What a treat! This bakery was close to our Paris hotel. Perfect pick up for both an end of the day treat to enjoy before turning in for the day. Another great location for picking up a sandwich before heading off to the train station before our next stop. My husband has decent basic French language skills but even here our accents were too thick to be understood, so we had to resort to pointing but the staff were very friendly both times we stopped in. Be sure to prep your basic language skills before your trip if you are a visiting tourist like us! read more

One of the very few bakeries that make everything from scratch. Most other bakeries don't. They supply bread and pastries to many Parisian hotels and fashion companies and tech companies in Paris. Amazing group of family owned bakeries, all of which have the word "Manon" in it. Excellent and worth your visit to try their bread and croissants and everything else. read more

Is this patisserie/boulongerie related to Miss Manson a block away? I don't know, but I know this location was our regular stop for pastries and bread. My friend had never been to Paris and her eyes went wide at the lovely cakes, pastries and macarons that are beautifully displayed. (Later she figured out there's a similar shop every other block or so) We visited most days to pick up a delicious thing for breakfast or to grab a baguette. First - their baguettes are legit. Perfectly crusty on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and just €1. Most times they were still slightly warm and went perfectly with soft cheese back at the flat. Pastries and cakes were great too - we tried a cherry cake as well as a chocolate one. Both were incredibly rich and delicious. Staff is nice, and tolerated my poor French which I appreciate. Expect long lines especially as people come home from work (it's literally just outside the metro stop) but things move quickly. read more

If only I could take this boulangerie in my suitcase and plant it outside my apartment in Plano. The baguette? AMAZING. Rustic, crispy yet chewy outer shell, and light, billowy soft inside make these baguettes superb on its own. I could eat a baguette per meal. How awesome would a sandwich be? Or with olive spread? Oh man, I don't know who this Manon is (Google says it's an opera), but we certainly desired it. This was a local spot right next to the St. Paul metro stop near our flat. So naturally, we hit this place up for breakfast every day. Their desserts looked just as fantastic as every other Paris bakery, but we went more for the boulangerie side. Two highlights in particular: the ratatouille quiche and the amazing bolognese hot sandwich. Am I allowed to drool yet? This place is absolutely packed during breakfast/lunch hours, and you're shuttled down the line with people taking your orders haphazardly. Which is more than a little difficult if you don't speak French. I think we managed okay. It's a little unfair that Paris has a local one of these on every corner, while we're stuck with multiple La Madeleine's here in Houston. read more

Great patisserie right next to the Saint Paul subway stop. The lattes are delicious. The plain croissants aren't the best in the city, but they hold their own. I also sampled a few different apple pastries, the macarons, a croque monsieur (so good), spinach quiche (amazing) and kouign aman (probably my favorite pastry that I tried). The macarons are yummy but some flavors are a little sweet. There's a little bar area where you can stand and eat. read more

Almond croissants!!! I haven't had one of these in years (it barely exists in Barcelona) - so when I saw this, I HAD to have one. Perhaps it was slightly over-the-top sweet, but it was such a rare treat, that I was simply in almond croissant heaven. As for the basic croissant, it was solid... but since I don't eat many croissants anymore, if I return to Manon, I'll just splurge and go for the almond croissant. Great little spot, no tables, just walk in and order a pastry and/or coffee, and be on your way. There's a counter to stand at while you eat if you have some time. St. Paul metro station is just steps away outside the bakery. Croissants are very good here- very flaky outside and nice and fluffy inside. A+! read more

The best french pastries! This bakery is no frills but all pastries were freshly baked in house. We got there early & the bakers were just putting out the freshly baked goods from the kitchen. There was a long line but it moved fast, they took & served the orders fast. Slightly intimidating as the bakers or the women who worked there did not speak english. My husband & I got the freshly baked plain & chocolate croissants, their famous freshly baked apple tart & fresh cups of coffee. I literally died & went to heaven. The croissants were flaky on the outside & buttery on the inside, it melted into my soul! The best croissants in Paris! The apple tarts were also fantastic, so fresh & perfectly baked. OH MY GOODNESS. I feel as though I need to write this review entirely in french and in caps lock to ensure I get across my feelings for this bakery. I seriously think my hear was left in this very bakery near the apartment we stayed in Paris. If it wasn't for my fiance having a delayed flight out of Paris I would have brought my mom here on a day trip and frankly I'm so sad I did not get to. If I had one day left on earth it would be spent in this bakery in Paris. I think my happiest moments occurred here. If you are anywhere remotely near Paris... by near I mean in Europe you need to make a journey to this bakery and let it consume your life. My french is broken and could really use some work, but I tried my absolute hardest to order in french for these delectable treat and guess what the staff were so sincere and accommodating and they humoured me and spoke french back to me even though I'm sure they could hear my horrid accent. Seriously, I would live in Paris just so I could speak to the staff of this store. The delectable baked goods were a force to be reckoned with, I don't think I've tasted anything better in my life. i was in Paris for five days and I don't think there was a day were I didn't spend at least 20 euros at this bakery on treats. I don't even know the name of the stuff I'm getting from this bakery, but ever since the 2nd day I was in Paris, Aux Desirs de Manon was always my go-to breakfast take-out before I go into the St Paul station that is literally next to it and ride the metro on my Parisian adventure! What brings me back is that every pastry I got was not only delicious and freshly-made but also cheap with each costing only €2 or below. No Parisian trip is complete without a trip in the bakery and Aux Desirs de Manon is an excellent choice especially if you are planning to explore the Marais neighborhood because it's just right by the metro station. By the time I had to leave Paris, I even made the trip to pick up my last French pastry before I hop on the Eurostar to London. The pastry may not last as long as an Eiffel Tower keychain but it was perhaps the best memento I brought from France. I definitely recommend coming by to get yourself a delicious cheap pastry here! I'd give this boulangerie five stars for the bread alone. The warm baguettes are a dream, and for a single euro, they're a steal. My wife and I spent ten days in Paris, and it's rather telling that of all the beautiful sights we saw and experiences we had, it's the bread from Aux Désirs we seem to remember the most. Their pastries are equally delicious, of course, but that bread... it's something I've never encountered before, and dearly miss. You can always find good pastries. Bread like this, though? I ate at a ton of patisseries while in Paris. But, this is the best. The veggie sandos are awesome, the tarts are transcendent, the chicken sandwiches have mayo but are great. It's 7am and a gray morning in Paris. The clochards are still in full swing outside my rented flat and I begrudgingly drag my suitcase past them, bemoaning my fate of a 10:30am flight back to Minnesota. But wait, a glowing light and the scent of all good things emanate from Aux desirs de Manon, intercepting my path to the taxi stand. I order a croissant a l'orange and a piece of the apricot tart, and put them in my leather sack, preparing for an airport breakfast. An hour of rush hour traffic and custom clearance later, I arrive at my gate and unwrap my slightly crushed goodies, mes dernieres souvenirs de paris. The croissant was fragrant and subtly oranged, but the real standout was that gorgeous tart, which albeit smushed, was a pure delight of juicy fruit, and deep nutty undertones of ground pistachio. Next time, I will purchase one in each delectable flavor, especially the gorgeous apple tart! read more
