It sounds like after COVID they had a lot of trouble getting up and running because of a lack of trucks especially - funny enough this is exactly what most people complain about! I'll definitely be back because new management under Andy is great. Most of this stuff comes down to who runs the place and Andy does great. I'm all for supporting local business owners and it's clear Andy's been hard at work trying to fix the reputation here :) I've only ever had trouble renting from Budget (or Avis?) when I try to do something last minute. My recommendation would be to try and book in advance as much as possible - and to be flexible if you're going to book last minute!

I was told all I needed to do was come in, show my driver's license, and put down the $100 deposit. In my experience, renting a car usually takes anywhere from 20 to 30 plus minutes to get through the paperwork and everything else. That may be different when it's an insurance claim rental, but either way, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly everything went. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately by Jessica, who I believe is fairly new but is doing an excellent job. She was genuinely sympathetic about what had happened, quickly gathered the information she needed, grabbed a handful of keys, and walked me out to look at the available vehicles. Considering the kind of day I was having, that made a huge difference. I was literally in and out in about 15 minutes, and I really appreciated how easy and stress-free Jessica made the process. I usually like to wait until the entire service is complete before leaving a review, which in this case would mean returning the rental car. If anything changes, I'll definitely update this review. But for now, I'm very happy with my experience and especially grateful for Jessica's help!

I had to carve out an hour on Saturday to get it fixed. Later that same day, the same tire went flat again. There was no nail or visible cause, but it required another trip and another hour of my time. For someone with a flexible schedule, two hours may not seem like a lot. But for me, carving out that much time was difficult and set me back quite a bit. I wish the vehicles were inspected more thoroughly before being put back into the fleet. This could have easily turned into a dangerous situation if it had happened while driving at higher speeds.

Dropped by Avis at Eastridge Mall in San Jose for a quick roadtrip rental--grabbed a SUV for a day trip. Super efficient: In and out in under 15 minutes if booked online, no upselling nonsense, and the agent even walked me to the garage, which is just outside from Entrance D of the mall. Generally, this mall location has rates cheaper than SJC. Returns are also pick-any-available-spot in the garage, way less stressful than SJC shuttle lines, elevators, or terminal traffic chaos. However, pickup times and return times are not 24/7 and subjected to store hours (no key drop off boxes either). There's a large fleet to choose from. Baby carseat is a cheap toddler seat without the appropriate attachments, so I recommend to use your own. Beware that the fuel tank is not always full but take a photo before you leave and confirm fuel status with the clerk. Pro tip: Scout discount codes via your employer's perks or Costco membership--they'll likely ask for proof (ID or card) to confirm.

I just returned a Ford bronco to them that I used to drive to SoCal and experience was just five stars all the way. The gentleman with the long braids he's amazing the taller woman that loves to play basketball and coach basketball. I forget her name, she's amazing. I was to drop off my car at Caliber, who would then contact Enterprise to pick me up and take me to their location to pick up a rental car. Unfortunately, Enterprise never picked up the call so Caliber had their driver drop me off at Enterprise. There was a line of people waiting to pick up a car. By the time it was my turn, the car size that I was supposed to get were all out. Instead I was given an SUV, and was given a discount and charged the original price of the car I was supposed to receive. Overall time took 30 minutes. When I returned the car, the process was faster and the person who helped me was professional and tried to make my experience a good one. I also received a ride to Caliber Collisions to pick up my car. Overall time took 20 minutes.
