The quality on my nails were absolutely fabulous, they were shaped perfectly, and honestly I wouldn't go back to any other nail salon. This is my usual place but I was not happy with my pedicure this time. Had a lady I haven't had before. She had my pedicure water almost ice cold, had to ask her twice to make it warmer. Love this nail salon! Ask for Paul. He did the best job on my mani/ pedi that I've ever had. And I've been getting them about 18 years now. The massage he did on my feet and legs getting rid of pressure points had me so relaxed. He didn't leave any glue or junk u dee my nails. I'm so happy! read more

Avalon was great pre-COVID and are even better after! Their polishes are always fresh and they have a keen attention to detail! The staff is amazing (especially my girl Lucky). Friendly atmosphere with safety and cleanliness at the top of the priority list. To comply with legal regulations, they have set up plexiglass around the salon to keep both employee and patron safe and healthy. They did it in a way that doesn't feel suffocating or tacky. Horribly disappointing. I had such high hopes for this place. Dropped in for a pedicure. Chose the $55 pedicure that included a paraffin dip. Nails and heels should have been worked on better, but ok. My main concern was that twenty minutes after polish was applied it still would not cure. I informed the person running the front desk. She said that it takes time for polish to dry. I told her how long it had been, but she continued saying it takes time because of the layers of polish. I restated that it was not drying properly and showed her that it wiped off. I wiped it off with my finger! When I asked if she thought that was ok for polish to do, she stated that she didn't do nails so couldn't say. She asked if I wanted it redone. I said yes because I knew the polish was not curing properly. Another polish was applied which wasn't great, but would be ok enough even though a little smudged. I discovered as I checked out that I was charged for the fix. Her and the manager's reason was due to the second polish. I stated that it was because the first was not drying properly, but all they would say is that it was a polish change. They even insisted that I didn't understand when I restated it was to fix a problem which they knew about. They simply smiled, laughed to each other saying I didn't understand. Oh, I completely understand what these people are about. I know it doesn't matter if I return or not and I'm sure this review doesn't matter, but honest, polite businesses matter to me. My daughter and I both had our nails done today. We've been here quite a few times. Sadly, today has changed our minds on coming back. I took pictures of both our nail applications immediately after our service. I asked for manicure with gel nails. My daughter got acrylics with matted overlay. I asked the tech for one coat of funny bunny as I always get this(Even at Avalon before with nice results). I never had problems before with other techs. The nail tech said you need two coats and the lady who was tending to my daughter vouched that I needed two coats. I said I always get one coat. But, when in actuality It's because one the tech wasn't able to paint one coat and make it look nice. It's because the product was older and instead of getting a new bottle or opting for another color option that would work, she polished with a product that needed to be replaced. I said I always get one coat and before polishing I made sure the tech doing my nails knew this. So she proceeded anyway with two coats. My second coat of polish wasn't distributed evenly. You can see a inconsistent paint job. As well as my manicure. I always keep them short and filed nice. None were even and they were filed jagged and not fully tended to. My daughter's polish isn't fully matted at cuticle and you can see below in pictures it's very lumpy and her thumb looks like it has veins. Why is this okay?! As my daughter was getting her nails done, I went to pay in front and I showed the other nail tech taking my payment my nails. When I got there I specifically asked for one coat funny bunny and she said yes we can. When showing her my nails she did opt for a color change. I said no but refused application of different color. Anyone who knows gel process would know that means soak in acetone for said time then reapply. We shouldn't have to even go through this. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED. I didn't want another reapplication due to timing. Once I saw my daughter's nails when she walked up I said never again. People come to spend money and get pampered. Even ones in the same industry. I'm sure they wouldn't want their own nails looking this bad. Reputations speak volumes. This was NOT worth 85.00 I will say this. The only person I recommend at Avalon is Hughn (not sure if spelt correctly) If I could give him 10 stars I would. I think Avalon needs a class by him or hire people with the same work ethics as him. His applications are beautiful and he tends to your cuticles as well. I learned today that you can request him. read more

Absolutely terrible service. My friend and I waited for over 45 minutes to get a pedicure with barely anyone in the salon but plenty of workers. They took over two hours to do a basic pedicure and then they didn't even preform half of the services that were originally offered to us. When it was time to check out the lady charged me $15 extra for the gel polish when she never told me that was what she was doing and that wasn't even the polish I had chose. At this point I was now paying $50 for absolute garbage. I was so mad at that point we barely left a tip and walked out. I was very excited to try this place, as I'm new to Lafayette and am trying to find a good nail place. I had seen decent reviews and was intrigued by the "natural pedicure" since my skin is so sensitive to other products. However overall impressions were eh. The speciality pedicure was definitely not worth the price, it was the same as any other place and honestly not too convinced any of those products were actually "natural". I will say the lady who did my dip manicure (Kahtree?) was really nice and very receptive to all my requests, which is why I have this as 2 stars. But less than 2 days later my nails started chipping AND the small cut on my pinky turned infected (see picture). I'm used to places nicking my skin here and there since I have super thin cuticles, so that didn't really bother me and I was actually impressed she only cut the one finger, but when it turned infected the next day it REALLY makes me question the cleanliness of their tools. I'd like to start by saying the first time I went there I had a great experience. Polite and friendly staff but most important did a great job on my nails and toes. That is the reason I went back. The second time was HORRIBLE. The staff is friendly BUT the skill level and carelessness this time around was beauty school dropout level. I started with the pedi, she kept cutting me with the cuticle nippers and put an unknown blue liquid on the cuts which burned beyond belief. She messed up the polish 3 times and had to start over. Even the finished product was sub-par, then she put my flip flop on and smudged it. By this time she had been doing my pedi for over an hour and I said just leave it. Now I move over to get my mani-French Gel. A different girl does it, she filed my nails crooked, had my fingers soak in just a bowl of cold water, didn't do anything to my cuticle except pull off(not cut) a couple hang nails and then goes to pain. No lotion massage, nothing-it was basically a polish change. She starts to paint my GEL manicure and is using regular nail polish. I said something and she said "this gel"-I said NO IT ISNT, and then she was like, " ooh I'm sorry, grabbed wrong one." That night I woke up in the middle of the night with my toe throbbing. I had an infection from wear she cut me. I went back complained and demanded a refund. The manager apologized and issued it. It took almost 3 weeks for my toe to heal. Today was my third time going to Avalon nail salon. The first 2 times were great! In and out and customer service was amazing. I went today and waited about an hr before getting started. That's not a big deal, I'm willing to wait for good service! The first person who did my nails didn't get it right. I wanted shellac and it came out very splotchy! 4 coats later ( 1.5 hrs later also) we started from scratch. He had another girl come and do my nails. I couldn't find the color I wanted and asked her to find it and she had zero interest in looking for it and stated they didn't have that color. However, it's the opi new grease line which they had last week. So I settled for a different color. She stated how tired she was and ready to get off. My nails came out thick, uneven and misshaped. Didn't have time to spend another hour in there. Then upon check out, they wanted 25 dollars for just shellac and no manicure!! They settled for 20 and didn't charge me to take off the polish. Definitely will not be going there again or recommending anyone! read more
