My daughter and I went this past weekend for gel manicures. My daughter's nails are already peeling three days later! The woman who did my nails obviously runs the place and was far more concerned with the clients walking in than she was with me, her customer. She continually greeted them and arranged their services while doing my nails. Horrible customer service for the customer SITTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER! Not to mention that she didn't wrap my nails to remove the polish. She used the drill to grind it off and it was very painful...of which she was unaware because she wasn't paying any attention to me. Will never go again!! This was my 3rd time going to this salon--and the service has gotten worse each time!! Today, Kelly did my deluxe pedicure (which wasn't deluxe at all) with such poor customer service, she was so rude, threw a towel on the floor when I asked her to move it from by my feet so I didn't fall, and she whispered something under her breath... And then rudely told me to "go to the other side" for my manicure with no details as to which table, and she didn't even offer to help me get up, help with my belongings....nothing... And then she disappeared and someone else had to do my manicure... Kelly's attitude, disposition and piss poor quality of work is unacceptable. Do not go to this salon. Tl;DR Make sure you ask the price of everything because this salon charges for everything, and some techs might not tell you upfront This review is for Avalon Too. I really do enjoy this nail salon, the two times I have been here my nails have come out awesome! Althought upon reading other reviews, I have never been offered any refreshments :( (just saying). But I digress. Beware that there are a lot of upcharges depending on how you like your nails. For example my nails are "coffin-shaped" and it was an additional $4 to get a fill in (which is kind of ridiculous to me... they claim it takes extra time to shape... I don't think so). I've been to plenty of nail salons and have never been charged my shape, only length. What took them down from five stars was my interaction with my nail tech. I was already warned about the $4 charge up front by the manager (I think) who was very sweet. and I was completely fine with it . And my nails came out looking gorgeous.!!However, when it was time to ring up my bill it was $1 more than what I was quoted.. which honestly wasn't a big deal, I just was not sure what it was for. When I asked my nail tech she said that she "cut down my nails".... I guess.. all she really did was file them a little bit shorter with the electric drill. I remember her asking if I wanted my nails to be shorter (since everyone knows getting a fill makes your nails longer), but where I'm from that comes with the service. Also, the way she asked made it seem like it was at no cost. When I told her that I felt it was a little sneaky to charge me for a service and not tell me upfront. She tried to downplay it and said she "only charged me a dollar" and then quickly caught an attitude and told me "well its on the price list honey"(because I should have the price list memorized right?) and stormed off. And if we are getting technical, the charge for a real cut down was $5, so you can imagine how little of my nail was actually filed down . It was pretty late, so maybe she was tired and hangry... I'm not sure but I feel like it should have been handled differently because I have a right to question my bill. Working in customer service, you should always inform the client of additional charges, whether it is $20 , $100 or even .50 cents, so that situations like this does not happen. Clients work hard for their money and who knows what an extra $1 or $2 will do to their pockets. I say this as a warning to make sure you ask the price for any services the nail tech might offer you, no matter if you think it is a "basic service", no matter how casually they ask. Because instead of a $1 difference it might end up being a lot more. My fill in ended up costing about the same as a full set. read more

I have been getting my nails done on and off for 20 years. I have traveled all over the world due to Military so I have experienced many salons. I have been in the DMV area for 10 years and I have visited at least 15 salons. I am very particular with how my nails should look. I feel when I go into a place to get my nails and feet pampered I should walk away feeling relaxed and satisfied. Since coming to Avalon about a year and half ago that's how I feel when I leave. Holly is amazing at My pedicures and Kevin the owner is so talented and consistent with making sure I'm happy with My nails. Kevin is the longest nail tech I have had other then my first nail tech I had at 18. I recommend this salon to anyone looking for a beautiful environment that is welcoming and professional. Went in one afternoon to get a gel manicure. Johnny was great!! He paid special attention to my nails and cuticles which were really bad at that time considering I wait about 4 weeks between each gel mani. Once he got to the painting part, he took his time and made sure every spot on each nail was covered. I absolutely love that since most places won't move your finger around to make sure they get the entire nail. I would have gotten a gel pedicure as well but my toes didn't need it then. Update: Wrote a really nice review about how great this place was yesterday only to be proved wrong today. Last night, I broke one of the corners off of my nails so I went back today to have it fixed. When I walked in I told the technician who walked up to me that I was here yesterday, that one of my nails chipped, and that I wanted to have it fixed (completely willing to pay for the repair, BTW). She quickly rolled her eyes and said, "just one nail?" Yes, just one nail. Without saying another word she went back to her station and then beckoned me to her, saying she'll fix my nail. She then proceeds to huff and puff the entire time, talking smack about me in whatever language she was speaking, and after every file or coat of polish, throws my hand back at me like she can't stand to be bothered fixing my nail. While the acrylic was drying, she proceeds to aggressively start banging her nail file on the station. She made me so uncomfortable that I finally asked her if she was trying to let me know to give my hand back to her. She only said "no" and smirked. When she finished doing the slack ass fill/filling job she then proceeded to polish my nails and walk away when she was done. I got up to pay, and she informs me she's not done and sprays alcohol all over my hand, roughly rubbing it off with a towel. I couldn't wait to get out of there and was really upset that my great experience turned into a horrible one in less than 24 hours. I tipped her 5 bucks (even though I didn't want to give her a dime) and only then did she give me a haphazard smile and say thank you and she scurried away to the next person she could get tips from. Thank goodness the girl sitting next to me asked her tech something about the hand towels and he pointed to my tech and said, "Ask Hannah...she's in charge of the towels." So...her name is Hannah and she treated me like ish for NO REASON. I debate returning after this. PS- My "fixed" nail looks like a frigging triangle now. Such a let down. Whomever manages this place needs to speak with Hannah because her customer service is awful. read more

So my mom.and I booked appointments here. She got a pedicure and I had my eyebrows done. The shop itself is beautiful, and spotless. The techs we had were awesome. Best eyebrow work I've had done, the gentlemen who did them really knows his stuff. Mom was so happy with her pedicure, they removed some calluses as well and did an amazing job. This is a very clean salon with a staff that speaks English in front of you. It always makes my head hurt when I can't understand what people are saying around me and to me. Have been going there for a few years now, and have always been treated well by Kevin and his staff. But I must let him know that he needs to be aware of the fact that I was not welcome yesterday 3/7/18 (12:00). Place was empty with 2 technicians available. I came in for my routine 2 week maintenance and your available technician was on her phone with her feet up. She was asked to take care of me and instead told the front desk receptionist (who is so kind and accommodating) that she didn't want to do it and have the other technician do it... Never will I go back. As a business owner myself, I would be furious if my staff treated a longtime client and resident of the community to be turned away because "she didn't feel like doing it"! read more

The wait was too long. I went for a mani/pedi. They left me with my feet in the watet for 20 mins. The water was cold by the time the lady who did my nails came. When it was time for my manicure the lady put my hands in the water and said someone else will come and do it. I waited 10 minutes. No one came so I paid for the pedicure and left. I'm very picky about my nails and have been several places because I have not been satisfied. From day one Kevin has done an amazing job!!! I came in after directly leaving another because I was unsatisfied. Kevin fixed my whole set of acrylics and polished with gel (getting me hooked!), but only charged me for a polish change. That was great customer service, I've been coming back ever since. The ambiance is wonderful and the environment is very relaxing. The employees are also very friendly: Tommy, Holly, Michelle and Lee have also done very good jobs for me. The pedicures are also very nice, my feet always feel refreshed after, unlike some places where they still feel rough like you didn't even get one. I visited Avalon this afternoon as I needed a fill-in and am in the process of exploring/trying out new nail salons. The folks at Avalon were very nice and polite. They were very courteous and helpful immediately upon entering the shop. I did not have an appointment and while the shop was not very busy, they were all with customers. So I had a short wait. I asked upon arriving if my nails could be completed within a certain amount time as I had another appointment and they accommodated my time crunch. Hana did an awesome job on my nails. The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing. I was really pleased and will be returning. Hopefully, it will continue to leave a lasting impression. If I could give negative stars I would!!! called in advance to make an appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure. I get there and they stick me in a spa chair with a broken remote control and all the people are busy with others. Last I checked the whole purpose of making an appt was to have someone ready when that person arrives?! The guy at the front had a total attitude like he's doing me a favor having my business. I arrived 15 mins before my appt and 30 mins later, which is 15 mins PAST my appt time, I was still sitting there with no one saying a word to me about who's going to be helping me. I went to Avalon Nail Spa for the first time today. I've been looking for a new place to get my nails done. I called around3 and had no problem making a 5:30 appointment. I was greeted immediately by the gentleman behind the desk and half the staff. I waited just as long as it took me to choose a color. I was taken over for my pedicure which was lovely. Their pedicure area is not only relaxing but it is also level with the floor. No platform for those that are concerned about tripping or falling. The pedicure chris are great. Very comfortable massage chair. I could have used a little more force in my massage but I understand not everyone likes that. She started my manicure and we had a conversation with the customer next to me about the SNS Dip. Mid mani I changed my mind and wanted that. My technician Vee Vee never missed a beat and we switched immediately. She did a beautiful job and was very concerned with making me happy. I look forward to my next trip there. This was the absolute worst experience I have had a any nail salon and I go every two weeks. I made an appointment for a pedicure as I was going to be in the area after, this was not my regular establishment. An older gentleman was assigned to me which was no problem at all. I showed him a picture of what I wanted a very seemingly simple toe design on one toe. I asked if he could do it, he said yes. I picked my color based on the picture and proceeded to sit for my experience. He was not confident which was obvious once he began the pedi at the very beginning, he cut my nails VERY unevenly, after I informed him of what length I preferred. He provided no foot massage at all, no parafin wax which came listed as a feature of the pedi and he asked me no less than three times what I wanted by way of design. Each time I showed him my picture, not ONCE did he say he could not do it. When it came time to to do the design, he gets up, does not excuse himself and he running around the shop to every technician in the place for assistance. Mind you, I am sitting there and looking and thinking, "I asked him three times could he do the design," three times he responded affirmatively. No one else assisted him, I believed the design was free hand and they said it was a sticker! Obviously no one free hands in the shop because no one came to help him. In the meantime no one is saying ANYTHING to me, I am sitting there with uneven toes, nail polish I would not have chosen if it were not for the design and an apparently inept technician. Someone finally stated they did not have anything similar to what I wanted!!! I spoke with the manager who ended up charging me full price at $68 for a service I was totally and completely dissatisfied with. He offered no consolation, but to tell me it was partly my fault!!! Knowing the older gentleman had zero skillset and should not be performing services on any customer besides possibly polishing nails with regular polish. It was the absolute poorest example of customer service, I do not recommend this salon as they obviously do not take pride if they allow that gentleman to perform services he is absolutely not qualified to perform. Oh and not to mention he cut me as well!!! Ladies and gentlemen, this review is the short version!!!! Very dissatisfying experience and while I am more than capable of paying for my requested service, it would have been nice if the manager offered some sort of discount, I am 100% sure I am not the first person to complain about that technician who should not at all be working on customers. read more

Definitely a case of "Bait & Switch!" I googled and found this place to do a jelly pedicure and hot stone foot massage for my Mom on her 60th birthday. Well, I requested someone very experienced for my mom and anyone for me. We got whatever they had on staff that early in the morning. Needless to say, the service was horrible!! They acted like they barely wanted to touch us. The massage was the absolute worst ever, we couldn't feel anything, no pressure whatsoever. The cleaning was the fastest we had ever experienced and again very lightly touched during the whole service with their gloves on. The chairs were not the same pedicure chairs on their website and neither is the whole reception area. This is not the business that's all over their website!! They kept claiming they had another location in the same shopping center, ALL LIES!!!!! Beware!! Also, they tried to charge me $55 when the website clearly says $45 for Jelly pedicure they did honor the website price but nothing to say about the website presenting pictures that weren't at their place of business. The worst $90 I ever spent and I always tip but my Mom made sure I didn't leave a dime!!!! Never again!! read more

Tried Avalon today after a bad experience at my long time nail salon. Wanted to find a salon where children were not running around and employees eating and surfing the net. When I go to get my nails done I look for a calm experience. Time to wind down. Avalon delivered. Not only was it clean, calm and inviting.... NO CHILDREN RUNNING AROUND, NO ONE EATING AT THEIR STATIONS!! The business was clean, well taken care of and everyone was very nice. Quan did a wonderful job! I paid a bit more for the services, and for the basic mani/pedi they charge for the salt scrub, my other place did not. But it was worth the trade in for peace and calm. read more

Definitely was not a good experience. I had planned to get a pedi and a gel mani; however, ended up leaving after the pedi. The lady doing my toes cut my toe nails uneven, some were too short others were on a slant and she didn't take her time polishing. She did not take the time to scrub my feet and was very rough to the point of hurting sometimes. Seemed like she was in a rush and no one was in there. The polish was messy and not smooth and not evenly polished. She still could not get it right after 2 tries. By that time I had enough. read more
