I have nothing but positive things to say about this salon. The energy in the salon is relaxed, welcoming and warm. The stylists all really like and respect each other and you can feel that energy. Every time I have gone to Vanessa for cut and color of my totally grey hair I leave feeling refreshed youthful and 100% happy with outcome. Vanessa listens closely to what I'm looking for in color and style, and has advice and guidance on my changing aging hair. I popped around multiple salons prior to finding Vanessa and E street. I have found my forever salon. I should have written this review many years ago! All 5's from me!

Came to reds salon to get a balayage with virgin hair and had a nightmare experience. Chrissy was…read moresuper fun at first and I loved her energy. She was saying how confident she was that my hair would look amazing and that I'd only need to come in every 6 months or so to touch it up. She said how she had 20+ years experience and learned how to do Asian hair in San Diego. She said she was proud of her work and wanted to make her clients happy, even mentioning how some stylists she used to work with weren't as good. Lmao what a joke! I was there for about 6 hours and not only was it so painful because she was being so rough with my hair, it also came out so incredibly splotchy and uneven. I was super shocked at all the different colors... when I mentioned it to her, she said purple shampoo would fix it (it obviously did not lol). I asked her for a refund because of how much it'll cost to color correct it and she said it'd only required a touch up and I should be patient. She lied and said she told me it'd take multiple sessions (which doesn't even matter because I told her I'd be ok with a darker color so I can work up to it in multiple sessions. Who even lets you walk out with hair like that?). It was so incredibly embarrassing to have hair like that. I wore my hair up the entire time after going to Reds and even canceled plans with friends because of it. I was desperate to get it fixed so I asked her for a sooner appointment. Instead of taking responsibility, she just kept implying I was being dramatic. Thank god I didn't let Chrissy touch my hair again. I reached out to another hairdresser for their opinion and they were so shocked by how awful of a job Chrissy did. Not only was the bleach uneven around my head, it was also uneven on the actual individual strands. The whole time my new hairdresser did my hair she kept asking me what happened, what on earth Chrissy did, and if she was on something because it was so weird and randomly bleached. It took another 6 hours, $300+, & a miracle to fix. It's so messed up that Chrissy didn't refund me after having this super awful experience, but hopefully I can prevent other ppl from experiencing her terror. Save yourselves and go elsewhere. Y'all can check out my photos for proof of my hell lol.

Not just because my cut and style came out perfect per say but because of my EXPERIENCE. Chrissy makes you feel very special and I absolutely love her passion for hair. I noticed when I came to write a review, someone had totally dogged on her really like not giving constructive criticism at all. More like sh*t talking her. It blew my mind because I just saw her and she was feeling down about a "client" she had disappointed, and wished she could fix it. She was really bummed and not until JUST NOW do I understand why! She was so so upset that her client was not satisfied. If it was me I would have been pissed at that chick for dogging me and making me look HORRIBLE which is so messed up, cuz Chrissy is not perfect but her imperfections make her art 10 times better. She is always striving to learn and please her clients. Chick should have understood that Asian hair especially being so dark and when exposed to the sunlight turns tones under the top layers even tho you can't see them! So of course it's going to be multiple colors of blonde. Who's crazy enough to go that far in color in one session anyways! It's doable but damn I think Chrissy just didn't want to ruin your hair lady!! Chrissy has brought me from dark red brown to platinum blonde and honey blonde and back to full red and then ash blonde. I'm honestly blown away by that review. Shit talker not a helpful yelper. Anyways. Chrissy doll you are so selfless and wonderful. I feel like I've known you my whole life! Highly recommended Picture taken 3 hours after hair was done

From long curls, to a short bob, Rosie knows how to cut and style hair. I've always been super happy with the transformation. Further, I also have my hair colored. I've gone darker in the winter, lighter in the summer from dark brown to reddish lighter hues. I've even done higlights ranging from red to blonde. Rosie is excellent at adding color to hair (and covering up greys!). Overall, this young stylist has impressed me with her capacity to change my look. She is very capable of' seeing the end point' and always delivers a creative and new style. I highly recommend Rosie, and other experienced stylists at this salon. They are great with color, highlights, cuts and trims- whether you're looking for maintaining your look or in need of a a brand new style, they deliver. I would come here for a special occasion as well- such as for prom, wedding, special event. Very professional and perfectly priced. Rosie always takes her time, and I can tell she keeps me there until it looks perfect. I've always been satisfied with each and every cut and color. And after three years, that's a lot of events!

The first time, I called to see if they could push back my appointment, but the lady couldn't because she had an appointment right after mine, which is completely understandable. I was seen right when I walked in with no wait. However, my curls did not hold up for a few hours, so I was pretty disappointed since I paid $85 specifically for that. The second time I came in, it was a waiting game. I understand they were really busy since it was commencement weekend, but it seemed very unprofessional to not let me know how late they were running, especially since it was almost an hour. No one apologized or let me know I would be waiting more than just a few minutes. I rushed in because I did not want to be late and had I known I would be waiting 50 minutes, I probably would have stopped to eat or buy a drink before coming here. Anyways, I liked the makeup they did. It was exactly what I asked for. But the haircut was not. For reference, my hair was very long before, past my butt, and now it is barely below my shoulders. I kept reiterating that I did not want it short, and that is exactly what I got. I also wanted my hair in layers, and it is barely in two layers, not what I wanted unfortunately. Now I have to wait another two plus years to grow it out again. (Paid $252 this second time) I think the person in charge could definitely be more professional. He is also the one who washed my hair the second time I went in, and I honestly do not think he knew what he was doing. Not only did a lot of water get in my ears, but my back got really wet, and he forgot to remove my towel. I probably would not come back here.

(11/11/25) Would usually update photos to the finished product once I'm don't but sadly won't be doing that in the future. unfortunately I had a terrible experience on my second time here. I booked a 12 pm appointment for a balayage and cut. I used the Vagaro app something that I've used at many other places. I show up to my appointment and wait. I'm checked in on twice and was told I'd be seen soon. Well I wasn't. In reality I was waiting over 40 minutes and by the time I would have been seen it'd be almost an hour past my scheduled appointment. Really if the reverse situation happened and I was that late not only would they have already cancelled my appointment they would have charged me a fee. What's icing on the cake is another customer had a 12:30 appointment and came in much after me and was seen before me :/. I'm glad it worked out for him. But honestly the customer service was terrible for me. I felt so frustrated and sad on what was supposed to be a fun self care me time. I don't need an excuse and a reason for your mistake. Own up to it. If you do care about your customer then do something about it. Don't just smile and give some excuse that it's okay and it's not that late. I would have preferred to be called or texted. If you're running late let your customer know. Don't lie and force them to sit and wait with not knowing when they'll be seen. Perhaps you should have asked me if a 1 pm appointment would have been okay. But instead they did not do that. They told me it would be soon when in reality it was much much later. They had no regard for my feelings or time. I also have found that in order to try to catch up on time to make for another appointment (whoever would have been after me) there's always a risk that they might rush you. And that is not something I want to ever risk for my hair and color. My time is valuable too and that was disregarded and disrespected. Unfortunately I won't be coming back. Customer service is everything in the business I choose to support.
