Finally an excellent experience at Budget Car Rental in Boston. This airport has won the longest wait for a car but this time it had a twist. After waiting for an hour, someone from the back came out to help the agents. Karim told me to go to the end of the counter. I was almost afraid that I would not be served and have to get back in line. Once I saw him at the computer, I relaxed. Karim have me a Honda Accord, which was perfect for driving to NH. Upon returning, Karim just happened to be there as I drove up. Karim helped me when time was tight for me to get my flight. I was so grateful for the excellent service. Maybe Boston Logan Budget needs to have someone like this out front more often. There has to be a better way. It is demoralizing to take a 3 hour flight and have to wait an hour for a car rental. I take responsibility for not downloading FastPass. I only had 5% on my phone and wanted to make sure I had my reservation information. read more

Budget is the worst car rental agency. They line at Logan was long, maybe 6 people ahead (50 minutes). I rented a car Toyota Camery, they said at the desk, it was full tank. I got in a car and it was 3/4. The car was fine. I needed to extend my trip, so I asked to keep the same car and they said I will be able to. I drove again to Logan to deal with formalities and they said the car is sold and I can't take it out. Then they gave me SUV, without spare tire and said they didn't have any hybrid cars. They were looking for the spare tire and someone returned antother hybrid SUV, which I ended up taking. The car was dirty and filfy! I couldn't see through windows. The car was consuming gas more than two Toyotas combined. Also in a crutial moment, the car locked me out. It was like a horror movie. I was getting my elderly mom with dementia and her sister out to a doctor, they were standing outside in a freezing cold while I was trying to open the car doors and couldn't. I called my husband in CA to get me Uber. The battery had to be dead. So my cousin came in to resue.... Later, I tried to extend the car as I was dropping it off in NYC. THey billed me $89.00!!! for 29.99 car. I called customer service and she said I didn't report any of it, she insinuated that I was making this up becasue I didn't call them to report right away.... Really, I had a week from hell dealing with dementia, doctors and other terrible things that go along with this ??? it's unbelievable! I told the rep when I was extending extra day, but he didn't bother to write it down. I told the guy at the return station NYC and he said to call Customer Service. I asked him (his name was ACE) to note my account about. Neither guy made any notes...I happened to go back to Boston from NYC again and this time I rented with SIXT. As with others I would give this place zero stars. Only positive thing I have to say was an agent was very helpful when we got locked out of the rented Tesla 300 miles from Boston. Otherwise: Reserved a Prius/hybrid category, but was offered a Ford Explorer SUV instead and said no small cars available. Ended up paying 40 more a day to go with a Tesla. Tesla was filthy, couldn't see through front windshield and car overall hadn't been cleaned in a while. As soon as driving out of airport, Tire inflation pressure warning light came on. All four tires were more than 8 pounds under recommended Tesla tire pressures. Returned car at agreed upon time to Airport, but car was never checked in and received a notice today that I hadn't returned car for three days. Had to call to try to get this listed as returned. Absolutely terrible. 1) 2.5 hour wait to pick up our car. We arrived after our scheduled pickup time by 20 minutes even, and had booked the car several weeks in advance. 2) Care given to us had registration expired four months ago!!! 3) Car given to us had check engine light on throughout... we were told to "take a picture" and go on our way... 4) Car display was blank for first several days, randomly started working half way through trip at least : / We would have walked away if we weren't so tired after a long flight with two kids. We arrived here around 11:45 a.m. on a Sunday. From the airport terminal, you take a public shuttle (blue) bus to the collective rental car facility. They have a huge counter divided amongst the multiple companies which rent cars. However, for whatever reason, they had divided this into just 2 lines. One was for about 5 - 6 companies at one end, and the other was similar for maybe 4 other companies at the other end. I'd guess that there were at least 100 people in line when we arrived (some solo, some in small groups). It took me an hour to make it through the line and obtain my car. My issue with this is that all these companies take online reservations. I do not know what % of people in that line had reservations, but my guess would be that most of them did. That being the case, the companies know that they will have AT LEAST some number of people showing up (and with walk-ups, possibly a few more). Would it not make sense to staff for that level of customers, then? They seemed to have between 4 - 6 people staffing the counter where I was at any given time during the hour I was there. And there were at least that many empty stations. I'd think that staffing to the level of 10 - 12 agents would be warranted given the customer volume. While in line, one couple just behind me experimented with registering online for Fast Break (or whatever the program is termed) where you can just go directly out and get your car. They only managed this when we were about 5 people from the head of the queue, so I didn't bother trying it at that point. However, if I ever return to Boston and rent a car, I will definitely investigate that option for whatever company I'm renting from. It had been a LONG time since I'd waited an hour for a rental car (in fact, that experience motivated me to initially join Yelp to leave a bad review, IIRC). read more

Rented car in West Palm Beach, FL. The counter person kept trying to upsell us and tricked us into "turning on" etolls - making it sound like you would only pay if you used them. The car was dirty and had No back wiper on the car at all so we had to hand clean it. We contacted customer service about these issues and they were ZERO help. Poor service. Took an Uber to correct address and there was no sign where the Budget location was. It turns out that it was on the others side of the building through some glass doors that the only access was through revolving doors. Try getting 4 pieces of luggage through revolving doors!! The next step was going back through the revolving doors and getting into an elevator on the third floor to find out that the car that they had given us didn't work!! We had to go back upstairs through the revolving door again so that they could exchange the car. After talking to 6 different agents, they finally said they would accept the certificates and said they applied it to my reservation. My flight from Indy to Boston was a little less than 2 hours, getting bags and shuttle TO the rental car, maybe another 30 minutes. THEN I WAS WAITING AT THE BUDGET/AVIS LINE 2.5 HOURS TO GET MY CAR! INEXCUSEABLE. All the other rental dealers had minimal lines of maybe 5 persons at worst. When we finally got through, we had to wait for someone to return a car, because they were out of them. For us, it wasn't a long wait because of the car we rented, others weren't so lucky. In case you were thinking of renting from Budget rental out of Boston Logan airport, consider my experience before you do: Do not rent here. Bunch of scam artists. Let me give you detailed information of my entire experience. My wife, mother, 2 year old kid, and I flew into Boston from Chicago for a week trip in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. I reserved a minivan to make it easy. I was also part of Budget's fastbreak, which allows me to skip the desk...at least it should have. We arrive and I get a text saying my car is ready and to go to zone 4 and pick out a van, scan the plate, and I would be good to go.... We find the only van in zone 4 and I scan plate, "error occurred unable to verify car.". I tried 5 separate times before giving up. I then had my wife and daughter (mother wasn't in Boston yet) wait in a busy parking garage with 6 bags and a child seat while I went to the desk. I waited in line and finally was helped and wasn't apologized to after explaining I was frustrated, because what's the point of skipping the desk when it wouldn't let me. She then tells me my van is ready (this took 5 mins) and said it's in spot c10, which was right outside the desk area. I go to get my wife, daughter, and luggage and trek back the way we initially came in. In c10 was suppose to be a white Chrysler Pacifica, but behold, a red dodge hornet. The employee then tells me, no, this is Avis' c10, not budgets...as you probably know, they are owned by the same company. She points me the other direction where we came from. There is no c10 budget, it's just the alphabet once through which starts on Avis' side. Now we are walking through this garage without any help. I finally find an employee who says he will help, I tell him the van isn't there and he proceeds to find me a different van instead which he never even looks at, just says here are the keys. A black Chrysler Pacifica. Mind you, the one I had was suppose to get had about 15k miles....this one has 50k+ and is a dumpster fire. I took 18 pictures of the outside with all the damage on this thing. Gouge marks up and down the van and small areas where there was no paint, and significant damage to the bumper (looked like someone backed into something). The inside was dirty, but nothing crazy, we found a few pieces of garbage, a couple hair ties on the seat, and stuff like that. They obviously didn't do a good job vacuuming before giving it to us. I figured I documented the outside, should be good to go. I was so pissed at this point I just wanted to get out of there, wrong move. The car did it's job with all the traveling, but that was about it. Unfortunately, it didn't end here. 1 week later after I returned the vehicle I get an email from Budget. Figured they were apologizing for the awful experience since I did a review they sent to me in an email and gave them a 3 out of 10. I was dead wrong. It was a bill for cleaning the interior of the car. The funniest part, was it was due to animal hair. Are you kidding me?!?! We didn't bring a pet with us (stayed in 5 different hotels and never had a pet charge, why? Cuz we didn't have one!), didn't pick one up while we were here, hell, we didn't even go to a zoo or farm that had animals. I called customer service and they basically asked, did you tell the agent when you picked up or when you dropped it back off about the condition. I said no, but I had pictures that were dated. Her response? Oh well, you didn't let anyone know, so.....She gave me an email address and told me to send the pictures in. I am seething right now. What a scam, they will not be getting there cleaning free, I will dispute this charge through my credit card until the day I die. Im calling back tomorrow to speak to a manager. I will be asking for pictures of the animal hair we supposedly left in this vehicle from our ghost pet. What a crock, I thought I did enough to cover myself, but I guess not. Just unbelievable. Do better Budget. Just a terrible experience, stay away!!! If I could give them zero stars, I would! Get to airport an over 100 people in line so losing 2 hours out of our vacation. Totally unacceptable as they know how many people are coming at one time and do nothing to staff up to handle it. The car pickup went very smoothly and we were upgraded twice! But the best was yet to come. My husband realized he had left his phone on the seat of the Uber we arrived in. I only had USA data on my phone . Our wonderful agent, Cippi, came to the rescue and went out of his way for us, contacting the Uber driver by calling the lost phone, and arranging to meet the Uber driver outside the rental centre. We were quickly reunited with the phone. Cippi would not accept any reward, he was simply happy to have helped. What a guy. Five stars is inadequate. read more

I haven't traveled in a long time and I haven't rented a car in a long time, but boy was this an experience. First of all the older guy at the counter literally turned down 2 others ahead of me and me being ready to just pick up my keys and go, he said that I never finished the registration and he kept insisting on finishing it before coming back yo the line. It was cold and I flew in from LAX, at this point i've been waiting almost two hours. Got someone on the phone and she was ild me ahead can find it on her end and asked to speak to him, when I went back into the line; unfortunately, I got another girl who did find it but then tricks me into paying for the deposit by letting me know it will return into my account after 7-10 business days. At this point, I was so tired that I caved in. Also there were several cracks on the windshield so if you're renting there tor the first time, I would definitely insist on taking pictures all around the vehicle. SCAM - excessive fees I went to the beach on our trip to Boston. I rented a car for six days, bought the insurance and returned the vehicle. Upon return, the attendant let me know everything looked good and we carried on with our day of travel. I returned home to a notice of a $450 cleaning fee-- charged for, get this, SAND. A detailed car, top to bottom is $250 -- you pay your employees $18 an hour... you do the math. You rent a car in a beach town and there is sand involved. When will I learn... don't dismiss yelp reviews. There is a reason Budget Logan has 1.5 yelp stars! My flight landed at 10pm and I didn't drive off until 1220am and I didn't have any checked luggage to claim! The wait for the bus was long... but to be fair that is MassPort's fault. Arriving at the rental car facility we waited about 1 hour to check out. Of course the Economy car we reserved was not there so they gave us a Jeep Gladiator. This sounds great... except someone forgot to put a snow brush inside and of course it snowed on our trip in Maine. I had to brush off the car with my hands and a credit card. The vehicle was heavily deodorized, making me nauseous after the first week until it wore off, in a week & half, only to expose the reason for it, extremely intense marijuana smell. I will never rent from Budget again! I am 70 years old and rented for a week out of Boston airport. I drove up to Maine for a few days with two friends. A week later I get a letter saying they are charging me an additional $125 for a cleaning fee for "excessive sand." I immediately called because I knew this had to be wrong. The customer service rep sent me pics showing nothing that the normal vacuuming that's done before the car is rented back out would've taken care of. What a scam! First of all, I have one of those fast checkout membership. But I could not find the fast checkout area. Later, after I got my car through the regular rental line, I found out that the fast checkout was inside the garage. Secondly, after one hour of waiting, it was finally my turn. I then spent fifteen minutes trying to tell the agent that I did not want extra insurance. Thirdly, I was told to find my car at the A1 lot. There were helpers at the budget garage, and they told me where the A1 lot was. I then took my luggage in the direction of the A1 lot. When I got there, I could not find the A1 lot. The parking spaces started at A9. So I went back to the area where the helpers were located and told them that I could not find the A1 lot. Rather than helping me, they told me that if I could not find the lot, then go back to the line and someone could help me. I will never use this car rental agency again. read more

We tried to call Budget for a replacement car but the agents at the 800 call center told us we needed to call nearby locations since they didn't have accurate inventory counts. Calling nearby locations mostly sent us back to the 800 call center. We were completely dissatisfied with the responses would from the agents so we spoke to a manager who claimed his name was Lombardo in an office in CT. He was absolutely the worst manager and if I was his boss, I would've fired him on the spot. He has NO Customer Service skills and could care less about our predicament. He just kept telling us to call nearby locations of which we didn't even know where they were. We had to suffer with this vehicle because we needed to get to Cape Cod for a relative's wedding and couldn't be late. We called roadside assistance but were told it would take at least 90 minutes or more to get a replacement vehicle but we couldn't wait. This was the ABSOLUTE WORST NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A RENTAL CAR AND RENTAL CAR COMPANY!!! Already been waiting 1/2 hours behind only 3 people. The app tells you if you have a Fastbreak number you should get an email telling you to go to a certain zone and pick any car you want. That never happened. My husband tried to talk to the someone at the FastBreak counter and there was yet another line. read more

No one was at the first desk area we went to, even though the computer was on and open with company information, it seemed like somebody had just left their post area. We walked around for a bit and found another desk area. Nice desk customer service but took forever because of the lack of employees. Employees that gave us the car were very uninthusiastic and didn't seem to care about us or other customers. Car was dirty when we got it, smelled like smoke and had a cigarrette on the floor. One of the passenger windows had some sticky sticker thing on it, no idea what that was. Car also only had USB-C to USB-C charging ports, which we were not warned about beforehand. We have never seen this in a rental car before so we were confused. If we had known this, we would have brought our USB-C to USB-C chargers. Instead, we had to buy new ones. MASSIVE amount of fees attached to the bill. The $345 estimate ballooned to $535 on return (I returned the vehicle on time). Plan ahead. Any "deal" you get may have about $165 in EIGHT additional fees; and that does not include the tax once it's all tallied up. Look elsewhere. If there are no cars anywhere else, I imagine taking a Taxi everywhere you need to go will end up being a lot cheaper. read more

What a shitty, filthy company. The agent rushed us through the rental agreement process without asking us if we wanted any optional services. We just assumed they would ask if there was anything optional. Lo and behold, when we got the final receipt it was TWICE what we originally agreed too. Unless you take the time to read through pages of small print on a small screen of a credit card reader, you'd have no idea of all the hidden fees and them giving you services you didn't ask for. If you did take the time to read it, I'm sure everyone in line behind you and the agent would start heckling you to hurry up. We tried to call, there was ZERO customer service and they wouldn't transfer me to the Logan aiprot manager so I could give them an employee review. They just kept saying "you signed the contract." These clowns are unbelievable - their website let me reserve a car, then 10 minutes before I was meant to pick it up they called to say they don't have any cars after all. I asked to have them cancel the reservation, and they charged me a $150 'processing fee' for their mistake. When I called the location, the guy that answered was completely useless, not taking any responsibility at all and I had to call corporate to hopefully get it straightened out.
