Worst experience ever! I took a brand new dress in for alterations and cleaning almost a month ago. Initially, they told me it would be ready in two weeks. However, on the day I was supposed to pick it up, they called to inform me that their tailor had been dealing with family issues and hadn't shown up to work in two weeks. They said they had sent his work to other stores to get it done. They asked me to confirm what needed to be done and told me to pick it up the next day (Wednesday). I went on Friday instead, only to be told that the tailor at the other store couldn't do the alterations because there wasn't enough fabric to complete the work. The dress wasn't even at the store, and they told me to return on Monday. When I showed up on Monday, the manager spoke with me directly and explained that the dress had been cleaned, so they removed the tags. However, they hadn't done the alterations, and the dress was still at the other store. After about 20 minutes of taking no responsibility and offering no solutions, we agreed that he would contact George (their tailor, who is great at what he does) and even personally deliver the dress to him if needed. He promised to call me by the end of the day to confirm when I could pick it up. Of course, he never called. So I went back again today. When I arrived, they simply handed me the dress -- no alterations, not cleaned, and with the tags removed. I asked to speak to the manager, who tried to downplay the situation and told me there was nothing they could do. He gave me the contact information for a lady who could do the work and have it ready the next day. However, when I went to her, she tried to charge me three times what they had originally quoted for the alterations. In conclusion: They left me with a dress I can neither wear nor return. read more

It's been too many instances where they don't have the items completed on time. My son's shirt not being ready by prom day is unacceptable, and the cashier commenting "oh, but it will be ready by Monday" is not helpful. The dress shirt was specifically purchased for prom and just needed to be pressed. Glad I didn't take my son's suit there -- disaster averted. $20 per pair of pants to take 1 inch off the hem and press.I had two pair done for total of $40 plus tax. There was no trying to pants on and measuring to see how much should be taken off. I just told them to take 1 inch off. Thus if measurement is required it would probably be even more expensive. My normal alteration person charges $11 per pair of pants. The customer service here is great! And they are so orderly here. They take in comforters, and do alterations! So it's basically a one stop shop. You can check online to see if your items are done which is very convenient . The guy working the front even helped me bring my dry cleaning to my car . I really enjoyed the service. My clothes looked great! They even give 20 percent off to new customers. The only think is they are a bit pricy, so I probably won't go to them often. read more

I am extremely particular about certain garments and the way they are laundered. I've never had a request that delivered a less than superb result. My dry cleaning is always perfect. Even other members of my household love the results. As for my dress shirts, they are starched and pressed (not over-starched), and have no tiny little wrinkles like the way other budget dry cleaners leave shirts. I've been using Avalon since I moved to the area, and have found no one better. No broken buttons or damages. Keep up the good work! The customer service is also excellent. They have an app, which streamlines everything you could need to know. When it comes to favorite pieces, be specific, and they will even advise you. You definitely get what you pay for. read more

I'd like to start off by saying the ladies who work the desk are incredibly helpful and sweet. But the tailor and manager are awful at what they do. We took my husbands brand new Ralph Lauren suit in for tailoring as it just needed taken up at the legs and slightly taken in at the lower back. This suit is for a funeral of a family member we have to fly to the UK for. We went to pick up on a Friday- when he said it would be ready- and try it on only to find he's taken way too much in on the jacket. The jacket he was only suppose to take in on the lower back, is now too small on his arms, and shoulders and my husband can't even bend his arms or move them in front of his chest. They ruined a $300 jacket and as the tailor wasn't in he wouldn't pay for a replacement as we don't even have time to wait for him to fix it as he won't be back in until Monday. The manager said it's the tailors responsibility not his and seemed as though he wouldn't take responsibility for his own employees actions. He then proceeded to talk over me the whole time we were on the phone and claimed his tailor, George, is a designer and can make my husband a new suit, to which I replied that I don't want a new suit by his tailor George when I bought a beautiful Ralph Lauren suit! We will NEVER be back and we hope none of you return either as this has cost us more money than it should as we now need to take it elsewhere for a full alteration on the jacket to loosen the biceps and the shoulders instead of a simple take in of the lower back like it originally was. This was a HORRIBLE experience and I hope you learn from our mistake of trusting this company. I am devastated. read more

Don't use this dry cleaning business!! They are nice and kind as long as you allow them to ruin your clothes and not expect to be compensated. They shrunk my linen pants and asked me what do I want them to do about it....  when I said I want to be compensated, I was told that they no longer wanted to do business with me! Really dude!  Did you see me with a arm full of clothes to be dropped off? Heck no! The guys here are awesome. They pick and drop off my dry clean for no extra charge. They are cheaper then the one across the street. I had the worst experience with this cleaners. Don't usually write reviews but I don't want anyone else to go through the same thing. I had 20+ items cleaned after calling to ask for prices it went up after arriving. Two of the blouses were intentionally not cleaned due to buttons but no one called me to notify me that they were not going to clean them prior to needing them. Also I was then charged for those items which were not cleaned. I requested to speak with the owner and he said call and let them know when and I called ahead to let them know and when i arrived the manager had not been notified and was nit present. I was asked to go to another store location to explain it all over again. In addition, buttons were removed prior to dry cleaning to protect them but they chose not to sew them back on. This was all done prior to an important trip where I needed these items. I was informed that removing buttons and leaving them in a bag is their standard pratice. read more

I needed alterations made to a wedding dress in a quick turn around. I had tried everywhere in town, but no one was interested in accommodating me. I made the 50 mile trip out to Katy and met with George. He was very kind and assured me he could take care of it. I went back three days later for a fitting after he had pinned everything in place. I gave them my approval to continue the work. I was able to pick it up the next week. It was altered just as I expected, pressed and hung in a wedding gown bag on a special hanger. I was impressed with the special customer service, especially since they knew I won't be a steady repeat customer because of the distance. But if I have a special alteration, I will definitely make that trip to Avalon Cleaners. read more

NEVER use this cleaner. In addition to being incompetent they are dishonest. They lost a dress shirt that belongs to my 13 year old son. They started by telling me it was being cleaned and to "come back tmrw". I came back the next day and they still couldn't find It. Manager said "hi buy another shirt and I will pay for it, just bring in receipt". As he had a school event where he needed a shirt and tie and he never wears it but for school I was hesitant but bought another one. Took him the receipt and he said "come back in a day or two and the check will be waiting". Dropped clothes off on 3/21, requesting asap the next day. I was not advised a fee was going to be applied for a rush. Wound up being $10.73. When I questioned this I was told it was my responsibility to ask. Why would I ask, they don't charge a fee for same day service, why would I expect a fee for next day service. Overall, they have always done a nice service except one time when they made the decision to launder half the shirts I brought in, including one of my Robert Graham shirts. This issue with the fee really irritated me and I will never return. I dry clean 16-20 items a month, but will never patron Avalon again. read more

I'm so upset my daughters wedding dress needed a few alterations we were told by the owner tell the tailor you need it in a week we did well the tailor sets his own hours didn't have the dress done when we were told and it was filthy you could see where he didn't wash his hands and touched the dress then they argued with us about it we had pictures of what it looked like before he got it then they wanted to charges us $200 and said it would take a month to dry clean on top of the $195 for the alterations. read more

I opted to give the cleaner a try as there are so few cleaners that will launder and fold men's shirts (a must for a business traveler in my opinion). Initially, I was very happy with their service and admittedly, their work. Where I ran into trouble was with escalating costs seemingly at the whim of whomever was at the counter. Most recently, I was told that I would need to pay an additional $.25 per shirt if I wanted same day service (which had been their standard) as I wanted them folded (already at an additional $1.00 per shirt). I challenged the charge as I had not run into that before and the ticket indicated that the shirts would be ready the same day. Ultimately, they acquiesced "just this time". When I returned, I was told by the same attendant that "if I hadn't have come back that day, she was going to charge me" for the same day service. I mentioned that I felt they were already a bit expensive and she became indignant, proceeding to lecture me on how she had "17 years of experience" in the industry and how less expensive are cleaners are more likely to use chemicals that "give people cancer". While I'm happy for the unsolicited PSA, what I felt unnecessary was her level of condescension. Thus, I'll offer my PSA - there is no shortage of cleaners in and around the Cinco Ranch and Grand Lakes area and alienating clients (even those who quibble over a quarter) is no way to retain said clients. And this client is off to the next cleaner - perhaps one where they understand that you don't strike smug tones with the paying public. read more

Save yourself some time and skip this place. How Avalon stays in business will be a mystery to me. I setup weekly pickup, and not once in 5 weeks did they come on the scheduled day. I was forced to call them every week to get them to come by. One would think that after a week or two they would fix the problem, but they still don't come as scheduled. When I call the morning after my scheduled date, no one one is available to speak until after 10am. Save yourself a headache and use someone else. read more

I only gave them one star because it wouldn't let me go lower! NEVER use this dry cleaner. I dropped off several suits and dress shirts on Thursday and confirmed with the lady that I wanted "same day service". I came back right before closing and she said she "forgot" to put them in the correct bin. She stated that she would have the ordered "rushed" so that they would be available by 11 AM the next day (I had a work event on Friday evening and a funeral Saturday morning). My wife tried to pick up my clothes at 11 AM on Friday, as promised, and it still was not done! Finally, around 3 PM they call my wife and ask what she "urgently" needs as the order still isn't done! They delivered, and tried to charge us for delivery, a jacket that I need for that evening. I personally went up there Saturday morning, prior to the funeral, and they couldn't find the rest of my order. I sat there and sat there while they looked through their racks. They were able to find a shirt (still missing a suit and three other shirts). It is now Monday, and they still don't know what happened to my clothes! read more
