Terrible. Always understaffed with huge lines. Even when all the other company counters are open. It seems like it's always this way when I'm here, which is usually once or twice a month. read more

Avis - Absolutely awful. Always understaffed. All the other company counters are empty! - Car Rental Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Worst car rental I have ever experienced! Have been in line for one hour & only half way to the counter. My wait in the Avis line is longer than my flight. There are 50+ people in line & 2 Avis clerks. Never have I seen such horrible service at any rental counter. This is our 2nd bad experience with them this week. The first was an overcharge for a 3rd day. I Will never, and I do mean never use or recommend Avis to anyone. (Especially Logan airport) read more

Avis - Worst experience ever! - Car Rental Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I arrived at the airport around 7:30p. It was the day after snow storm Marcus in 2015. I tried to get an SUV but they said all they had left were Mercedes SUVs. Normally would've cost $100 more per day, but they were going to charge me an additional $300 per day. Manager would never come out to talk to me. The Ford Fusion I got had issues. The passenger side window wouldn't work. The car pulled to the right very bad. And the driver's side front tire had s bubble in it. I posted a picture. read more

We have always used HERTZ, with great results, but tried switching to AVIS. Twice at Boston Logan airport we have been given a car which was had less than half a tank of gas. We brought it to the attention of the gate attendant who marked it down and said just to return the car with as much gas as it had in it. We did this and BOTH times we were billed to fill the tank. Lousy service and poor management! You then have to spend time trying to get a refund. So, AVIS we tried and we'll go back to HERTZ. read more

Flight late so not on Preferred board. Short wait, get assigned space, go to car. Car is from Louisiana and has no Easy Pass. Since Mass is all digital, this is a problem as there's a toll just to leave the airport via tunnel. Will tries to tell me it will be okay since Mass reads plate, etc. Uhhh no. It'll read the plate alright and they'll charge me way more for the tolls, so I say get me another car. He does... now I don't fit in this tiny Mitsubishi. Get me another... this one is now huge Chevy SUV... Okay, thanks Will, good guy to keep helping. Exit guy very nice too. Return experience seems okay. Did you get gas, yes I did... see receipt. Guy says okay gives me receiptbwe head inside. Killing time I notice I got charged for full service anyway. What the @$#!. Now I have call Avis, get charge off. Guy on phone nice (because I am Preferred?) and apologizes and just asks where I got gas. I tell him name plus exact amount. We'll see if credit happens. read more

Returning the car I rented from Government Centre location was quick and simple. 5 minute and I am on my way to the waiting shuttle that drop me off at Terminal B. Definitely will drop off rental cars in this airport location again next time when I am in town! read more

took half an hour to even get to a desk. car was ok. forgot our bubble seat in car and they never even bothered to even TRY to return it.

Charged a fuel service fee of $139 when the car was filled with gas down the road 15 minutes prior to the noted drop off time. Maintained the gas receipt as proof as well. An absolute bunch of incompetent criminals and will be filing a formal complaint as well as a complaint with the BBB if my money is not refunded. read more

This is a generous review for a company and people that do not care!!! Avis Preferred means that they "prefer" you wait and be miserable!!!

Picked up a Buick LaCrosse for just under a week at a reasonable rate. Was offered another option, but declined the mini-suv. Easy renting, no worries with the car and fast check-in. Will be checking Avis in the future when I need a rental car. read more

Avis had the rudest woman named Yuri working at the preferred counter. I was still talking and she starts yelling "Next!" I made a reservation to pick up a car at 4 pm in the airport pick up location. The number of customer service representatives were insufficient to meet the demand and the average wait time to process a rental was over an hour and a half (which was my approximate wait time). No concessions were made with respect to this wait time. The vehicle I was rented was not as clean as previous rentals and generally, I was disappointed with my experience. In addition, the company is not transparent about the hold charges that are placed on your card at the time you make a reservation. It's easy enough to include a disclaimer about these holds and I don't think Avis is unique in not providing this information in the first instance but I still think this would be helpful information for the consumer to know. Additionally, when I inquired about this hold charge (100% of the reservation price for a total hold of double what I initially anticipated charging), I was told it was for security purposes but 2x your reservation price is likely not sufficient to cover the total cost of the vehicle. Why not just have a hold of thousands of dollars? It's arbitrary. read more

I consistently have the worst customer experiences here. Absolute disregard for customers, rude staff, defensive when they make mistakes and routinely have try to force you into cars you did not rent simply because they planned incorrectly. Because of this location alone I am telling everyone in my network that Avis is not worth the time and money. Today was a new low - they unlocked their return area 45 minutes after their business hours are supposed to open and then acted extremely rude and defensive when I mentioned how long I had been waiting. read more

Rented a car from Avis Boston Airport for 3 days, returned the car full of Gas with no damage. When I got my credit card statement Avis Added $18.00 for the rental from the bill, when I called in Avis said they automatically charge $15 plus tax fuel charge when you drive under 75 miles unless you call in and provide a receipt. Which I did and got the charge reversed but who ever heard of such a dishonest company to charge you after your transaction is compleat and force you to call in and provide proof the tank is full, the attendant acknowledged it was full, but this is an automatic charge by Avis Corporate. What crooks! read more

This is the worst place to rent a car!! Please stay away from Avis Boston Logan Int'l Airport!! Take forever wait over 2hrs for a car!!

Beware the in-vehicle transponder scam! If you use it just once-and you have to in order to return the car to the airport-you get charged for the $2 toll AND a $3.95 per day convenience fee for every day of the rental even if you avoided tollways to save money. They make $20 extra from every sucker who uses Avis. DON'T BE A SUCKER! read more

I have been waiting for almost 2 hours for my rental car that I prepaid for. There are no kiosks and a severe shortage of employees actually assisting customers. Almost 400 people waiting for rentals. I have already missed my business meeting and am now missing an event I spent almost $200 on tickets for. I expect reimbursement from your company for this horrible oversight, lack of customer service and absolutely appalling lack of appreciation or care for your customers. I work with numerous travel agencies and will be submitting this complaint to the BBB as well as posting numerous reviews of this incident on social media and every possible site concerning rental cars. Absolutely WRONG! 14 customers waiting in line with 2 agents working. You know how many reservations you have! We have been standing here for almost 45 minutes. I thought (like other airports) being a wizard member would mean something? Ridiculous!!! read more

Lines of people waiting for agents at Logan Airport are inexplicably inefficient. There were agents who obviously did not care about moving customers and taking care of them. I personally witnessed multiple agents who took 7 minutes after arriving at their desk to apply lipstick, check themselves in the mirror, adjust the computer screen, go away to the back office several times, chat up their colleagues laughing before actually calling a customer to their stand. I saw cameras above the counters so it should be all on video surveillance. I also witnessed agents with a line full of customers decide to walk away from the counter and just stroll up and down the halls chatting on the phone before returning to the counter. Another agent came to the desk, decided to clean the counter space multiple times over the next 10 minutes before actually calling a customer over. Agents also took an average of 4 minutes after finishing one customer transaction to walk around chatting with their colleagues before returning to the desk to help the next customer. It was truly an infuriating scene to witness. Customers in front and behind me were calling AVIS to complain, check to ensure cars were available, and others were trying to sign up for their premium level service to bypass the lines it was so horrible. I will never rent from this location again. There is too much competition in the same rental car facility to tolerate this laziness and lack of desire to help customers. Then upon returning the car, the attendants packed the cars in line so tight we could not open the back doors to unload. When I attempted to ask the agent to just reverse the car behind me a few inches, he did not even listen to the concern and kept shouting from down the lanes that "you're fine to go". INEXPLICABLY terrible customer service that makes it clear there is no supervision or accountability at this location. read more

I avoided Avis for a decade especially at Logan, but I had to rent here because National was out of cars. Pick up alright only problem was bugs on the grill even after a car wash, but drop off was a mess with confusing return signs and two return attendances chatting away and not directing returning traffic. I had to drive up them and ask them where to go which I have never had to do that before. I had a minute interaction with one attendant where 3 of 4 questions involved car housekeeping so it focus on her job and nothing about my rental experience or car performance. Just an awful rental experience as expected. read more

An otherwise normal Sunday evening at the Logan Rental Car Center EXCEPT for Avis. Every other rental car company had at most 2 people in line. Avis had a line that made me want to throw up. I had prepaid for my Avis car, so I had to wait it out (NEVER again). (There must have been 75 people in line. Maybe more). I waited for 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the agent. There were only 4 people working out of a total of 12 work stations. Several times, agents would walk away to the back-of-house for 15 minute stretches. Mind boggling. It was also common to see 2 agents stand together and work on the same reservation, chit-chatting with a customer for minutes on end. It was beyond absurd. Zero sense of urgency by the staff to move the line along. Of course Avis knew how many reservations were on the books for that night, but didn't bother staffing agents to handle the crowd. And the line never got shorter! I felt so bad for the people at the very back when I finally got to the counter. (A guy behind me told me he saw the same type of line at the Avis desk on a Monday morning a few weeks ago). Once I FINALLY had my paperwork, the car was not in the correct stall. I chased down a guy in the garage to help me. He couldn't find it either, so he put me in a second car. THAT car wouldn't start. I had to chase him down again. At this point, it was beyond absurd. I was also ready to ask for a horse and saddle at this point just to get out of that garage. NEVER RENT WITH AVIS AT BOSTON LOGAN. You will thank me for it. read more

STAY AWAY IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO CHECK REVIEWS FIRST!!!! This is the worst rental location I have ever been to. The customers wait at least an hour while watching the lazy employees carry on seemingly pointless conversations. When you finally get to the counter they give you an infinitely cheaper car then you paid for (no discount) all while listening to some sloppy up-sale pitch. I wish I would have read the reviews before I decided to use Avis. The reservation went mostly to plan except that I had a damage waiver added to my rental at $31 a day that I did not ask for. This fee also wasn't explained at the time we made the contract, so I signed off on the mistake that was made and did not find out until we returned and we were hit with a extra $300 fee. The gas tank was also said to be full, but it was on half. We called and resolved this with customer service. We were told to return it on half a tank and we would be good, but we were charged $66 for fuel on return. We dealt with that immediately and had the fuel charge removed. I then called customer service regarding the damage waiver that was added when not requested and they said they could only refund 15% and then 30%. Now I have to dispute the charge with my credit card because they charged me $154 extra that I did not ask for. Avoid this place if you can. As you can see, their business practices suck, read more

I rented a Ford Fusion on December 23rd 2017 from the Avis at Logan airport in Boston when travelling with my daughter, when I started the car the low pressure sensor light came on, so I tell an Avis employee that the pressure was low, so he drove us to their "shop" down the parking lot and put air in all 4 tires, we then left and drove for about 30min and stayed in a hotel. We drive to Canada but the low pressure sensor light comes on again so I add air again. It turns out the car has 35K miles, I looked at the tires a little closer when we got to Canada and the thread was really low probably around 2/32 to 5/32 depending on the tire, one of the tires has a bulge on the side of it. I called Avis on Dec 24th and they said I had to drive back to the US to get a another vehicle, since it was Christmas eve I decided to wait until the 26th and call again, which I did then they said to have it fixed by a tire pay for it myself and they would reimburse me, I did not want to deal with that during my vacation. I went to a local mechanic I knew and he told me the tires would probably make it to Boston but needed to be changed. We made it back to Boston with a stop to put more air in one of the tires. I will check tires next time I rent, and will avoid this Avis location, not sure who does the inspection there. have been renting cars for 20+ years never had this issue. read more

I set a reservation online for a vehicle via the Avis website and prepaided. Hours later, I arrived at the counter to pick up my vehicle and was told I need to put a credit card on file or cancel my reservation. This requirement was not stated on the website, nor is it in the "Rate Terms & Conditions" list with my reservation. I called customer service and they apologized and stated this location (Avis Boston Logan Airport) tends to set their own policies. This is very unprofessional. Had Avis informed me prior, I would have brought a credit card with me to register. Sidenote: Avis is not a franchise. For a location to have the ability to randomly set policies and not inform the customer before prepayment is a horrible business model. Avis - extra long line - Car Rental Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Poorly staffed, waited an hour to pick up car. Plenty of other car rental services at Logan with better service.

The worst experience I've ever had at a rental car place. Even though I had an Avis "Preferred" reservation, I had to wait in a long line to get my car since they had overbooked their cars. It was chaos. Many other "Preferred" customers were having the same experience. Then as we approached our car some other guy took it because an Avis employee gave it to another customer who didn't like the car he was assigned. We then waited in the line again and asked to speak with the manager. Some guy finally showed up and said he was "one of the managers". When asked why our car wasn't simply assigned to us in advance, he gave us a long convoluted explanation about delayed flights that made no sense whatsoever. Our flight was on time. Never use Avis in Boston!!! read more

We paid in advance to ensure we had a car large enough to accommodate our family, plus luggage.
