They're always nearby to make sure my form is correct, and they never lose patience when I ask them to remind me how to do certain moves. Speaking of supervision, I went to Lift today for the first time in about a week and a half, and I told Chenell that I've been experiencing some pain in my left shoulder. She sent Dirk outside to talk to me about it, and after I described my symptoms, he re-wrote part of my workout and continued to check in to make sure I wasn't in any pain. I felt super safe and respected, and there was ZERO pressure for me to push through any discomfort. Hiiiighly recommend this place!

The environment is welcoming, supportive, and most importantly, safe in every way. As a woman, that matters more than it should, but here we are, still at that point in this dumb world, unfortunately. I have never once felt uncomfortable working out there. The gym itself has six stations, which makes it feel like a semi-private training experience and all of the training is with free weights. Every workout is tailored specifically to me, which is a huge benefit. I'm a former ballerina with injuries and fibromyalgia, so I need a lot of modification in my training, depending on the day. They always meet me where I am at and we adjust as needed. They also still manage to keep things challenging when I express wanting to push further but it is always in a way that feels safe and productive. One thing I especially appreciate, coming from a dance background, is how much they focus on body mechanics. Dirk, Chenell, and Emily don't just tell you what to do or demo it once and walk away. They actually take the time to explain what's happening in your body, how to move correctly, and why it matters. Over the past almost five years, I've gotten noticeably stronger and my body has changed for the better but beyond that, it's had a real impact on my mental health, too. Showing up here feels good; so good, that I recommend the gym to many of my friends. If you're looking for a place to train and a workout that's personal and supportive with real results, this is the place.

Kacy is big on progression and basically operates under the assumption that you can always go up in weight, which has pushed my strength up (especially hip thrusts and RDLs). It's small group training, which keeps the energy up because everyone's working at the same time. He'll keep you accountable and make sure you finish your sets and there's a decent chance you'll leave with a random nickname you didn't ask for but it does keep things entertaining. That's when I decided to look for a personal trainer. From day one, I was impressed by Kacy's knowledge and expertise. He has this uncanny ability to gauge exactly how much I can lift just by watching me do a single set--which I'm guessing comes from years of experience, but it's still impressive to see in action. Here's the thing about Kacy that might throw you off at first: he often looks distracted, like he's not paying attention. But don't let that fool you! He's tracking everything--your form, your reps, your timing--and he'll call you out if you're slacking on your sets. It's actually kind of amazing how dialed in he is even when it doesn't look like it. If you're looking for a knowledgeable trainer who will push you and keep you accountable (even when you think he's not watching), Kacy's your guy. Highly recommend!

Check in was easy and the front desk staff quickly gave me a run down on where the bathrooms and cubicles were. Every person gets a cubicle with a door to place their belongings! There was a towel placed on every reformer and they wipe down the machine for you after class!!! I've never been to a studio that does that for you, which is such a nice touch. My instructor was Ashlee and wow she was amazing. Her instructions are very clear and detailed. She made sure to demonstrate the moves and I really appreciate what a great job she did describing when to breathe, what muscles you should be working on, etc. It wasn't an easy class but I really enjoyed the challenge. It's well equipped with top of the line equipment, the most majestic Pilates reformers you've ever seen. It's got a massage suite, sauna, and cabinetry for storage. It's brand new, well appointed, and sparkling clean. Check-in process is dedicated to a great concierge-like experience. And the wrap-up process is also easy peasy; they do all of the wiping down / cleaning of the machines. You just gather your belongings and go! Also, it seems like a ton of selfies are being taken at the close of class for the gram. Like honestly some of them are maybe more here for the selfie than the workout, tbh =) Personally I prefer a more calming, soothing Pilates experience. The energy here is a little more Zumba in that the instructors are mic'd up and super high energy. I like it for when I'm in the mood for it, but I definitely wouldn't choose it for an everyday experience for myself. If it wasn't so turnt up, I'd be here regularly.
