Dave was unable to pin down the exact cause of the problem. Not only did he tell me he couldn't pin the problem down, but he did not charge me for the diagnostic time (which was not trivial). After some serious analysis on my part, I believe the problem originated with some detailing work I had done four days before. He pointed at two of the wheels lug studs on the same wheel next to each other had been stripped and the lugs cannot go on and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. Then he said word for word (this happens all the time). I pointed back at all the metal shaving proving they were the ones that caused it. Then got charged in full for them breaking the vehicle. No offer to cover damage, no lift home and vehicle had to be left in a lot overnight until I can find a shop that can fix the vehicle. Pending small claims lawsuit soon to follow. Please don't let this happen to you. Stripping one of the wheel lug studs was bad enough but to then strip the one right next to it? Avoid at your own peril.

However, the manager must have wanted to punch the clock more than take care of and impress a potential new customer. I found Rush Truck Center in Tyler, TX to open until 7:30 and it was on my way out of town. What I found was the "Shop" is open until 7:30 but "Parts" closes at 6:PM normally. I said "normally", as pulled into their parking lot Chris was locking the door and heading out. I called out to him that I was need of a couple connectors, he turned around opened the door and told me to come in. He opened the parts department to a non-commercial truck owner, a guy with a small motorhome that needed a couple of inexpensive parts. So first, the first guy arrived without the proper plug-in for testing. Based on a guess, he sent the TCM, transmission control module, out to be repaired. This was after he borrowed a pad and tried it. It was not the TCM. That company cleared the code and sent it back. This took two weeks. Next, they tried another pad. Each time, I had given them the trouble shooting guide to determine the issue. The 2nd man they sent went through half of the guide and determined it was wiring. He was directed to borrow a 2nd pad and try it, then take it back. He had said he was being sent somewhere else where the next day. He left everything unwrapped and disconnected. We didn't realize no one was coming back until I received a call to pay the bill by entering my credit card into a website. No bill, no explanation of what was done, nothing!! Brought in my mower for warranty work (wouldn't start). I told the counter person that this was to…read morebe warranty work and she simply wrote on the work order "won't start" and that it would take a couple of weeks. I get a call from Hubbard about a month later and they said that the mower was ready. When I went to pick it up the charge was $98! Assuming that the repair was to be covered under warranty they said that warranty doesn't cover dirt in the carburetor and that they also replaced the spark plug, air filter and sharpened the blade. I said that they should have called me for authorization of the non-warranty work. They said that the W/O just said "won't start" and didn't mention warranty work and besides the warranty doesn't cover maintenance. I told them that not calling for authorization was poor business practice and that most of what they did I would have done myself if they would have contacted me. I grudgingly paid the $98. As I was leaving the lady behind the counter said "we always have problems with people who live to the south". (I live about 20 miles south of their location.) I will never use this unprofessional, bigoted business again!
