After confirming that the design was not ideal, he gave a detailed and very reasonable cost to fix it. He even coordinated with another contractor friend to take out and reinstall part of our patio so he could run a larger water line. This is a family business and they specialize in servicing sprinkler systems only (ie no new installs). I needed my sprinkler systems serviced due to a specific problem I was having. They seemed hell bent on replacing the valves in my sprinkler system, with each one being costly. They didn't actually diagnose the problem, but simply told me that replacing valves would fix. Three replaced valves and problem wasn't fixed. They were also eager upsell and charge me ~$200 for a 15 min labor and $50 part to optimize the flow of water through one region. Overall I felt the service was not good quality, rested on upselling services at ridiculous prices, and questionably transparency.

To refer to this person as rude is an understatement. The person would simply hang up the phone is they didn't like what you asked them. This became the norm. And when you could actually converse with this person, they were rude and dismissive. Most of the time, they would ignore your call and let it go to voicemail. And then not call you back. Keep in mind, we just wanted someone to open, close and maintain the system. Our questions were simply like "When can you come out and turn on the system?" That's it. We then got a letter telling us that they would no longer be servicing our area. All the positive reviews here? I agree with them 100%. But they are all several years old.
