Unfortunately, the corporate stuffed shirts have not aligned policies to provide acceptable customer service. I bought an ODB diagnostic dongle, connected it to my wifi (after it said Error 001 instead of saying "no internet connection", but it connected after moving the car closer to the house), but it repeatedly failed when it tried to download the firmware to the dongle. I drove back to the store the next day to return it and was told, "It is corporate policy not to accept an electronic item for return without the manager who is not here. You can return it tomorrow." Another fellow called today and had not been told any of the details of the return. I repeated and he said he used it without issue. He used an Apple phone, I used a Samsung. That piece of the problem never made it into his head, but should have since I explained it loudly enough for everyone in the store to know. They said in the store and on the phone that they could not refund the purchase without the physical credit card. My credit card company confirmed that a retailer CAN refund a purchase without storing all the credit card information. Since they cannot, then they need to fix their system. Can't return without a manager, must return to the store when a manager is there and they are not capable of a refund transaction without the card that the credit card company agreed with me that the do not need. Incompetent executives is the main problem with the commerce worldwide.

I have a 97 Camry with a V6 engine. It has leather upholstery and the A/C runs cold. Love the…read morecar. But, it also had 230,000 miles. The engine was burning oil like an old time heater and the transmission died. To replace the engine and tranny would have cost $14,000+ at a dealer or lots more for a new or late model used vehicle. I bought a used Japanese engine and transmission with about 35,000 miles on them from Al at Japan Direct over by Briar Creek Shopping Center. Got the engine, the tranny and installation for $4100. It runs like a charm. The Japanese drivers tend to take excellent care of their cars and trade them in after 3 years, due to the draconian property tax increases at that point. Nobody wants to buy a used car over there because of the extreme property tax so the cars just sit there. The manufacturers do not want to sell the entire cars overseas because it would cut into their new car sales, so they sell them for parts. You can buy a front or back "clip" which is the entire front or back half of a car, or you can buy the engine and/or transmission. Japan Direct goes over to Japan quarterly and runs the engines before buying, then ships them by the container load back to the US of A. This is a terrific deal; I have a for all intents and purposes low mileage "new used" car for relatively nothing. CHECK THEM OUT!!!

Prior to Covid, free coffee was available, cookies, and service was a lot faster. It is understandably longer now, so make sure to plan to stay at least two hours of waiting. Service personnel are very friendly and honest--they don't try to get you to pay for things you don't really need, which is a huge plus in the automobile industry.

Dan Miller from Miller Mobile was the man. We had an electrical problem with a Chrysler Town and…read moreCountry that one of the local chain repair shops said would be $600+ to fix. I went to Advance Auto in the Walmart shopping center on Glenwood, and was all set to start parts swapping (start with the battery, then try the alternator), and came out with my battery to find a puddle of coolant under my car. I see Dan chatting with the Advance Auto folks, he sees me, comes out and asks if I need help. We chat, he looks under the car, listens to me, and gives me a reasonable rate and estimate to fix the leak and the electrical issue. He gets the battery replaced (the old one was bad) and has the Advance Auto folks checking the electrical system while I'm going in to get the custom hard pipe hose assembly where the system is leaking. Advance Auto realizes that the alternator is also not producing enough current, and while I'm going in to buy a rebuilt alternator (and a timing belt - while we're at it), he replaces the hose assembly and cleans up some wires that the tie-wraps have rotted away. When I come out, he takes the parts, says he'll be done in 30 minutes. I run to Chick-Fil-A, eat a salad, come back and he's just finishing up. He charges a fair price, I write him a check, and have fixed everything including what may have been broken by the un-named major chain repair shop for $100 less than I would've been charged in the first place. I cannot recommend him enough after this experience. By the way, this was over a year ago, and we've had no major issues with the van since then, so Dan's work held up very well over time.

We've taken our vehicles to this tire and service center for many years and when it was Atlantic…read moreTire it was a convenient location with good quality service. Since it changed to Assurance Tire the quality of services has declined and prices have gone way up. Last week was the final time we will have service at Assurance Tire. We brought the SUV in for tire rotation and simple oil/filter change. Rotation was free and the oil change was $115 (similar with dealership prices). After the car was home we noticed a large puddle of oil on the garage floor and we could see the trail of oil on the street in front of our house. We brought the car back to Assurance and they said the gasket they replaced had a tear in it. The car was basically out of oil so they replaced the gasket and the oil. The next three days we continued to see new oil drops on the garage floor so we took it to the Lexus dealer. They said it was likely a cracked oil filter cover and the undercarriage of the car was covered in oil. We paid for the new part and cleaning. Assurance did not offer a discount or refund of the botched oil change nor did they offer to clean the mess under the car. They did offer a future oil change for free, but given this experience we'll pass on that. Assurance did give an estimate for them to replace the front brakes and flush the brake fluid; Lexus gave us a quote for the same at $70 less than the Assurance quote. Do you think we are going to trust Assurance with our brakes when they can't even do a simple oil change correctly? About a year and a half ago I got a quote from Assurance for a brake job on my truck which was about $200 more than I paid to have the job done at the Honda dealer. I'm not going to tell anyone where or where not to have their auto service done, but the advice I can give is to check around and maybe the prices at the dealerships are competitive or better (as in my case). I will give my trust to a business that wants my future business and shows they actually care.
