsized sedan (still a WIN). As I was adjusting the mirrors getting ready to leave, Akash came running out of the office to offer me another upgrade, A JEEP! This spot is located on the back of an hotel, leveraging their parking space. I'm in a sporadic need of a car. As in, it's cheaper for me to rent one when I need it rather than buying one. But I'm also an Avis preferred member through my company. I've been getting cars a few times at this location, always helped by Akash, always smiling and actually greeting me. Always available and friendly, I'm enjoying my experience with their representative. So far, the best location I've had the chance to deal with. Cars usually have low mileage, and get cleaned right before grabbing them. Gas always full (easier for trips and returns). It happened that I was slightly late (by a couple/dozen of minutes) and yet, no overcharge. 10/10 would recommend. Make sure to check their hours, and there's no return after hours. This place was awesome!! The staff was super friendly and accommodating and you can't beat their rates!!! We decided to take the kids up to the snow for the weekend but our car has seen better days . We told them our plans and they put us in a 4Runner that held all our luggage and snow gear with lots of room to spare, awesome gas mileage and had the option of four-wheel-drive which saved the trip. I have rented from this location now three times in a row each time I have been thoroughly satisfied the cars are clean, always newer. the most recent car I rented was a white Volkswagen Passat that had a couple thousand miles on it. the guy behind the counter I'm sorry I can't remember his name I believe its Akash. He is so helpful and engaging. Not like airport agents who are basically robots..he's always willing to extend you or any courtesy that you need. Always available at the last minute and the prices are awesome. Way better than going to the airport so if you're thinking about renting a car from Avis or budget (they have another location out on Stevens Creek) both are awesome. I've been to both multiple times and at this point I'm done renting at the airport, too much of a hassle. It's the easiest and the quickest. You get the car's you want and fast. Akash gets you in and out. The one thing I judge a business on is the customer service and how the interaction is between myself and agent. Especially now with all the stressful things that we're going through with the Covid all the limitations and the distancing and everything. Akash is always patient and understanding. I've always had so much trouble going to the airport having the situation take too long or just anything that I don't want to deal with but here I don't have that problem in fact when I called the other day to extend my rental because I hadn't been feeling well I didn't even realize he had heard me say that but the first thing he asked when I walked in yesterday to return my car was how was my health and that resonated with me. People are so busy these days to check on one another. That's the type of thing I appreciate. Which is why I will continue to rent my cars from Avis over on North First Street. I absolutely love this place! Honestly, I cant think of another place to get a rental. Always good prices & great service. The gentleman at the desk (who I should remember his name by now) knows me ny now, and he is SO awwesome. honestly, he just knows me as soon as I walk in, has my car ready to go and just very friensdly. I must have rented cars here at least 8 times this year. Or more, but I really like this place and the prices always meet the budget. If I could give them a 10 I would. I called this location at the very last minute due to the worst customer service I had experienced with Fox Rental @ the SJC airport. Akash answered the phone bright and early on a Monday and was so helpful with his information and patience with my issues. He reassured me that I'd be just fine with selections and he'd assist me when I come in on the very next day. Came in on a Tuesday around 1pm and he had my car ready that was clean, gassed up and ready to go. I was in and out of there with no delays. He got me & my family on the road quickly. There was no hidden fee's. He explained everything to the T. I returned my car when I was supposed to and just like my checkout, my check in process was just as smooth. Akash gives exceptional customer service. I will use this location again forsure.
