Honestly not a bad hotel, but the area around Gard Du Nord is a double edged sword. You are right in front to he busiest train station that will take you anywhere, but it's a seedy and not a good part of town. I don't recommend walking around with children or being a single female walking around these parts. With the Yellow Vest Movement, the entire Paris has felt unrestful, a bit more dangerous, and pickpockets have gone up, and the city feels violent.
Food options right across from the Gare are great for late night food. Try the Falafel and crepes- cheapest you'll find in Paris (1.3 E for a normal sweet crepe) and 8$ for a massive plate of shawarma or falafel.
Hotel itself: friendly staff. They speak pretty good English, so I highly recommend this place over Timhotel (small, noisy, old, decrepit, and can't speak English). You can hold luggage in a room in case you had to do traveling before you leave permanently.
Amenities: hot water/coffee at the lobby for those who love a hot drink after a cold winter day like myself. Post cards in front for free. Breakfast available for 11-15 E. Rooms are pretty good- not all sockets work and not all charge ports work, but the rooms don't feel too cramped/too old or decrepit. Beds are comfortable and clean- no sticky feeling/itchy. Closets have hangers but can't take hangers out. Provide ear plugs, soaps. Flat screen 36 inch TV with a decent variety fo channels- their music channels were good.
Small table to do some work, but you may as well go downstairs to their lounge area. WIFI is kinda weak- you can text/email but if you're trying to get onto larger portals/send photos to people or require a stronger connection, forget it. read more
