So first I want to say this is an adorable boutique in Pacifica... great ambiance and just a wonderful vibe. Next, I have to say Jordan is AMAZING!! I found AV H&M right before the craziness and COVID lockdown (thank goodness!) and after living in the Bay Area for 3 years, I felt like I had finally found my girl! ... and I did I went in last week once restrictions had eased and left a new person! She is so talented and a great conversationalist... it's like going to see a friend, who just happens to do incredible hair Just look at those before and after pics!! read more

I have been going to AV for about 3 months now and I've received nothing but awesome service. Jordan is a sweetheart and is the best when it comes to communication and hospitality, aside from her amazing hair work. She definitely works with what her clients want and makes it happen to the best of her ability. The other estheticians I've seen are also really friendly and great, although, I've only seen Jordan since she works with fashion color. Photos attached is my hair right after our session. read more

Angelena has been my trusted hairstylist for years. She helped me keep my hair looking presentable during the awkward grow out phase of my pixie cut, and gave my hair trims on my journey to long hair. She also helped me overcome some scalp issues, all while maintaining a professional manner and taking care to keep the conversation quiet as to not embarrass me in front of other clients. She is very easy to approach and will give you a great haircut. The studio is small but it is very well maintained. It is always clean, the decor is beautiful, and the salon chairs are comfortable. During my most recent appointment with Angelena, there were some COVID-19 measures put in place. I was told to come in with my hair washed and dried, and was temperature checked at the door. I was given a dry haircut, which still came out looking great. Overall I would highly recommend this salon, especially Angelena! read more

Heard about this salon through a mutual friend and I also needed somewhere close to home. Kayla is AMAZING!! I have thick hair and Kayla was able to give me style and also take the bulk that was weighing my hair down. Oh la, la, I feel like a new woman!! I now have a go to spot in Pacifica that won't break the bank. Thank you Kayla!! Xoxo, you are the best!! read more

I have been getting my hair cut & styled by Daniella since they opened. She is so knowledgeable, professional, skilled and consistent. Her calm and pleasant attitude tops off what should be a relaxing visit to the salon. Her sister Raquel recently joined the team and expanded to offer esthetician services. So far I've had 2 services done by her. Micro blading on my what was almost non existent brows. I am extremely happy with the outcome! Her facials are outstanding, relaxing and cleared up some stubborn acne in just one session! Note- the after picture is about 5 days after session and still healing but really shows her skill. read more

Raquel is amazing for eyelash extensions. I have been going to her for over a year now and she's the BEST by far in my experience. My lashes last up to 3-4 weeks and still look pretty full. She has true artistic skills and knows how to mix and match the different lash lengths to give a natural, yet full volume fanned look. I'm so glad I found her! 5 stars all around! Oh, and Raquel has excellent taste in music! read more

Angelina took such good care of my hair. She knew I was nervous about cutting it after growing it long but she didn't cut too much off and she told me how to take good care of my dry hair. She cut just enough layers and thinned it making me feel 10 years younger! I'd highly recommend her to anyone. read more

I'm new to Pacifica and happened upon AV when I was out on a walk and in need of a hairstylist. I walked in and met Kayla about a year ago and have not left ever since! From a Brazilian to whatever my needs are, this girl is amazing! Not only is she super talented but down to earth, friendly, professional and always accommodating to my schedule! I've only gone to Kayla and highly recommend her! read more

I used to get my hair done for many years in San Carlos because that is where I used to live. I had a great salon there. I moved to the coast and I tried to stick it out with my San Carlos hairstylist but it was too far to make any sense of my traveling all the way there. I went to another stylist in Burlingame. No bueno. Somehow, with a lot of online searching I found AV Hair & Makeup. So here I am - I tried AV Hair & Makeup in Pacifica, my hometown - and I am happy to report, five stars all the way. I booked online. I went in today and met Daniela. Five stars like I said earlier. Daniela was friendly, personable and warm. And she was so knowledgable when it came to my hair! I hadn't found anyone who intuitively knew my hair like my previous stylist, and Daniela - on our very first visit knew the ins and outs of my hair! She colored and styled my hair exactly as I like and I am SO happy! Not only this but the salon itself is beautiful, with crystal chandeliers and vintage style stations. They offer coffee or other beverages while you get your hair done. All in all - I would recommend this salon to anyone! I can't wait to return. And I am so pleased with my hair color and cut. I look forward to making this sweet little neighborhood salon my go-to place for my hair. I hope you do too! Yay AV Hair & Makeup! read more

Came in before the holidays super nervous. I've gone to so many hair salons to get an ideal silver and every time I've left disappointed, but FINALLY, not this time! She spent so much time and care into our consult to figure out what I wanted. She stayed after closing just to finish my hair because my hair absorbs color abnormally, and she wanted it to be perfect. Finally I can go to the salon with peace of mind knowing Kayla is going to do my hair. read more

For my wedding in Pacifica, I had no idea where to even start finding a bridal hair stylist. When I saw AV Hair and Makeup just down the street from my venue, I decided to check them out. I had an amazing experience thanks to Daniela and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for someone you can trust to make you feel beautiful on your wedding day! Daniela is warm, relaxed, and genuine- just the presence you want to help calm your nerves on the big day. She communicates well via email and was very accommodating when I wanted to make changes to my style a few weeks after the trial. She arrived on time on the wedding day and created my style quickly but carefully. I was concerned about finding a style that would stand up to the salt, wind, and rain at my beach wedding but she did a brilliant combination of products that held up to the elements but didn't feel or look crunchy and stiff. I have fine blonde hair that gets the "helmet" look easily if there's too much hairspray, but this wasn't a problem with Daniela. She made sure that I was happy with the style before I left and was happy to fix the little areas I wanted tweaked. Taking it down after the wedding was easy as she managed to use relatively few pins compared to other updos I've had in the past. If you're looking for someone in the bay area that you can rely on to create the perfect bridal look and keep the atmosphere of your big day chill, Daniela is a great choice! read more

I scheduled my color appointment with Angelina online - she got back to me by email and we discussed exactly what I want. This off the bat made me really happy because she took the time to go over what we were going to do to my hair beforehand so I didn't have to explain it all to her the moment I got there like most places- she cared and took her own time to contact me. She is extremely welcoming and friendly right off the bat. She cares about her clients and her work and really makes sure she does exactly what YOU want. We even looked through Pinterest to get the exact thing down. Love also how she offers Olaplex. The salon itself is also just completely adorable. Small. But amazing inside. No rush- no hassle. read more

I got my hair done by Angelena. First of all, she is so nice and welcoming! Seriously, it's like you are at home when you are with her. Best interaction I have ever had at a salon. Now to the hair! She knows her stuff. She knows about new styles and new products. More importantly, she knows what looks good. I have fine hair and she worked it like a magician. I came in with terrible golden colored hair. It was bad. She made it beautiful again. Definitely will be going to Angelena from now on. Excited to try new things in the future. Seriously, go online and make your appointment. You won't regret it. read more

I've been with Angelena for close to a year now and she is absolutely amazing. She was originally over at Bamboo Hair and Body down in Half Moon Bay and has since then been thriving closer to home at Shine. She's educated not only with Olaplex, but Balayage as well and is willing to work with any challenge given. I came in wanting my head half white half black. I was working from an undertone red box dye with several black box dyes on top of all of that. Needless to say it took a lot of patience and time to get to what i wanted, but Angelena made it happen. We've worked on it to the point where my hair is healthy even after multiple bleaches. Angelena is seriously a miracle worker with a wonderful personality. I recommend her to anyone looking for a change, dramatic or simple. read more

First time here and I usually don't write reviews but this was noteworthy. I was recommended by a friend to a stylist named Jennifer Veilleux and was impressed! I had been going to a barber for a while but have been unsatisfied as of late so I searched for a new spot and took this recommendation from my friend to see Jennifer. I was impressed with the experience from the start as the ambience and care was exceptional. Jennifer greeted with warmth and hospitality. The salon was not stuffy even though it was chic and modernistic. Jennifer took the time and care that no other stylist/barber that I've had in the past. She helped me get started with the haircut that I wanted and recommended the perfect look that a highly trained stylist/barber would as well. All in all, the experience was superb. I would most definitely be coming back soon! If anyone else wants this rec, here's her info: Jennifer Veilleux 408-887-3562 read more

I feel so lucky to have found Angelena - thank you Yelp! Angelena has been cutting my hair these past six months and she does a great job with my A line bob even changing it up a bit to accommodate my fine, somewhat wavy thicker hair. In addition to her expertise, she makes you feel very welcome. I was so happy to hear that she now runs the salon and has already transformed it into an even better experience. I highly recommend Angelena and AV Hair and Makeup! read more

I am very wary of new hair dressers doing my color, but when I moved to Pacifica I had to find one. Jen changed my highlights to ombre and it came out amazing! It looks so natural and came out beautiful. She also gave me the best haircut I have had in years! My hair finally air drys without looking like a big mushroom. I will definitely be a client of hers for as long as she's in Pacifica. read more

LOVE HER!! Ive been going to Jen for the last 4 years; she will even be doing my hair and bridesmaids hair for my wedding next June. Super excited. I have really thick, curly hair. I have never been very happy with any hair cut I have ever gotten until I went to Jen. She definitely knows what up. I've gotten haircuts, highlights, and color. She washes your hair, cuts, adds color/highlights if wanted, then blow drys and/or straightens if you want. Reasonable pricing and the establishment itself is nice and the music is always pleasant. She even cuts men's hair! My friends husband goes to her for his hair cuts too. read more

Angelena is amazing with hair and is so sweet and warm! I'm so happy I went to her. I first heard of her because someone else on facebook was asking for recommendations and so many people recommended her. I really needed a haircut but always get nervous because it's so frizzy and thick but she knew what to do with it. She cut off 3 inches and I love it! I made my next appointment to get my hair colored that same day. I have a peekaboo hair style that I got done out of state and it was time to get it colored again. I love how it turned out! She made sure to explain everything she was doing which I always like. The salon is also clean and cozy. I highly recommend Angelena, she's fantastic! read more

Angelena is amazing. I've been coming here to see Angelena since before she owned the space (it used to be called Shine) and have been a regular for two years. Since she bought the salon it's only got better - she remodeled and redesigned it and it looks great; very stylish and tastefully done. And as for the hair - all I can say is she works some magic. I've got some pretty unmanageable hair which is tough to tame and sculpt, but Angelena puts in the time to perfect and personalize every time, and I come out looking and feeling like a straight up male model. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. read more

Now that Jenn is in Pacifica, I decided to drive from the city to go back to her again because she is the only one that understands my hair. I have thick, coarse Asian hair and have not found someone who could cut it right. I found her! My last stylist really did not understand my style of hair and in the end, actually made it look and feel awful. Coming back to Jen In Pacifica is worth the commute and drive because getting your haircut from Jen is ALWAYS spot on and worth every penny! AV Hair and Makeup is an incredible salon.  Their stylists are talented professionals that are creative, attentive, and a pleasure to do business with.  Their newest addition, Jordan, has been my go-to person since she started there, and even though my needs are simple, she does an exquisite job with me, every time.  Not only is she a skilled stylist with a positive joyful presence, her vision with cuts and color blend seamleslsly with the requests of her clients.  Jordan is a perfect addition to the impressive family of artists at AV Hair and Makeup.  Honestly, it is the best experience I have ever had as a styling client, and I cannot recommend this business highly enough. read more

I had been working towards blonde from a dark brunette. My hair had been destroyed by over processing. I was lost, I could not even look at myself in the mirror anymore, wearing a hat when ever possible. Then I found Angelena, she turned everything around. First by being patient and talking to me over the phone, then conveniently meeting with me for a hair consultation (without charge). She set up a time to transform my hair: one on one with her; she was informative, instructional, and caring! I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. Her skill is amazing but the bonus, she is insightful and has a great sense of humor. My six hours zoomed by, and once again I enjoyed looking at my hair. read more

I started going to Angelena about two years ago... we started off doing highlights which always came out amazing.... but then I decided I wanted to try balayage and have been doing that now. I really loved how both hairstyles came out!! She really takes the time to answer any questions I have about the process. She really cares about her clients and is passionate about her job! I trust her completely with my hair... I wouldn't go to anyone else!! She even takes the time to write down the blends or colors she uses so we can use the same colors each time I come which is probably every 4- 6 months. Another thing she did was recommend products that I can use in my hair (shampoo/conditioner) to keep it healthy and for the color to last longer. I brought my sister once while I got my hair done, she didn't mind waiting because Angelena was so warm and friendly! Before I leave she always makes sure my hair is nice and styled... I always feel beautiful when I leave this salon!! And I love the remodel... it looks so much better than the tacky layout the previous owner had. I probably would have never gone to this salon if Angelena didn't work here.... the new owners and staff are amazing!! Love love love!!! read more

I'm SO grateful for Angelena's help/talent with getting ready before graduation! She worked magic under a time crunch, and I could not have been happier with my hair and make up. And most importantly, she was a really positive/pleasant person to work with on this! Will be back again :) read more

I am very happy with Angelena. I have been going to her for over a year and my hair is in really good shape as far as cut and the texture. Recently I thought of maybe coloring my hair. I have grey hair now cropping up and I asked what she would recommend keeping in mind my natural color and my wanting to stay close to it. (I don't mind my silver strands, but my daughter thought maybe I should cover it). Angelena is totally NOT into the up sell on her services. She did not think with the grey that I have that I needed to have any color done. I appreciate that Angelena has the integrity to not up sell. read more

OMG I just can't describe how amazing my experience with Angelena at Shine Hair Studio was!! I really needed my nightmare of a bad hairdo fixed. I had natural dark outgrown roots that did not match with the worn-out brassy orange parts of my hair. It looked horrible and I've been looking for a place I could trust enough to do my hair and fix it for good. After some researching on Yelp, I decided to come here. First of all, it was so simple and easy scheduling an appointment with the salon. Although I got there only a few minutes before my appointment (should've gotten there earlier, stupid me!), Angelena greeted me with a cheerful smile and took the time to discuss with me what I wanted, what would work best for my damaged hair, and how we should go with it. I kid you not, it took an excruciating 4+ hours to undo and correct the mess including toning, cutting, coloring and what not. A huge kudos to Angelena for being so patient and a true professional. And boy, were the results amazing!! She managed to beautifully blend my natural dark brown hair with a natural smoky brown with no trace of the abomination that I carried around before. And she also gave me a lovely haircut. To top it all, she even gave me some lovely curls. It was amazing work. I definitely recommend Angelena for top notch hair color work!! Thank you Angelena and Shine Hair Studio. I'll definitely come back here for any hair needs! read more
