Read through all the reviews and decided to give it a try. From start to finish it was a very pleasant experience. Shea was my stylist along with Hailey who stepped in to help. Together those young women did a great job on the color. Shea also gave me the best head massage, I almost fell asleep. Both instructors were so friendly and helpful, stepping in to give advice or instructions. I walked out with the most perfect haircut and color and will definitely be back. read more

Great service. Lots offered there, staff was nice. The teacher did rush the student who was doing my facial which I thought was rude especially since she wasn't being nice about it. But other than that all was good and I'll be back read more

My cousin went to the Phoenix location, and the teachers were not supportive AT ALL. They didn't let her ask questions and made her feel like a burden. The director Courtney doesn't seem to be very supportive of her students. read more

Julia did an amazing job of highlighting my hair and kept me informed of the process each step of the way! It was nice that she had some help from another student who also did a great job. It was nice to see how they supported each other. I appreciate that Whittney was such a hands on supervisor as she juggled all of the students with a smile on her face and with professionalism. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying the other modalities as well. read more

I went in there looking like a hot mess and Sydney, her instructors, Ms Whitney and Ms Alicia helped me leave feeling like a million dollars. They were helpful in choosing a plan of action and the results were fabulous! EXTREMELY HAPPY with the results read more

Linley did a great job and was personable and sweet . I was the last one in the salon and you could tell her instructors also loved her and wanted to help her. I love my blond new hair. She really color matched exactly how I wanted and toned it perfectly and was so patient! Salon itself is clean and functions well considering they only have 2 instructors (at least the day I was there ) read more

Great job by student Felicity. Definitely booking appointments with student for all my hair and coloring needs. read more

My experience with the student I had was 10/10 and had nothing to do with her and everything to do with the woman at the front desk with bangs. Very unkind, dismissive and rude. I was overcharged for their misunderstanding. As a place profiting off a student's free labor there is really no need for poor attitude because you overcharged me. Course correct and price accordingly. She really needs to learn better customer service. Most people are very good at reading faces and tone and hers was terrible. I expect a resolution. read more

Betsy my hair stylist was great! She was very friendly and knowledgeable with my hair cut. She made me feel comfortable and gave me the best head massage while washing my hair. I will definitely come back to Betsy again! read more

Avalon-Phoenix atmosphere is uncanny. As a consumer, it is distasteful to hear instructors and staff discuss the students in a unflattering manner. And to do so in my presence is bold, as well as, unprofessional and unsettling. I would like to think this campus is inclusive, however, after what I have witness and reviewing the school's website, culture and inclusivity seems to lack in their definition. WILL NOT RETURN. read more

I had a wonderful experience today with a student who's also a perfectionist!! I'll be back for sure

A genuinely kind, empathetic and caring person, stylist Arthur Z immediately struck me as a very genuine human being, which immediately put me at ease, as this was my first time at Avalon. Arthur sincerely listened as I explained to him the new look that I desired, and he actively studied the reference photo that I'd brought in on my phone showing what I wanted my new haircut to look like. Arthur then sought out his Avalon coach for a quick professional consult to make sure that he was indeed going to be approaching my haircut with the right techniques, and then he got down to business and gave me EXACTLY the haircut I wanted! He even finished with product recommendations and a final shampoo and blow dry to ensure that I'd be able to replicate my salon look at home during the month ahead. For an amiable stylist whose people skills match his technical skills, I can honestly say that Arthur Z indeed has "the right stuff," and I can confidently recommend him to anyone looking for hair services that are worth one's time and money. Arthur's got everything it takes to work in an established salon looking to add a talented young stylist to their team. I--for one--was very impressed and highly satisfied with the work done on my hair yesterday by Arthur Z! read more

Worst experience ever i walked out with half my hair dyed. I'm not joking the back of my head is still the color i came in with. I want to cry. I don't have the funds rn to go get my hair done and I was told to go there. I understand they take forever because everyone is a student thats fine but they fully did not dye the back of my head. I was beyond kind which I shouldn't have been because even my bangs are 2 different colors. I look like a fucking moron. I will never ever go back. Lesson learned hair is something worth saving ur money for not amateurs wanting to play dress up. I would add a pic but im literally devastated and way too embarrassed to ever have my ugly ass hair online ‍ read more

TERRIBLE!!! Take your 12k elsewhere!!! Avoid this school at all costs! I paid 12k for an "expedited" Esthetician course at Avalon in Phoenix that was horrible. The biggest problem with this school is communication! Corporate doesnt communicate w the school and its employees, and the employees at the school do NOT communicate w each other or the students! If they do communicate its with each other and they are gossiping about the other teachers or the students, but hey students!!!! dont you gossip!!! It starts when you walk in for the "tour". I was told that we would have "LIFETIME JOB PLACEMENT". WRONG!!! they basically leave you to fend for yourself after you complete your hours. The salespeople haven't told Career Services that they are lying to everyone walking in that door. I cant even tell you half of what went on. Cleaning. We had to clean our bathrooms, hallways and classrooms. I understand about cleanliness esp disinfection w being an esthetician, but be prepared to be a janitor while you pay to go there! The teachers were nice but some were LAZY. Delegating. Student teachers looking for respect when they dont even know what it means. LOL. The Spa. I purposely didnt want to bring or invite anyone I knew there. Its filthy! The sheets are stained and have old hair on them. The gowns they give you to wear during services are outstretched and stained and embarrassing. The towels used are stained and bleached- thank God no one sees what you put on clients faces! Embarrassing. Everything they say or do are lies. I wish I had taken b\my 12k to another school! I now have to find a job that doesnt exist and on my own and pay back the 12k that was of no use to me! AVOID!!!!! read more

Alexis is so wonderful. I cannot express how happy I am to have found her. It was like visiting with a dear friend- she is funny and sweet. She knew exactly what I wanted and did an awesome job. Also I love that a bad@$$ like Michelle is teaching at this location. Let's be real- Miss Michelle with her skills and experience could be making BIG BUCKS honey working in her own salon. But the fact that she made a choice to teach and share her wonderful knowledge [that one can only get from real life experience] is mind blowing. These two ar precious gems and I consider myself oh so lucky to have found them. Great job. I loved everything about this visit and I could not say more great things about this spectacular duo of hair goddesses. Yes queens! Empowered women EMPOWER women. read more

Would not recommend the aesthetics program unless you arrive with a complete knowledge of aesthetics. Only go here if you can afford to pay in full, otherwise you cannot get your license. Imagine a doctor having to pay his loans before being able to provide care, he'd start at age 50 or never. You have to remind the staff to do their jobs. I finished in October, just received my awards for top sales of retail and services, didn't even know I was awarded them. Which also tells me the retail I sold wasn't applied to my discount for my license. Disorganized, discouraging and disappointing when people arrive filed with passion to attend. As you can see in the first photo, graduation is held at the time clock. Yay $12k! read more

3rd time there. Takes a little longer than "regular" haircut, but primarily because so attention to making sure is exactly what I want

I have had my hair highlighted here several times and have been very happy. This last visit I went another way and was unsure what color to do my roots. But with the help of Michelle (one of the instructors) she came up with the perfect color. I am very happy. read more

I had a major issue with my hair. It's long and was matted. The instructor Miss Dina and her student Kiya did an absolute amazing job giving me a whole new look. Unfortunately I had to cut most of my hair leaving it longer in front and extremely short in the back. I don't like short hair but they made me feel beautiful. Thank you to both. My family and I have appointments to return for additional services. I give them and whole institution 5 stars. read more

I wish I could leave one star. How horrible this place was they fried my hair. And the guy that did my hair was about 19 years old and I found out that I was the first person that he ever did highlights on. He told me this mid styling. Wow, and the instructors came over and kissed his ass because I think they had a crush on him these older ladies it was unbearably horrible. I lost my hair and my hair is fried.!!' read more

Horrible! I had a blonde hair, i asked for a blonde color, and I got a dark hair. I spent there 5 hours because girl who was doing my hair was searching and bringing her teacher every second. The teacher saw my inspiration picture, told her exactly what colors to use and at the end I had completely dark color! When I complained I got not even single sorry. They called their colorist and all were telling me that they did everything good! That they HAD to level tone I had and that to get blonde from picture would take more then one time!!! WHAT?? Are you telling me that to be blonde first I should be colored dark?? Unprofessional, rude! You ruined my hair and then additionally telling me that it's all OK?! And yes, I had to pay too! Ruined hair, waste of time and money! I would not recommend do your hair or even study at this school. read more

Avalon is such a great school. I've gone to other schools for a few years and Avalon is by far the best. They use the best products, it's clean and open. The students are learning but the teachers are passionate in helping them succeed. Especially Michelle. I was so impressed listening to her work with her students. She sets them up to succeed. She gave my stylist, Tamerlin, everything bit of encouragement and support. You can tell Michelle loves her students and wants them to achieve every possible dream they have. As for Tamerlin, cosmetology might be her gift. She's incredible. She knew exactly what I wanted and worked her magic to deliver. She's fun, but does her best, which is pretty incredible. I'll be going back. read more

I went to get my hair highlighted and the roots were quite grown out. Sydney was my hairdresser and she literally spent all day on my hair. She took her time to make sure it came out right. She was super friendly as well as her instructor. She made sure I felt comfortable with everything. The end result came out amazing. She did a wonderful job! Thank you Sydney! I was a little disappointed I didn't get to have a haircut after all the processing of my hair because they were closing. But, I was completely happy with the highlights. Oh my goshhhh!!! Ashley Rodriguez at the PHX location did amazing! She made all my dreams come true and honestly I didn't even know what I truly wanted and she did amazing. She worked with me the entire time, talking me through everything and making sure I was happy. I gave her the directions that I wanted something that "gave my hair life, dimension and volume. Just no blue or purple." She recommended copper and let me chose which one I wanted. Instructor Gigi was amazing too and willing to help at any point for any girl. I truly trusted Ashley and Gigi. Great service and quality, Angie always does a great job in color retouch and blowout!

Twice I was lied to about who would be doing my hair. Normally I wouldn't care who does my hair if I'm doing a cut or a simple root touchup or a simple color. But when I'm trying to chop 46 inches off my hair and trying to do a complicated color, I specifically requested somebody who has been in training for Sometime. The first time my hair came out looking weird and it took me from September till now ( June) to grow my hair back out. This last time, I once again specifically requested somebody who has been in training for a while, and is close to the end to do my hair. The day before when they called to confirm the appointment, ice specifically asked again if the person doing my hair would be somebody who is close to graduation, I was reassured yes. When I got there, the girl looked a little confused and stressed about cutting my hair. I asked her how long she had been doing this and when I found out it had just been a few months I was incredibly upset, since this was the second time, I have been lied to the instructor was incredibly rude and disrespectful towards me. When I explained the situation to her she said she wouldn't hear of it and to get out I've had zero apology and was treated like a second class citizen, and that I was worth nothing i was no different than some manikins. They could chop up and treat like a piece of crap. read more
