Yesterday was the first time I had actually met or heard of Ava and Frank, They were brought to my home to help with a party I hosted for my son's friend's Birthday Celebration. Today I am in awe of how they orchestrated not only the cleaning of the house but Frank was at the grill cooking, in the kitchen making salads, cutting up cheese, veggies etc. I had to pinch myself. If I didn't know that I was hosting a party for a group of 24-26 year friends of my son's, I would have thought I was having a Black Tie event for my richest associates. Frank and Ava showed up in Tux and Black Tie event attire in spite of this party being a Malibu Pool Party. Actually they were the HIT of the party. They were serving hors d'oeuvres at the hot tub to the guests. Now doesn't that sound like a she she event Who Knew?? I had to beg them to stop cleaning and picking up after everyone when it was 11:30pm and they had already been here since 1:30 in the afternoon. It seems like they had no problem staying the distance even if that meant staying until 4 am. There must have been 100 guests at the party and when I awoke this morning you would never know I had hosted a party. Except for all the trash bags.......at the curb no less!!, If not for that, there was no sign of the party having ever taken place. NOW THIS IS THE SERVICE I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR ALL MY LIFE. I haven't thrown a party for over 4 years because the last one took me 5 days to recover from. I was finding cups and cigarette butts all over my yard and I vowed I would never have another party. I did not anticipate this many people showing up and quite frankly had it not been for Ava and Frank I would be right back where I was 4 years ago vowing to never have another one. Instead I am excited to know that any future event I ever have will First be planned around their availability. read more

The guys at Ava Maids have been cleaning our home and my place of business for over 10 years, and they worked for my father before that. They are truly amazing people, and the work that they do is thorough. The price is incredibly reasonable, and in all my life (both in my personal life and in my business) I have rarely come across two people that are as dedicated to their work and as genuinely kind as Frank and Ava. They have helped us out with a lot of little handyman jobs, in addition to cleaning. They have dogsat and housesat for me. They really are jacks of all trades, so to speak, and I wouldn't trust my home or my dogs to anyone else. They're a little eccentric, but I think that adds to the charm. ;) read more

I'm writing this review because, frankly, i am disturbed by the negative feedback left by d.t. and just wanted to reiterate what the rest of the yelpers have said and continue to say about Ava maid service; they are the bomb. They clean our apartment unlike any maid I have ever hired, leave the space spotless, and, unlike the majority of maids services I have used, are mindful of your personal belongings. You really don't have to look for anything after they've come through. read more

Frank and Ava are like your surrogate parents in Los Angeles. No matter how old we are, sometimes we just want someone to take care of us. Frank and Ava will do that. You will feel genuinely cared after, and not for profit either. I've only paid them to clean my house once, but they've been back of their own accord several times in the last two months, fixing small things around the house for me because they truly care about making your life run smoothly. This is why: 1. The cleaning job was very well done, I felt like I came home to a new place. 2. I had a table that needed fixing. After the first time they came, Frank called me asking when he could stop by to fix the table. He said that he couldn't sleep at night because he was thinking about fixing my table, and he wanted to get it done! 3. The first time they cleaned my place, Frank called me saying that he had picked up a bulb for the refrigerator light (which had burned out). I didn't ask them to do it, but he got it for me because he noticed it and wanted to fix it. If it weren't for Frank and Ava, my refrigerator would have been doomed to lie in darkness for the rest of my lease. 4. Another time a piece of furniture needed extra parts. Without me asking, Frank would go on his own time to the hardware store to pick up these parts, because it was on his mind. So if you're someone who doesn't have your act together, or you don't have time to clean, or broken things in your house don't really stand a chance of being fixed by you - call on Frank and Ava's cleaning service. They don't operate like a faceless corporation - you will get genuine caring people trying to make your house a better place to live. read more

The review by 'dawn t' compels me to also add my 2c. Ava Maid Service has cleaned my house weekly for around a year and I've been extremely happy, just like every other reviewer of their service (except for 'dawn t'). Please note that everyone else has rated them 5 star (as of this writing) and they've often had their services for many years on end. The review by 'dawn t' is clearly a hit job. How can this person give only one star to Ava Maid Service if they've been happy enough to engage the services "at least 10 times" and "the first time they came to clean, they did an excellent job"? The only real complaint they have - as far as I can see - is that Frank talks too much. Frank explained to me that they unfortunately had to cancel further visits to this customer. The customer clearly was unhappy with this and decided to take a shot at Frank and Eva's livelihood by posting this clearly over the top review. I'm very sad about this because Eva and Frank are extremely conscientious, decent and friendly people and they don't deserve to be treated like this. I don't want to even think about what would compel 'dawn t' to try to deliver such a low blow. read more

since i've posted my review, one person has contacted me by personal message and kim s. has taken issue with my review. i understand that some people love frank and ava. i understand that they have worked for many people for years and years and frankly, your reviews are why we hired them in the first place. in my review, i clearly state that some people may love frank and ava. i don't doubt that some people would. they just were not for us. i appreciate everyone's opinion and reviews and i would expect the same from fellow yelpers. the whole point of yelp is to give honest customer reviews. that is precisely what i was doing when i reviewed ava maid services. this was NOT a hit job. we hired frank and ava repeatedly and were consistently dissatisfied... but because we are loyal customers, we continued to hire them and hoped that things would improve. instead things became increasingly more troublesome. frank did not cancel further visits with us. he told us that he could not come unless he could bring 4 people. that was unacceptable to us. he said, " i cancel." when we told him that we would only like he and ava to come clean. it is not unreasonable to make requests from someone who is providing a service. when we first hired frank and ava, it was just the two of them. like i said, the first time they did an excellent job. after that it went straight downhill. he hired a new person to clean with them and just showed up with that person. given a very sensitive situation with our family, frank and ava should have known to ask before having someone join them. there were many many more instances where we were very unhappy with frank and ava which i did not share, mainly because it is unnecessary. i am NOT trying to smear them or their business on here. i do not think they acted maliciously. I am not acting maliciously. I am only giving an honest review. the ironic thing here is frank was constantly after us to give him a review on yelp or on angie's list. he badgered us with it every single time he was at the house. i was waiting to review them because i didn't want to give them a bad review. we gave them what we thought was constructive criticism and more than ample time to improve. instead, things only got worse. ultimately, people will make up their own minds about frank and ava. this was just our honest experience with them and unfortunately, it wasn't good. i would not recommend frank and ava. read more

My husband set up an appointment for cleaning service the following week - about 5 days in advance. I then called the number above to re-schedule to an earlier day, and I spoke with a girl Christina. First, I have to begin this review by saying I have not had any interaction with Frank or Ava. Only this girl Christina who apparently works for them. I am absolutely amazed and stunned at how incredibly unprofessional Christina was! When I asked "is this Ava Maid Service?" she was very abrupt and said in a very teenager bubble gum chewing attitude/tone of voice "yeah it is." That kind of caught me off guard. I thought -- ok, this girl must be their daughter or something so I understand some rudeness and attitude. Anyways, then I said "My husband has scheduled a cleaning on Tuesday and I would like to reschedule earlier" and before I could finish my sentence (I was going to say I would like to reschedule earlier in the WEEK -- so as to not confuse her by thinking earlier in the DAY" -- Christina had already interruptted me mid-sentence before I could finish, and she said "I'll get back to you" -- and she hung up the phone before I could finish my sentence. She didn't even take down my phone number - how can she get back to me? I thought ok, maybe bad reception or bad connection. So I called back -- no answer. I called back about 10 minutes later, and she picked up the phone and I said you may have misunderstood me, because you hung up before I could finish my words. I said "I would like to schedule earlier in the week," and she said that Frnk and Ava are completely booked. When I asked her was there a reason why she hung up the phone on me before I finished my sentence -- SHE HUNG UP ON ME AGAIN! wow! So then I was thinking, okay this girl is INTENTIONALLY hanging up the phone on me. So I called back, and she answered by saying "you are so rude, don't ever call us again." Don't worry, I won't. Obviously this woman Christina does not care about Frank and Ava's business. read more
