We had an old, broken-down concrete patio (450 sqft) that was sloping toward the house and was…read morecracking significantly in several areas. We initially were going to replace the patio with a new concrete slab, but decided to spend a bit more (about 30% more) to have Unilock bricks that look a lot better and will hopefully have better durability over time. In reviewing a number of different companies, Old World Brick Paving is a bit more expensive than other brick pavers. The difference in cost is because OWBP does pride themselves on quality and going beyond the minimum requirements for Unilock paving. We decided on OWBP because we felt that the higher cost (about 10% more than other quotes) would be worth the higher quality and (hopefully) longer durability of the patio. We worked with Greg to obtain a quote and select the brick style for our patio. He was always responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. After getting our permit from the city, OWBP was able to schedule us within about a week, and the entire patio was done after three work days. The workers did an outstanding job -- they were polite, kept the area clean, and the quality of their work was outstanding. I would highly recommend OWBP for Unilock pavers and will be using them in the future for any new projects!

Our building is the largest condo building in Oak Park, and it was built not quite 100 years ago. All brick and terra cotta, so one can imagine the restoration that needed to be done. Robert Reese may just be the most knowledgeable brick guy in the U.S., and no one takes brick and stone restoration more serious than he does. Add to this his experienced crew of workers, who are also experts in the field of brick and stone restoration, not to mention extremely courteous and down right friendly, and you have the best masonry company in all of Chicagoland. They were under contract to spot tuck-point an entire wall but instead they only did the top of the wall and then claimed that the work was completed. When confronted about the rest of the wall, they repeatedly lied saying they did the entire wall and said that I was seeing shadows. Only after producing photos (I attached a few photos) of gaping holes did they grudgingly get back on the wall to complete the job. They said "ugh, I guess we missed a few spots" Unless you plan on babysitting them throughout the project, I do not recommend them.

Bruno construction was contracted and paid $10,000 to provide spot tuckpointing on the front façade…read moreof the building due to efflorescence in spots and around the top of the building. They did some spot tuckpoint work at the top of the building but then used a vinegar spray to make it appear they had completed tuckpointing on the areas showing effervescence. The effervescence returned since they had not fixed any cracks in the mortar in those within a few months. We tried to work this out with them, but had to file a complaint with the better business bureau and now considering small claims court against them. I notice a review by Matty C on 8-3-20 that reports the same issue we had with them claiming to have done work and arguing with us despite the evidence of the building looking the exact same before and after.
