I've rented cars in the U.S. many times before with this exact same license and never had a single issue. The staff were condescending, rude, and treated me as if I were dishonest. They clearly lacked basic knowledge about foreign licenses, which is shocking for a global rental company. Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.

Tyrone, the manager, said the car had dog hairs in it, he was allergic, and the car needed to be sent out for detailing -- and they need to charge a $450 cleaning fee. He kept emphasizing that he had allergies. Total gaslighting. To be clear, Avis terms and conditions do not say that you have to clean your car before returning it. They simply state that renters will be charged a "reasonable fee" for "excessive stains, trash, dirt, soilage, odors, or pet hair." By no means, was my car returned with "excessive" anything. This was a scammy, fraudulent charge, and it was only by accident I found out the same day, and was able to rush back and take photos and videos of the car interior. After I complained, Tyrone gave me a "courtesy call" later that day to say he would reduce the cleaning fee to $150. What a joke. It took me three days to get Avis to reverse the charges. I had to call their customer service numerous times and go back and forth on emails. Avis makes it very difficult to reverse the charges. You have to be very persistent. If you have a video, they only accept files less than 10MB. This was known Avis/Budget scam. I thought I got a good deal on Hotwire. Next time I will pay more and go to National at the airport. Avoid Avis -- and this particularly this location -- like the plague. If you do rent from them, take photos and document everything, so you don't get screwed by Tyrone and his "allergies."

Mixed experience…read more First off, the good stuff: it was the best deal through costco travel, the wait first time around was quick on a Tuesday morning, returning on a Monday morning was also very quick, a brand new fleet of ford focus hatchbacks which are nice to drive, the manager was nice and reasonable, and location was easy for me to access. Anyway, it was the memorial day weekend and I booked a rental for 3 days. If you are looking for this place, please note the rental office is on Sydney st. When I got there the line was out the door. This place is independently owned and serving as both Budget and Avis. It took me about 55 minutes to get my car. They had 2 people and sort of 3rd person who is probably the owner trying to help out. They were so...painfully slow. They ran out of Economy cars so I ended up getting an SUV. Not what I wanted but it was a nice car and the gas mileage was not horrible. Anyway, they said they are going to charge me a fee $13.32 fee on top of the priceline price. I was surprised by that but after waiting for almost an hour I was like whatever just give me my damn car so I can get out of here. So I got my keys, parking ticket and contract and walked to the garage. All rentals are on the 2nd fl. So just walk in to the garage and don't take the elevator like I tried to. So, I got my car and trying to get out of the garage the parking ticket didn't work. They had told me not to pay if that happens and call for assistance. So I had to wait for the attendant guy to come and let me out. Returning was pretty quick and easy because I was the only one and there were no lines. I contacted Priceline about the extra charge and they said they contacted the company and the company said they overcharged me accidentally and that I would be getting a refund. I wonder how many times they've tried this angle. Glad I contacted PriceLine. So be aware of these guys trying to add charges to your bill. Update:6/11/18 Stay away from these crooks. This is like that gift that keeps on giving, I was charged $18.35 for tolls. Problem is I purposely avoided all Toll roads. I have no idea why I'm paying for toll when driving on back roads. Had to report this as fraud and cancel my card so they don't charge me for anything else.
