Let me start by saying: I am a spa rat. I frequent all manner of spas in my home city of Las Vegas. We found our way here when another spa on the island had no same day availability. I love when the heavens align! We were greeted by Wendy, who was so warm and welcoming. She booked us appointments for the times we wanted and made us feel right at home. My friend and I did a 90 minute couples massage. She had Lucia and I had Ramona. These were seriously excellent massages. We both agreed it may be the best massage we have ever had. From start to finish, it was wonderful. With our knots gone, our relaxation was kicked into high gear. 10/10. Highly recommend this spa. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I think anyone considering the "Day of Heaven" package should understand our experience. We booked two packages together for my birthday, which was confirmed over the phone, and were told our day would be completed shortly after 4:00 PM. The packages advertised hand and foot treatments, massages, facials, mud wraps, a light lunch, and a small gift. Upon arrival, we were told our massages had been set up in separate cabanas. When we asked to be together, we spent roughly 10 minutes being discouraged from doing so because everything had already been set up and changing it would be inconvenient. They ultimately accommodated us, but having to advocate that strongly for something we had specifically booked together was an unfortunate start to a birthday spa day. The massages themselves were excellent, and the mud wraps were genuinely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the organization and hospitality surrounding the treatments were very different. We were frequently left unattended for long periods. During my mud wrap, I was partially unwrapped and handed my phone--with my hands still covered in product--and reprimanded for not answering calls because staff had been trying to reach us for our lunch orders. Instead of taking the order beforehand or asking us in person, I had to wait for and respond to a text while covered in product. No one returned, so I spent the remainder of the treatment partially unwrapped with my phone beside me. We had also been told to hydrate, yet had to specifically request water with lunch. Several hours into the day, we were told it was time for our facials and asked which of us would go first. This was the first indication that these treatments would not be performed together. We were confused because our packages had been booked together and, importantly, we had been told we would be finished shortly after 4:00 PM. We had plans afterward based on that confirmed timeframe. Had we been told otherwise in advance, we could have planned accordingly. At that point, the experience had become more stressful than relaxing. I asked to discontinue the remaining services and receive an appropriate partial refund. We had already not received the advertised hand and foot treatments, and ultimately did not receive the facials either. I then spoke with the owner, who focused on our expectation that services booked together would be performed together rather than the communication issues. She said she was handling personal matters and would get back to me regarding a refund. I completely understand that personal matters arise and can take priority. However, we never heard from her again. I even returned the following day hoping to resolve the situation. To be fair, the treatments we actually received--the massages and mud wraps--were very good, and this is not a criticism of the individual practitioners. The issue was the organization, communication, attentiveness, and lack of follow-through. For two "Day of Heaven" packages booked together for a special birthday experience, I expected the advertised services, the scheduling and timing confirmed to us, and professional follow-through when concerns were raised. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I would recommend confirming in writing exactly which services are included, whether appointments booked together will actually be performed together, and the true expected duration before booking. read more

We enjoyed our couples massages. I had Ramona, she is excellent. Not sure if I booked a deep tissue massage but it sure felt like it. That woman has some strong fingers lol. The 4 stars is because we would of like to have a locker room with a shower to wash off the lotion and oil. We smelt like essential oils for the rest of the day. read more

I have had several massages in my day but this one was very uncomfortable for me. I should have known when I asked her a question and she didn't speak English! Then the massage started with stretching my back out no real massage? The most uncomfortable part was she was focused on my buttocks? Like my whole buttocks? I get massages in a regular basis and I will tell you this is probably one of the worst. Not really sure she knew what she was doing. Very haphazard and disorganized, spent over half the time on a 90 minute massage on my back in one area of it. Barely got my arms and legs supposed to include a scalp massage which was never done and reflexology, which was never done. Completely freezing in the room with the door open with cold air coming in. Kept pressing on one area of my back, which I told her she was hurting me and then the rest of the massage had no pressure at all. It was supposed to be deep tissue. I can't believe this was the place where I was gonna spend money. But the phone call I had when I tried to book a reservation, was the reason I didn't. I experienced a bad receptionist which she said was the owner as well. I had left a voicemail prior to make a reservation because they weren't answering their calls. So when someone did call back everything was set and I was able to get a discount since I was gonna do it on my birthday. (They didn't do birthday discount anymore but the person the phone said I was able to get it) I thought everything was okay until I received another call 5 minutes later talking about making the reservation. I was confused and I told her I had already booked and asked me if I was staying at there hotel, which I had said no. She instantly told me that I was not able to receive the discount and asked her why. She was instantly rude on why I asked and continued with the conversation with making the reservation. Next step was to tell my name which I had done, After I had told her my name, she got very annoyed and wouldn't let me talk. It felt like I was being judged by my name and accent. It was very difficult for me to get decent customer service especially that it was the owner who I was talking to. Found this place the night before and called in the morning to schedule an appointment. It was very fast and easy which is everyone's dream when on vacation. Being dropped off in the towns rotunda the walk to the location was a little confusing since it's hidden inside the outdoor shops area. Once there, I was helped by the person at the front and signed some papers to get a better understanding of who and why I was there. Make sure you use the restroom before the massage too, they're located to the left of the massage area. In the room they'll instruct you to strip down and get under the blanket. What was really nice about my experience was my masseuse asked me if I had any thing I wanted to inform them about and I let them know about my sprain ankle. She made sure to go slow and steady in addition to not adding too much pressure. Really liked the arm and head massage what was really nice was once she got to my spine, she was able to make it all crack in the good type of way. After being massaged on my back for awhile she flipped me over and I also got to see a face, what was really reassuring was she was wearing a mask durring my session. Shows that they really care about their customer's safety along with their health. They also use warm towels to relax the body even further and it helped reduce the oily feeling as well. This place was very cute and fairly easy to find. A friend and I came to Catalina Island from LA to relax for a day trip. We were debating on this spa and Island Spa. We chose A Touch of Heaven because it had great reviews and basically half the price of Island Spa. This spa is located under a hotel and within a little market of local stores, cafes, and more spas. I booked the Revitalize massage and my friend did the Vitamin C facial. For my massage, i noticed a couple things. For one, my massage consisted of my hands, feet, and scalp. I noticed there was no sink in the room. I could be wrong but my masseuse did not wash their hands in between body parts. She started at my feet, went to my hands, and then to my scalp. That being said, I just felt super icky about how she massaged my feet first and then touched my scalp (as i have an extremely problematic scalp). The other thing is that I'm pretty sure on the website and brochure, it stated that this massage included a scrub treatment on your feet AND hands. My lady only put the scrub on my feet so I don't really know what happened to the scrub for my hands but honestly I didn't really mind as long as the massage was good. The massage itself was okay. I recommend taking off your shirt if you order this massage because my lady massaged my neck and shoulders as well when she reached the scalp portion of the massage. I wished she was a bit more firm when massaging my feet but that could also be my fault for not speaking up. Another thing is that the massage on my scalp felt more like a scratching massage. The peppermint oil felt really good on my dry scalp and I liked that my lady made sure she didn't tangle or mess around my hair too much. I just wished the scalp massage was more like a massage though. Overall the Revitalize massage gets a 3/5 rating. My friend on the other hand got the Vitamin C facial. A few good things is that her lady offered to charge us only for the Acne facial because my friend asked to customize the Vitamin C facial. I believe the Vitamin C facial was $130 and the Acne facial was $95 so we saved $35! However my friend said the facial was nothing better than a face mask you can do at home. I'm not sure if the facial comes with a massage but my friend received a shoulder and neck massage and just wished her lady was also a bit more firm with the massage. The facial did not last more than 20-30 minutes even though on the website and brochure says 60 minutes so keep that in mind. Overall, my friend said the facials itself were not very worth it and we rate it a 2/5. My last thing to recommend is that this spa is fairly open to the general public. That in mind, the chair to put your personal belongings is right next to the door that leads to the outside. My friend and I, being visitors of this island, were kind of scared that our belongings would be snatched when our eyes were closed. I would be more scared if either of us were face down but luckily we were both face up and occasionally could check on our backpacks. I'm rating this place a 3/5 because the ladies were very nice and the place was pretty clean. read more

Made a last-minute appointment here after finishing the Trans-Catalina Trail. I'd been hiking for days on a sore knee and leg, so when I got off the mountain, all I wanted was a massage. They booked me right away even though it was literally last minute (as in, "I can be there in 10 min"). My masseuse (Sabre) was very knowledgeable -- I was very impressed! I pointed out where things hurt and how I'd been managing on the trail, and she was able to spot the root problems, the ways my body had been compensating for those problems, and just work out the kinks and knots in my muscles. Made an appointment last minute and they had availability. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because I didn't expect it to be outside at the top of the stores in the plaza inside a cabana looking tent. You do have 85% privacy but because it's hot, they do have a fan that blocks that side to close all the way down so you can see down at the people in the court yard. The massage itself was GREAT! When I tell you, I asked for a deep tissue massage,... I GOT A DEEP TISSUE massage. The massage therapist I got I think her name is Rosa, don't quote me but she was fantastic! She got all the tight spots & made me feel super relaxed. Made sure the pressure was what I wanted. The customer service was great. The location is a little hidden but not difficult to find. You can either go through the outside in the courtyard all the way to the back. Passing the souvenir shops on the left hand side or you can go through the front side of The Metropole Hotel. Passing the receptionist desk on the right hand side & down the stairs on the right side. Like I said, hidden but not difficult to find. I would recommend this place! read more
