Sure, I could have installed it myself, but would I have been brave enough to drill into the brick on the front of my house and not ruin everything? Probably not. So happy that Doug (one of the owners) knows what he's doing. He took care of ordering the parts, taking care of installation, and showing us how to use the app on our phones to get the most out of the system. He didn't try to upsell us on any additional products. We used VHS a 2nd time to install a smart lock on our home. Again, Doug showed us the various options available and pointed out we should choose a color that matched our existing hardware (I would not have thought of that on my own). He took care of ordering and installed for us. He ran into a few snags removing the existing lock and then getting the new deadbolt to latch. I can only imagine if my partner and I were trying to install, we would have been freaking out. Doug handled everything in stride (he's done this a few times). We thought we could download the app can get it connected to our Smart system ourselves, but again Doug was there to help us out when we got stuck. The personal attention that they give at VHS is unmatched. Communication via email with both Doug and Sean was easy and quick. They were available even after 5pm and on the weekend to work around our schedule. Of course, you could try to do everything yourself, but they take the thinking and arguing out of the equation. That's absolutely worth it to me!

Choosing a partner for a home project can be difficult at best. From the moment I met Shawn Hagan, I knew I was in good hands. She is smart, focused, honest, thorough and genuine. I had call them for a problem that they should have already contacted me about and instead of calling me back I got a generic email. This all could have been avoided with some communication on their end. Makes me question their organization.

As a somewhat techy guy I wasn't thrilled to not have been given a choice, but we weren't going to stop building our home because of it. We had the chance to meet with Charles at Soho in St. Charles. You can tell he knew his stuff. I was asking him some stingy questions about the system capabilities and he was able to answer all of my questions with mostly simple explanations/demonstrations and really did a great job of helping us understand what it was all about. And to his credibility, I did stump him on one of my questions and instead of trying to rush an answer he took the time to make sure he researched before making something up to get the sale. Very honest and fair. It was a great experience. We ended up placing a pretty sizeable order when the time came. The installation guys were were fantastic. Jake was the project manager who did most of the work on my home. The guy is a wizard. He really went the extra mile to make sure everything was installed with high quality (worth a tip!). And when finished really helped me thoroughly understand my system. If you're lucky enough to get (request) that combo you should be in good shape. The only issue we ran into was there was a small hiccup with the under cabinet lighting that had nothing to do with Soho. The cabinets my wife picked were custom and the LED lights were not able to adhere. By the time this happened everything was finished with the closing on our house and everyone had been paid. I was worried this was going to be a long process that included a lot of battles over making it all right. We were adding a lot of lights, it was a fair amount of money spent here. Trying to make a long story shorter.. The guys were all over it. Charles worked with me to fix this ASAP. Offered multiple solutions that made worked for everyone. Jake was out here working on problem solving and the owner of the company even called to make sure everything that could be done, was. In this day in age that personal touch means a lot and I can think of a few of their sound competitors where I highly doubt this would happen. There are a lot companies with different options out there for this kind of thing. Always do your research, but if you run into a builder that uses Soho, or if you're looking for some technology solutions for your current home I would recommend giving them a shot. My wife and I will definitely do business with them again.
