Wendy and her son, Brad, who run the place are always friendly, cheerful, and extremely accommodating. We live in Phoenix and RV cross country every summer. This is one of the nicest RV parks we have ever stayed in! Last summer we were here for 4 days and loved it, so this summer we stayed for 2 weeks. We are definitely coming back here next summer and will do at least 2 weeks, possibly 3. If you're ever in New York's capital region this is definitely the park to stay in.

Talking to the other campers on the waterfront, we assumed the more times you stay the better the site you get. So my advice would be to stay at the least expensive site on the 400+ acre campground, then after about three visits, get a waterfront site. The men's restroom was dirty. All I can say is that I am glad I stand up to pee. My wife had no problems in the public restroom near the camp store. The camp store is expensive! If you forgot something, you will pay! $7 + for a propane bottle for the camping stove. $3.75 for a dozen worms( mine had 9 worms). Walmart is about 25 miles away. I didn't mind being shorted worms, I had a great time catching fish about the size of my hand( no sarcasm, it was fun). There were not many activities for campers to do especially for a place to call itself a resort. The employees seemed to like to work at the campground. The owner, Pete, seemed like he was burnt out. He is more than accommodating to the seasonal folks, but the non-regulars, you are better off talking to an employee. I didn't have a bad experience with Pete, but it seemed like he needed a vacation. There was construction at the campground. When we hooked up our services, the water didn't work. The construction workers hit the water line. No big deal, after a couple of hours our water was back. On Saturday at 730am, we heard the annoying beeping of vehicles backing up. It was one of their "cherry pickers" driving through the campsites cutting down tree branches. There is a better time to do that...like during the week when less campers are there. All in all, my family had a good time had great camping neighbors, but this place was very expensive. I would think twice before going again and maybe decide to camp there but not sure.

Although they've made significant financial investment in the property, the overall experience has declined substantially. Their oppressive corporate policies and constantly increasing prices make this once family friendly park into just another extremely limiting HOA. We've come here to be with our kids and freinds as we've lived in Saratoga for 4 decades. This place has in the past given us a great location to do just that. And without any other reasonable option I suppose we'll have to continue to come here. However we're definitely considering shortening our stay. Such a shame corporate involvement ends up turning something good into a money grab.

How do I feel about this KOA? The best way I can describe it is "meh". We arrived not long after the posted checkin time to find a locked office and a map with our name written on it posted to the door. Being avid campers, we're no stranger to this practice but typically this is done if you're a later arrival and if not the campground usually gives you a heads up that the office will be closed then checks in on you later in the day to make sure you settled in ok and don't need anything. We've never been to the area so I was looking forward to speaking with the staff for some recommendations of places to go in the area. We also didn't have any firewood. They're doing some big renovations and I'm optimistic that they'll be nice. The bathrooms appear to have recently been done and look great (although the shower stalls are directly next to one another and have large openings on the top and bottom which is less than ideal for privacy sake). Water pressure in the showers was great and they are free but the stalls and dressing areas are cramped and could use more hooks/shelves to put things while in use. The rest of the campground was an absolute mess though. Obviously construction mixed with spring mud is not a pretty combination but to be honest had I known the current state of the campground I would have booked elsewhere. Guests should have been informed in advance and given a discounted rate or the campground should have delayed opening until the major renovations were completed. Our site was pretty level but had a cabin up right against it with nothing to separate the sites for privacy. The view was the pool and the road. Fire ring was a small one that was sunk into the ground. We had two bars of service for T-Mobile which allowed us to use our cell phone but not to stream anything when we were stuck inside because of the rain. So to sum it up...I'm going to give it a middle of the road rating of 3 stars. The location is good and I'm happy to see they are making improvements to the property. Although the ambiance and privacy was severely lacking for us I'm optimistic that they are working on improving that. However I think the service could be improved and more consideration could be given to the guest experience. **Update** Shortly after posting this the owner approached my fiancé and said that he felt bad about the current state of their campground so they were going to issue us a partial refund for our night stay. So I don't know if the owners saw my review (which I honestly don't think was the case since it was within half an hour of my post) or if it was just a crazy coincidence but ultimately the owner did try to improve on our experience.

However, our neighbors were wonderful. They helped us get the trailer in and the one guy actually moved his back so we could park our truck in our spot and his truck in his spot. The staff was so wonderful, kind and helpful. We couldn't get the cable to work and they help us until we finally said, "don't worry about it." It landed up our box is broke. The staff went so beyond helping us. This is a seasonal to permanent camp resort. The people were so nice. Everyone waving and saying hello. We only stayed from Sun - Fri. But we said we would stay again. The pool is huge and at night it stays open for the grown ups only. The dog park was nice. We loved walking around the park looking at how everyone had their sites set up. We are going to be getting a seasonal to permanent site (closer to home) and it gave us some great ideas. The campground is very well kept and clean. It's also secure. It was very relaxing, not a lot of noise and not rowdy. Now the cons: we received a pamphlet saying the camp store/office was open until 9 on certain days and 7 on certain days. Well the office was closed by 6 everyday. But, that didn't matter as there were stores close by. We received what the activities were but not where to go for them. The only other thing is the garbage was picked up at like 3-4 am. At least that's what we think it was. Very nosy and woke us up. Oh and by the way, we loved the price. Can't find full hook up at a reasonable price.

At the time we were interested it was called NASCAR. I believe nascar made them change the name of the campground. We ended up disputing the charge with our bank because the campground refused to work with us and return our money. Our bank investigated the situation and their dishonest business practice and was able to get our money back. Check other places before you sign anything.
