Budget Car Rental-ZERO stars. Worst rental car experience of my life.
1. Spent 1.25 hours in rental car line at Boston Logan Airport at 2:30am, only to have agent tell me that "this line is normal for summer". Might want to hire a couple more employees. Many vocal, disgruntled customers in line, making the wait even more unpleasant. I had a reservation! Not acceptable.
2. Did not receive the car I asked for.
3. "Low tire pressure" light on when got to car at 4:00am,
4. Informed check out agent of light and concern. He said "those lights just come on all the time, it's fine and your tires are fine. I wouldn't worry about it all" (now be on your way-there's a line behind you). Made it safely to hotel-phew!
5. After about 1 hour of driving the next day, got a flat tire on Hwy 6 in Boston-super busy road, kids in car. This was very disconcerting as it is a busy, narrow highway. It was NOT a safe situation.
6. Spent 30 minutes on phone with Budget Roadside Assistance (asked for different car from Roadside assistance lady who said I'd have to go back to airport, which would be 4+ hours to get back where I was bc traffic), 30 minutes waiting for assistance to arrive, 30 minutes to have tire changed to spare and 30 minutes heading to Tire Service store to get torque checked--two hours total dealing with flat in unsafe place for anyone to be on the side of the road, especially children.
7. Low tire pressure light remained on after tire changed. Tire Service Center rep said it would probably remain on bc I was driving on spare, but it should be fine.
8. Low tire pressure light varied between constant, flashing and off, also getting Tire Pressure Fault light. Having the indicator light changing every time I got in the car was very unsettling.
9. Called Budget to discuss case, was disconnected on Budget's end after 15. Called back, finally spoke with agent, who informed me I needed to call back in 48 hours. Called back in 48 hours, was disconnected again. Agent got me a Case Number and told me there was not much they could do until I returned my car and was billed. So far about 1 hour on phone with no resolution.
10. Once car returned, was able to speak with agent who could give me $60.81 refund for "which was 1.5 days of rental for time lost and hardship."
11. Did not receive refund after about 1 week, so called again (disconnected again-noticing a pattern to their automated system). Finally received refund a few days later.
12. Received letter in the mail stating that I would be charged $238.68 for vehicle repair, emergency roadside assistance and administrative costs.
13. Composed email to Budget with issues. Their response was automatic and did not address issue.
14. Spoke with Corporate, who stated that "since we refunded you for time lost, we have accepted the tire issue as our responsibility, I should be able to get this refunded."
15. Refunded $177.87 (the two refunded amounts equal the bill for the tire repair). The time lost and hardship and tire repair were two separate issues and should be billed as such.
16. Called Budget again. Was disconnected (again) after 10 minutes. Called again. Agent said his hands were tied and "not even corporate can refund you more money."
I spent 1.5 hours of vacation on a dangerously busy road with my kids, waiting to get tire changed. Every time I got in the car, I had the stress of wondering if another tire was going to become flat. I spent over 10 hours on the phone or via email with Budget, dealing with with issue and basically had no resolution. MORAL: never rent from Budget. Their customer service is atrocious! #budgetrentalcar, #worstrentalcaragencyever, #budgetrentalcarsucks read more
