Cute and cozy restaurant on the corner with outdoor covered patio. Decided to stop here passing through on our way up north because of the great reviews. Service is FANTASTIC! We were immediately greeted and seated on a Saturday morning. The staff is friendly and checked on us several times. Food is tasty and came out pretty FAST. French toast andwas fluffy, sausage links were plump n juicy. Turkey avocado omelette was pretty tasty too! Parking was tough for us but one of the servers told us you can park across the street for free at the olive station for 2 hours. Not knowing beforehand we parked quite w ways down the street. Upon leaving we saw there are a few spots at the police station with a sign marked 1 hour parking.

Great food! Great service! Cute vibes! We went here for a quick breakfast pitstop before heading to the beach and it was a wonderful stop. They have a lot of historic/classic art about Capitola as a city which was a nice touch. Their ALT and BLT sandwiches are filling and tasty. Their bacon and eggs is also a hearty meal, especially since it comes with hash browns. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely stop by again.

The Carnitas Benedict was BOMB. The cooks and staff are all Latino and they had the best vibe and knew exactly what to recommend. Perfect, casual, delicious brunch.

Adorable little brunch spot in Capitola! It's worth the wait if there's a line. The portions are ample, the food is tasty, the service is fast. What else do you want? The place is a little tight, but that's what you get with a small house-like venue. There is an outdoor patio too, if the weather permits. It's within a few minutes of the village, so it's just out of the way of the hustle and bustle.

If I could leave a 0 I would. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I don't leave reviews, but I wish I would have read this before I ate there. We received undercooked eggs (the whites were still clear), and when we drew attention to it - no apologies, they just flipped over the eggs and gave them back to us. Our waiter disappeared, and we had to ask multiple times for water. They completely forgot an item we ordered, but by that point we did not want it. There was a hair in my sour cream. Nothing we ordered tasted good. The French toast was not French toast, it was toast soaked on one side, and the eggs and potatoes were flavorless. Very cute ambiance, shame the service and food quality are so terrible.

Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either when it came to our food. The location is fairly convenient if you want something in Capitola, but not in the touristy area with friendly service. Another plus is it's very close to the main parking area.

This is such a cute and quaint cafe. Discovered it on Yelp while visiting Capitola and am so glad we decided to check it out. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my wife had the Breakfast Burrito. Both were phenomenal and we both were beyond satisfied with our selections. I also love how fast and attentive the service was. We were really hungry when we arrived, so we truly appreciated how fast we were seated and received our food. I definitely recommend checking out Avenue Cafe for breakfast whenever you find yourself in Capitola!

We always walk by here when going to Capitola downtown and this cafe always has a long line. This time on a Saturday noon time, the place was actually not busy , so we decided to try it. We both ordered the NY steak and eggs special. Mine with over easy eggs and my boyfriend's with scrambled eggs. We had high hopes but the meat quality was very poor. We couldn't eat it at all. The steak was nicely grilled but the meat was so chewy and tough! There was no seasoning whatsoever, not even a bit of salt to enhance the flavor. My boyfriend said it was not consumable for humans. Hash brown was very good and crispy. Eggs were cooked to perfection . Service also didn't have a clue that we didn't touch the steak and didn't ask why. Don't understand why this place gets such great reviews! Must have had all the negative ones removed.

This is a great hole in a wall type of local cafe in Capitola. Great local ambiance and people are nice. Foods are type of comfort food. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (2 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are below average . ( must be inflation ) 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of mexican/continental food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare locally. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies Total max is 25 Score 18 Stars = 72% round up to 3 stars

A cute little spot to go to. Always saw it when I was driving on the street and decided to check it out with boyfriend. Food was amazing and fresh. Nice portions and decent priced. We had a pitcher of mimosas and it was delish. Waiter was pleasant and attentive. Nice quiet stand casual spot.

If you're looking for a no-frills, down-home diner experience, Avenue Cafe is your spot. This place is as casual as it gets and the service is friendly and welcoming. Now, I will admit that I wasn't blown away by their hashbrowns. I mean, let's be real - who likes mushy hashbrowns? But hey, everyone has their own taste, so don't let my opinion stop you from giving them a try. What I did love, though, were their benedicts. Holy moly, these things were delicious! They've got a few different options to choose from, including classic, salmon, and veggie, or southern, so there's something for everyone. And their egg was perfectly poached, you know that's my weakness! Overall, Avenue Cafe is a solid choice for a no-frills breakfast or brunch. It's not fancy, but it's got a laid-back vibe that's perfect for a lazy weekend morning. Great walking distance to Capitola village too if you wanna walk off the food afterward.

It's small, lacks ambience and you may need to wait for seating... But the food was great, service was quick, prices are reasonable and the location is close to the ocean and shops. Given the constraints (size and generally challenging environment for hiring restaurant workers) it's tough to expect more than what you get at Avenue Cafe. 5 stars for doing the most they could.

I ordered the omelette Florentine- it came with an ample amount of bacon and fresh spinach and not too much cheese. The hashbrowns were seasoned perfectly (although they could've been a tad bit crispier) and my meal came with an unexpected side of warm peperonata sauce which was a lovely accompaniment to the dish. My dining partner had the eggs Benedict. She requested her eggs poached hard and they were prepared perfectly to her liking. The Benedict sauce tasted fresh and delicious. My toast was served with real, room temperature butter. The gentleman serving us was very friendly and attentive. The ambience was clean and cozy and the dishes were reasonably priced. I would recommend this to my friends! read more

Aromas galore. Place is small and quaint. Exactly what you would expect from a small town near the beach. I drive across California and have been to some really Shi$$$ places and some nice places. The employees are very friendly and helpful. I ordered the bacon avocado eggs benedict with the homefries. It was very flavorful, with noce meaty bacon. My daughter got the kids pancakes, I knew she wouldnt eat all 3 of them so I took two and put them on a napkin because I didnt want to have them dirty a extra plate or make all of them soggy to bring home for later. The waitress saw me use the napkin and brought over a plate. We all laughed. read more

Great breakfast place near Capitola village. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict with house potatoes and it was delicious!! I wish the portions were a little more but it was still well worth it. They have a nice menu with plenty of choices. I will definitely return here. read more

I actually worked at Avenue Cafe for a little over six months last year. Never have I given a place that I have worked a 5-star review after knowing "the truth" about it from the inside. Avenue was a different story. Not only was it a great atmosphere to work, but even as I continue to go back as a customer, I'm met with the same consistently great food (Mexican breakfasts were my fav!!), friendly & prompt service, and the wonderful atmosphere thanks to Sal and his staff. Great location, cute, and very clean. Plan to wait on the weekends because it will be busy... for good reason!! Avenue Cafe is a gem of Capitola, and I plan on frequenting it for a long time. read more

My husband and I ordered the bacon avocado eggs Benedict and salmon avocado eggs Benedict. Both were great, with perfectly poached eggs, delicious hollandaise sauce, and excellent salmon. The home fries were also very good! They were very busy when we came in, and yet we had awesome service. Highly recommend! read more

Such a cute little restaurant. Probably not a great choice for a large group, as it is a small, cozy restaurant with only about 8 tables. Service was great, the server was friendly and coffee and waters were filled quickly. As for food, boyfriend really enjoyed his bacon and cheese omelette and was very impressed with the sourdough toast. I had eggs Benedict with bacon and avocado, bacon was thick and crispy and eggs were poached perfectly. However, we both agreed that the hash browns, while flavorful and yummy, could have been crispier. We will definitely be going back soon! read more

Came here today with my friends on our weekend getaway to santa cruz and the surrounding area. Looking for a cute lunch place, we stumbled upon this gem but did not notice that they close at 2pm. We walked in about 10 til 2 and feeling bad, we apologized but our waiter automatically told us it was no problem at all. The food was amazing, perfect serving size. We were very surprised with the pleasant customer service and accommodation given that we walked in 10 minutes until closing. Highly recommend! read more

Really disappointed considering how great the reviews are. We got a smoked salmon avocado Benedict and a bacon avocado benedict, which would have been great had they not been served with the the most unripe avocados, had to put them off to the side. Hash browns were super soggy, maybe from frozen? The Mexican food that others got looked amazing, but I doubt we'll go back, $35 for a slightly sub par breakfast is a lot. read more

So excited this place has taken over the old taqaria. When you walk in you get that warm and inviting feel. Everything is so clean and organized. The owner and staff don't treat people as just costumers but as if they were inviting you to their home for a home cooked, made from scratch meal. That is exactly how their food is. The biscuits and gravy are the best around. I love that the BLT comes with avocado. This is definitely my favorite breakfast or lunch stop. read more

This a cute little breakfast place on the corner of Capitola and Riverview. We came here on Easter Sunday and it wasn't too busy. Thankfully it was a beautiful day and the windows of the cafe made for a lovely view. The food was good! Portion size was perfect and everything was prepared fresh. Would come here again! read more

I'm hesitant to review this place because I don't want everyone to know about it. Absolutely delicious! I had the bacon and avocado eggs Benedict and it was flavorful and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend had an bacon and cheese omelet and said it was delicious, as well. Tiny little place, but we got seated right away (Thursday a.m.). Waiter was fast and very friendly. This is a little gem right in town. The cafe is fairly small you may have to wait. They are open for breakfast & lunch. I had a traditional bacon & egg breakfast my sister had the breakfast quesadilla both very good. The people who work there couldn't have been nicer. There is a mix of tourists & locals. The cafe is in a old Capitola house it's really cute. Will go again! read more

We came with our daughter when she was about two years old well behave child. As we got seated the owner gave us the evil eye! Our daughter got up to seat next to my wife then the owner rolled up his eyes as if he was bothered by that! Our daughter was trying to grab the jelly once again the owner he gave us the mean look then eventually he came to snatch the caddy out of the table ! How rude!!!! We ate then left disappointed by his attitude! Two years went by to return to this place this time everything went fine except the owner just kept looking at our table maybe because we had a child with us? A month later we came back around 2pm my wife & our daughter got inside to ask for a table for 3 while I was parking our car. So I got by the door I took a look inside & my wife wife said" they are not taking more people!!! Fine so how can I restaurant turn down a hungry child ???? How???? At 2 pm when I believe they close at 3pm? In a few words this place is probably the most arrogant restaurant place in Santa Cruz county! The owner has not idea what customer service is about! His attitude is horrible he probably needs an anger management class! If you have children please do yourself a favor do NOT come here ! You're better off if you go to harbor cafe! Or Silver Spur! Both restaurants have way better customer service & they do appreciate their future customers "our children! read more

Just went for lunch, had the sirloin steak sandwich with chicken tortilla soup, it was excellent. Wife had the grilled chicken salad. It came with a whole chicken breast that was moist and great flavor. Be sure to order the bread pudding to share. Next week it will be for breakfast! read more

Since retiring I'm always on the hunt for a nice place to have lunch with a friend or two. Avenue Cafe provides that in a most delightful and charming setting with great service and excellent food. Their iced tea is great (not easy to do), and we decided to do early afternoon "breakfast." My short stack with over-easy eggs and sausage was classically delicious. My friend's Eggs Benedict was excellent. Service was prompt and courteous, the location was easy and charming . . . we'll be back, and soon! read more

Proportions were good though a little too bean heavy for me (but probably perfect for most people). Tostada itself wasn't crunchy - it was a bit stale - which was the only food complaint - but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. DRINK: Didn't order drinks (companions had coffee and had no complaints but also nothing particularly special), but they have freshly squeezed orange juice which is always an A+ in my book.
