Marth is the best dog trainer I've ever worked with! I have a pug who was showing leash aggression and a handful of classes with Marth really did wonders for him. In our classes we uncovered that my pug's aggression and behavior was stemming from boredom and a lack of structure. Each lesson with Marth was a different area of focus on things like structured playtime the right way, creating mentally stimulating activities for your dog, dealing with distractions in your environment, behavior around other dogs in a social environment, providing structure and consistent communication to your dog on walks, and so much more! We couldn't even make it all the way across the street, no matter how much I cajoled him. After an hour of teaching me how to build Moch's confidence and how to be a better cheerleader, we were actually walking! Moch is obsessed with making friends--he whines when you don't let him greet other dogs and extend the invitation to play. Social class taught him only certain dogs want to play with him, and it gave me a chance to work on being the most exciting playmate he has. One of the other benefits is the community Marth has built. Everyone was so supportive, even when Moch decided to boycott walking halfway through social class (to my great embarrassment). Last week, Mochi took his AKC CGC test and PASSED. Moch also got his AKC Novice Trick Dog Title, and we have begun preparations to take the AKC CGC Community test this upcoming week. Training with Marth has been a game-changer for our oldest shiba inu, Yuki. He was originally trained by a different trainer during the pandemic at 5 months. Unfortunately prior to sending Yuki to that trainer during those critical puppy months, he was never walked, trained to sit, or any other practical training skills that would be easy for us to control him due to the pandemic. After TWO near-death car accidents where Yuki escaped because his recall was so terrible, we decided to send him back to training again. Before I begin my review, I'd like to share a little bit about my pup. Milo is a DEAF 10 month old Pitbull mixed puppy. He is a loving sweet boy but because of his special needs it was 1) getting hard to communicate with him and 2) because I wasn't able to communicate with him he was getting away some typical puppy misbehavior. This is where Marth comes in. We've only met with Marth for two sessions and one social class and we already see a HUGE improvement. Marth has introduced us proper sign language signs that we now use to communicate with Milo. He educated us on how to properly hold a leash and how to control it, which is important when walking a dog. Milo has learned and is continuing to work on skills to keep him from from running towards strangers (dogs included) for attention and play time. What can I say about Marth and his training that others haven't? This review is months late but allow me to start from the beginning. I adopted my dog mid-Pandemic when she was 7 months old, and - thinking I knew best - immediately enrolled her in Petco training. What a bust. My dog was still pulling on walks, lunging after other dogs, and barking at everything. What was the training technique? Give her more treats as a distraction. It didn't work and instead made my dog's bad habits worse. Feeling hopeless and helpless after 3 sessions, I was referred to Marth - and what a Godsend he is. Cannot recommend Marth enough. It's rare to find someone who cares so much about their clients (human and dog), and is so dedicated to seeing positive results. My husband and I have both had dogs before, dogs that could do basic tricks, and were well-behaved -- but there's so much we didn't realize we didn't know. We've been training with Marth for roughly four months now and the improvements that we've seen in our puppy, Vida, are immeasurable. Vida is a rescue and she used to be extremely easily frightened but over the course of the last four months we have seen her blossom so much! She LOVES going on walks, constantly wants to play with other dogs & has even discovered her bark. Within the first four months of training we have gotten several commands down from sit, down, heel, touch & come. Her leash walking gets better with each walk & session that we have. Marth is strict in his teaching (as he should be) and you can tell her really enjoys what he does. Vida gets excited when she sees him and leaves each of her sessions absolutely freaking exhausted. If you've ever owned a Westie, as we do, you know these are headstrong little dogs. My boyfriend bought me a mini-golden doodle for Christmas in 2020, and we started working with Marth in Jan. when our pup was only 8 or 9 weeks old. I can't express this enough-THIS TRAINING WAS EXCELLENT! I am a very busy and active person, and I honestly couldn't handle a dog if it wasn't trained and well-behaved, so taking the time out of my busy schedule to go to class once a week was essential and TOTALLY WORTH IT! We did 20 private trainings over the course of about 5 months (around 1 session a week), and our dog mastered advance obedience (he sits, stays, comes, & lays down on command), on and off leash reliability, home etiquette (I can even take my dog in other people's homes and he doesn't jump on their couch or tear up their stuff), and he learned playful tricks! I take my dog with me to restaurants, the beach, and I can even take him on a plane and he'd sit on my lap and chill because he respects me and others. Everyone compliments my dog and says "Wow! He's sooo good!" and he's not even a year old yet...he's only 9 months (about 30 lbs)! This wouldn't have been possible without the help of Marth. Honestly, I can't thank Marth enough for everything he has done for my little pug and I. Rocky is my one year old pug that is literally afraid of every little thing that moves. Ever since he became a part of my family, he has faced many challenges that led to him not being able to behave properly. Since he was about 4 months old, my only goal was to teach him how to properly behave in every type of environment so I started with his training at petco but that was a complete waste of time and money. My little Rocky didn't even learn how to sit in the three months of training. I used to get very discouraged because everyone told me pugs are not trainable, pugs are stubborn and that all they're good at is sleeping on the couch. Months later when this pandemic started, I had a lot of free time and all I could think about is how I was gonna get my dog trained. Rocky was never a bad dog, he just didn't know any better, he couldn't go on walks because he would pull so much to the point that he couldn't breathe anymore, he destroyed all my furniture and every bed we would get for him, he barked at literally everything and everyone, and worst of all, he didn't listen. When he was about 8 months old, I thought it was too late to train him however, Marth proved me otherwise. During the first few sessions with Marth, Rocky already knew how to walk better, he knew how to sit, come and stay. I was amazed by how much he improved in just a few sessions. His training progress was interrupted by some medical conditions that he has but we still didn't give up, he keeps making progress. Rocky learned all his commands by the end of his training, giving me more time to focus on teaching him some tricks, there's nothing cuter than seeing him do rollover . My girlfriends one year old female boxer was so out of control that we would have to lock her into a room alone when we had company over. I was afraid to have her around other dogs including my own.
