It is definitely a good place to have a good time everybody seems to be very friendly we have been there for 2 years and facilities are very clean and the management is very nice. They have ponds where you can go fishing and they keep it stocked with fish there is no lake but they do have a heated swimming pool. They have live bands that play every Saturday and they have a playground for the kids as well as a full size basketball court they also have a baseball field as well. We have horseshoe pits a place to play bocce ball and a volleyball court. They have a place where they all gather together and have their bomb fires as a community within the park and we also get together and have meals as well periodically throughout the season. These are put on by management paid for by donation bottles that are used by campers and donated to the office they return them and use that money to go towards helping to pay for all the things that they do or the camp itself. So if you're looking for a great Campground for a seasonal spot this would be a real great place to try. Thanks for listening

A small lake, no large motorized boats are allowed, so it is quiet and peaceful. In fact, the greatest disturbances tend to be other campers who insist on playing their music loudly. Thankfully, there is usually a good amount of space between sites, and most people respect the quiet hours. While this campground is a long way away from where I live, it is definitely worth the drive. If you are interested in fall camping, I can't even being to describe how beautiful it is to wake up in the morning to see the lake surrounded by a riot of colors.

Located close to Indian Lake, the Lewey Lake Campground has multiple entrances off of Route 30N with the main campground the furthest south and what I have labeled on the Yelp map. Keep in mind that the address does not come up properly on Google Maps or Bing maps so look at the Yelp placement for more accuracy. We were at the furthest north campsites which are pretty isolated from everyone else. The sites our group stayed at were situated right next to a stream which was great for sleeping. You couldn't hear anyone around you and even with the goings on at our lower campsite we couldn't hear them at all. There only outhouses at this location of the campground but it is a short drive to the main sites that have real bathrooms and showers along with a nice, simple beach. Despite how close it is to Route 30N, I definitely felt isolated in a good way and would highly recommend staying there for people looking for some interesting camping with reasonably convenient location.

It is VERY much off the beaten path and once you turn on Somerset Rd., it's a good 3 or 4 mile drive to get to the general parking, picnic area near the water. Oh yeah, the road isn't paved either so it's best to have a 4x4 or some sort of vehicle with tires that can handle the trek. The general parking area is a decent size, there are a few picnic tables and a port-a-potty which was surprisingly clean. The reservoir itself is huge and great for kayaking or canoeing, neither of which we did, but I did see quite a few people there enjoying themselves on the water. There is one general walking direction which takes you to several different hiking paths and there is even a cute little bridge overlooking a beautiful stream. It had rained that morning and with leaves falling, the trails were a little slippery at points, but nothing that made me feel unsafe. I'd definitely recommend wearing sneakers or hiking boots of some kind. Between the group of us, we had 3 dogs and none of them were on a leash; people really didn't seem to care and everyone was friendly. The dogs enjoyed swimming in the water and I enjoyed looking at it. I'd most definitely go back to Somerset Reservoir with a camera and a light lunch to kick back and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

This wasn't my first stay in a tipi, teepee, tepee, however you want to spell it, all are correct…read more It wasn't even my second time. It was my third magical stay in one of these cone shaped wonders which bring me so, so much peace. So, I guess you can say I'm a "tipi expert", comparatively speaking. A night's sleep in a tipi is certainly a very spiritual experience, one I believe everyone who is even the slightest bit a nature lover or even just a tad boho should definitely try! I completely understand they aren't for everyone, but if you're somewhat adventurous, I say it's an absolute must!! This tipi was made very well. The flooring was made of stone and pieced together perfectly as if it were grouted which was new to me. There were scattered pallets around the fire for relaxing, covered in faux fur throws as well as tree stump end tables, some with candles and naturally shed antlers. It was like my own home right here in the middle of NY state. Fresh towels were waiting, neatly folded on our cozy, comfy bed. The fire pit which is traditionally placed inside the tipi, in the middle, was very well constructed and safe. It was deeper than most I've seen, surrounded by larger stones around the perimeter. Small kindling wood peices were ready and waiting for us as were candles, matches and directions on how to care for the structure. The top of the tipi remained opened all night which I personally prefer for star-gazing and waking up naturally by the daylight. The flaps can normally be closed during rain or colder weather. There was a hammock located just feet away from the tipi. We spent the morning rocking along in nature, listening to the birds fly above and just staring at the tipi which has just given us an amazing nights sleep. The outhouse was a little ways down the trail and was the cleanest I've ever seen! Even the tp was folded into a tip! There's pump water for washing, even a mirror. No shower. Please consider that when booking. And if you're too chic for a little saw dust sprinkle after you do your business, stay elsewhere. On the way out we fed two beautiful horses and a couple chickens which for me just added to the experience. Have no fear, they're far enough away from camp base you won't smell them. They were extremely friendly and hay bails were there waiting. Please no people food! We took a drive around the massive property, 225 acres to be exact!! There were many secluded sites besides the tipi! I definitely see us coming back here, with the kiddos too! It was about 3 hours or so from Philly and was literally on our way to Canada. It's about 20 minutes from my favorite grocery store in Albany, Honest Weight which will have anything you may need. Note, there's not much directly around so come prepared. The closest coffee shop was about 15 minutes away. The land was very rural, but it's about 10 minutes down the hill to the highway, which you could not hear from the site. We had no interaction with anyone here as we arrived after dark, so if you're used to concierge and camp hosts, this isn't the place for you. You can leave your car lights on to set up or if you're like me and have lanterns in your car, one would come in handy at night as it's pitch black. Aka perfect. Jason was readily available for directions and any communication leading up to our stay which we booked through Airbnb. I have a coupon code for $35 off if you're interested, just inbox me. Even in the dark we really didn't have an issue finding our site, but it may be tricky for some. Stay patient and follow the signs. Siri doesn't know her way around the grounds. The Magic Forest also hosts trips and does composting, farming and other environmental projects daily. Check their site for more info! It's a very special space. I highly recommend this experience. Just for a night!

Limited availability exists for Phish Phan rates, starting out at $17 per night with additional fees depending on number of guests and site type requested. Reasonable by all means in my opinion. According to the website, it appears that sites with water/electric normally go for $30 a night with deals for weekly and monthly stays. What sets this campground apart from others is the staff and the atmosphere. Everyone greets you with a smile and is genuinely interested in maximizing your stay's enjoyment. An atmosphere of community and neighborliness is almost palpable. Regulars stroll by and inquire about the prior evening's concert. Staff role around on tractors kindly rescuing cars and campers from the mud when several days rain renders them lost. Special weekend activities such as Bingo, Parades, Contests, etc. promote activity between sites. There's nothing like sleeping in after a long concert on these quiet grounds, showering off the stickiness from a night of dancing, grilling up delicious meals, lounging amongst the sights and sounds of upstate NY, taking a dip in the pool to cool off, grabbing a frozen treat from the convenience store, and strolling the shaded paths of these grounds in anticipation of another night's concert and following campfire. Sitting on a swing in the early morning, car packed to the brim with what was left of our camping supplies, I felt reminded of the cherished summers I spent at day camps back home. I look forward to another stay on these grounds in future weekend trips to SPAC.

In this case, I looked for a site close to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center to stay at after a concert. The webpage mentioned having a shuttle from the concert, which only indicates that they were likely accommodating many late-arriving concertgoers. I booked my site and received a call shortly after, notifying me that my site was flooded out, and I would need to be moved to the spill-over area. Not a problem. The call was pleasant, and I couldn't have cared any less. I asked how packed the spill-over was, and it sounded fine, so everything was set. We were just there for a quick tent setup, sleep, and leave in the morning kind of scenario. $30-something for the night? Sounds good! How wrong I was. We arrived a little after midnight, as would be expected considering I was asked if I was booking my site for the concert. I notified the main desk that I was just looking for the spill-over area as my site was said to be flooded, and they ended up giving me another site! Score! We were psyched. Maybe we'd take our time and have a little coffee before we left even! I was given a highlighted map to find our site (#174). We pulled into our site and were met with what appeared to be a long-term camper situation across from us complete with green laser beam lighting, giving the surrounding area the feel of both a cheap night club, and being the focus of a green dot laser-sighted kill team. Accompanying the visual display was a loud radio, essentially playing the Home Depot radio playlist. Now, the volume was what my girlfriend and I both saw as inconsiderate given that it was after midnight, but we weren't going to make a stink about it. Give them a chance to realize it's late, the campgrounds have rules, and maybe consider being good people. That was a dumb idea. Not only did they turn it up louder, but then they broke out the karaoke machine and proceeded to scream into the microphone as if we had wronged them, and we deserved to live in hell for whatever amount of time we'd be there. If they weren't intentionally trying to piss us off and this is just who they are as regular people, they are the largest pieces of trash humans I've ever encountered, and I work in NYC. We plugged our ears up, trying to get whatever sleep we could get, planning to leave at 7-8am anyway. There's no telling what drugs these jackasses were on, and who knows if they had guns. "Just get through the night," we said. At some point, a car pulls up to our site and had their headlights right on our tent, waking me up. The driver claims we had his site, which we didn't. I pointed out that the tag on my dashboard matches the site #. Turns out someone from the main desk even had the courtesy to lead them to the site. They ended up bringing the later arrivers to another site. While they were there, they even said "you know better" to the loud people across the way, who had briefly calmed down. That lasted about 2 minutes after the people from the main desk left. It went right back to the meth head karaoke party after that. It started to rain, the meth party moved inside, but they left the radio on. Good times. We barely sleep. 6 am rolls around, and I hear someone approaching my tent. "Hey man, sorry for waking you up, you want a balloon?" the random voice asks. For the folks who don't do drugs, this is a balloon of nitrous oxide (whippits). I thought they were fun when I was in my 20s I guess. I respond with a less-than-kind way of saying I just want to sleep. I am proud of myself for not unzipping the tent and figuring out how to stab someone to death with a balloon. I swear I would have figured it out, but they were so messed up on whatever drug cocktail they had been doing all night, they probably wouldn't have felt it, which would have only killed whatever joy I would have gotten from the experience. They leave. We decide to pack up and leave shortly after. I left them with a few seconds of aggressive metal music blasting from my Jeep for good measure, and we left. I doubt they woke up. I truly hope they didn't... like ever. This was a horrible experience. Even if the main desk was upset with our late arrival (despite knowing and planning for the concert in the area), there's never any call for this kind of behavior. The only thing that would have capped off the whole night perfectly would have been someone sneaking into my tent and slamming a bouquet of poison ivy into my urethra. Do not go to this site unless you need a good deal on meth, nitrous balloons, or if you want to feel what it's like to have the purest hatred fill your heart and lose whatever faith in humanity you may have left. I would ask for a refund, but they probably need the money to pay for whatever addiction they're feeding.
