That is most unusual for a construction project. Roger, the owner came out to the house on a Sunday and explained in terms that I could understand and appreciate why the house needed to be lifted. We hired Avalon to perform pressurized epoxy injection to fix around 20 foundation cracks. Their price is competitive and the service is great. Epoxy injection was done from crawlspace and they also dig out the dirt from external of foundation to seal the crack from outsize. They did such a great job! I live in Redwood City and wasn't sure if they could do the job and be on time every day. But they were and everyday they cleaned up so it wasn't a huge mess back there other than the normal that couldn't be clean up. I feel so safe in my house after the work was done. (I had a sink hole under my house.). After the project was completed, the guys put my backyard back together and it looked like they were never back there! I was very surprised. We discovered a long horizontal crack in the perimeter wall of our garage. I contacted a couple of foundation repair companies and got some quotes. We were not too impressed. Avalon Structural rescued me from a horrible situation I had gotten into with another foundation company. I am a Realtor with 24 years of experience and I was in the process of selling my own home. My property inspector noted a horizontal crack in the foundation and he referred a company to check it. This other company, well known in the area, completed an inspection at the cost of $500. They offered an estimate of $4,500 to "fix" the crack. Meanwhile, other contractors with whom I have worked, suggested I have the crack opened, at a much lesser cost, to see if it was just cosmetic. The first contractor seemed not to understand what I was asking for and even suggested I have another contractor open the crack. I was in a quandary with what to do and then I was introduced to Roger, with Avalon Structural. Roger immediately understood the situation and sent a man out the following day. Before the other company finally came back to me with an estimate of $1,500 to just open the crack to explore it, Roger's man opened it up, took pictures, got it engineer certified that it was non-structural and closed it again, all for only $600. The other contractor told me that 99% of those types of cracks were structural but that was not the feedback I was getting from several other contractors. As it turns out, I fell into that 1% category. I wonder how many other clients fell into that 1% category! We had a few issues with our foundation. We had two horizontal cracks and one part where the folks that did an extension to add a room and upper floor did not add a curb correctly. We had a few different companies give us bids. Price aside, the Avalon guys came through as the most thorough in their analysis and explanation. Richard spent a good couple of hours crawling with me and showing me the places needing repair. He was the only one who found the root cause for the problem - an incorrectly done deck installation on the outside that was hiding exposed rebar, which in turn was soaking up sprinkler water.
