DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I will actually pay you not to go to this place. The manager needs to be reported and / or investigated. He is homophobic and can't even speak to his clientele. In addition to awful management, the club was EMPTY! COMPLETELY EMPTY on a Saturday night! The music was OK and the bouncers were actually very nice! You are much better off going to the bar with the mechanical bull or any other place at Mohegan Sun -- much, much more fun and a better crowd! Once again, I want to emphasize that the Manager is homophobic. I have never experienced homophobia until I spoke with him. He kicked me out of the club because he was "uncomfortable serving me". The bouncers said I was wearing shorts and was being a disturbance. If Avalon were to look into the videos, I was sitting at the table (by myself and waiting for my friends), looking at my phone (most likely TikToks) and then even talking to the girls 24th birthday who was sitting next to us (super cool group of friends!). I was also wearing a short-sleeve button down with black jeans and dress shoes. Mind you -- there were other girls sitting at our table who I didn't know and they did not ask them to leave or even come up to them to confirm if they were at the table. If y'all want to party in Connecticut, I will be more than glad to rent out any other place for you because no one should be supporting a place that discriminates against ANYONE.

It's a nightclub in a casino - could be better, could be worse. I've been twice, once years ago as part of a bachelorette party, and most recently for the kickoff event to New London Pride. As far as a Saturday night bachelorette party goes, meh. It's dancing and weak mixed drinks - nothing too exciting. Still, it was a decent venue for Pride - a great crowd, DJ, dancing, and drag show. There are a couple bars so it didn't take long to get a drink, and plenty of casual seating/high tops beyond the bottle service booths. I don't anticipate coming back here any time soon, but it was a good spot for an event kickoff.

Before I begin, I just want to clarify that I am not writing this negative review to be vindictive,…read morebut rather in hopes that Vandome will improve its policies and practices so that people of all abilities, backgrounds, and health statuses can enjoy this establishment. Also, so that those with current disabilities can prepare themselves when going to Vandome. My family and I went to Vandome on Saturday, August 20th looking to have a great time. We were a group of 10. While going through security, a member of our party was stopped during bag check because of her Type 1 Diabetes supplies. Inside of her fanny pack was a glucometer, glucose test strips, insulin syringes, glucose tablets, and a few other essential diabetes items. At first sight, the lady looking through her bag looked at her curiously as our friend began to explain that these items were for her diabetes. Before she could get very far, the security man checking the men's line came right over with a nasty attitude and exclaimed "you have to get rid of all that." She tried to explain that these were for her diabetes and that she could throw out the syringes if those were the problem, but that she needed the other supplies. He didn't care to listen. He just kept dismissing her and telling her she was holding up the line. At one point, he even remarked "I have diabetes too, don't play that shit with me." I can't assume what kind of diabetes this man may have, but judging from his naïveté, it's likely he was referencing Type II diabetes which is COMPLETELY different from Type I and therefore treated differently. People with Type I diabetes need to regularly take insulin to survive and and control their blood sugar because their pancreas can't produce it at all. It is incurable and requires constant checking of blood sugar levels. People with Type II diabetes have more treatment options and may not need as much maintenance because their body already produces some insulin, just not enough. For some people with Type II diabetes, it can even go away with lifestyle changes. I share this because it's clear that if this man truly had/understood diabetes, he would know that our friend needed those supplies to enjoy her night. Instead, he was nasty, didn't let her finish a sentence, and wouldn't even offer alternate accommodations. Ironically, our friend had been to Vandome the week before and the security that night let her keep her bag at the front, which she thought was a totally reasonable accommodation. However, this man wouldn't offer any alternate solution other than saying, "you bring that to that car or you're not coming in." This encounter left my non-confrontational friend near tears and uneasy the rest of the night. What if we didn't have a car? Would we not have been able to enter because of her diabetes? Thankfully, she brought her glucose tablets in, but she was not able to check her blood-sugar throughout the night which made her anxious and resulted in us leaving prematurely. Federal laws prohibit most public places and programs from discriminating against people with diabetes. One should not be excluded because of diabetes or be denied access to their diabetes supplies, and should be provided with reasonable accommodations if necessary. Vandome followed none of these laws that night. If they had let her put her bag at the front like they had the week prior, there would be no problem, but it is clear that Vandome doesn't have consistent procedures for these situations, resulting in a truly unfortunate event where my friend left feeling berated, embarrassed, and discriminated against. Once again, I leave this review so that Vandome's management can reassess their procedures and train ALL their staff on the proper ways to handle these situations. Until then, I encourage all people with diabetes or other disabilities to beware.

The ambiance at Scorpion Bar is nice. The lightening is nice and the decor is cool. My friend ordered a mango mojito and I ordered a virgin mojito which was surprisingly very tasty and refreshing. It did take a while for our food order to be taken. One of the bartenders said she would come back to take our food order after finishing a round of drinks, but then never came back so we had to ask another bartender to take our order after about 10 minutes of waiting. We ordered the nachos with ground beef. Those were pretty good, I liked how cheesy they were. For our main meal, we decided to get two tacos each and the birria quesadilla. The tacos were good! My favorite was the Baja fish taco. It was very flavorful and one of the best fish tacos I've had in CT. I was disappointed in the birria quesadilla. It was just OKAY. It was pretty pricey for just the quesadilla and no sides. I didn't think the meat was seasoned enough. The last item we got was the fried ice cream for dessert. We got it because the bartender said it was a large portion and was pretty good. It was NOT that goood. It was extremely large...like almost too big. The fried dough that covered the ice cream was very sugary and wasn't warm and the ice cream was very plain. I would not recommend. Overall, I think if you are looking for a restaurant at the casino with good ambiance, good drinks and decent food, I would recommend Scorpion Bar.

"Kind of a drag When your baby don't love you"…read more(The Buckinghams) When one of your closest friends invites you to a drag show, you step out of your comfort zone and go! That's what eight of us did today as we headed over to Chez Est for a 90's themed "Brunch in Heels" featuring Loosey Laduca's crew of three singing and dancing drag queens. Loosey was the emcee, had an entertaining patter throughout the show, introduced the performers, and gave a stirring rendition of "the greatest song of the 90's" - My Heart will Go On from Titanic. So what other songs did we hear as the performers danced, did some bone cracking splits, strutted around the stage, and worked the crowd for tips? We heard Lady Marmalade by Li'l Kim, Lose My Breath by Destiny's Child, Let's Get Loud by J Lo, Barbie Girl by Aqua, Groove is in the Heart by Deee-Lite, Donatella by Lady Gaga, and Shoop by Salt-N-Pepa. We even heard a medley of 90's kiddie TV shows including Animaniacs and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The show was very entertaining and included an audience participation segment where birthday boys and girls crashed the stage for a dance-off and a beer chugging competition. Oh, and we also had brunch there -the food menu is very reasonable and ranged from $8 to $12 a plate for eggs, waffles, breakfast tacos and the like. Eight of us ate and drank for $300 including tip. That doesn't include the scores of singles we spent tipping the entertainers. I thought the staff at Chez Est was very accommodating and helped us move and consolidate our two tables so we had a better view of the stage. But even if you sit way in the back, the entertainers strut their stuff throughout the premises to hit every table, and there are a few strategically placed flat screens on the walls showing the stage action. It was quite a fun time.
