I pulled into the driveway to get my car serviced and it was packed. I almost left because I figured it may be awhile, but the tech assured me that it was only going to take about 30 minutes or so and with, all my traveling, I can tell you my car Is probably running on mud right now instead of oil... yikes. So, 30 minutes wasn't too horrible. I went inside and most of the chairs were full in the waiting room, but they had a tv playing horrible soap operas and a full pot of fresh coffee. I stood around for a few, and realized they had a stack of magazines that had some unusual titles. I'm an artsy type and they had, sitting on the top of the stack, "International Artist." I was pleased and parked my butt in an empty seat. The guy at the front desk was very nice and took my info. My car has lots o miles, so I told him I wanted the oil that would make it purr like a kitten again instead of an asmatic old lion. I presented a coupon to him and he nodded in acknowledgement. I sat back down and watched him greet several of the regulars by name, and that's always a good thing in my book. After awhile they came in and showed me how dirty my air filter was and I cringed... I knew this visit would entail more than an oil change because it had been a pretty long time since I'd brought my car in for service. After about 10 more minutes he came in and said my serpentine belt was bad, and I had a feeling it was so that was no shocker. Well, my 30 minutes turned to about an hour. Not a huge deal, but I think they had to order my serpentine belt from another shop. What I am bummed about is that they didn't tell me, and my boyfriend overheard them ordering it from another shop. Had they set that expectation of my wait, I would have been fine. When I was all done and ready to pay, the guy told me that my coupon wasn't valid because I used a more expensive oil. I probably looked like someone kicked my puppy because the original guy never told me that. For a high mileage oil change, fluid top off, air filter, and serpentine belt I was looking at $160. After he realized the first guy had been told about my coupon, he gave me a $10 discount. I was happy again! He also gave me a loyalty card that gives me my 6th oil change free. Bonus!! The thing I liked the most about them, is that they could tell my car had some issues while starting, and they offered some ideas and mentioned that the auto shop up the street was theirs too. I can say that I will definitely be back here, and I may even try out their auto shop. The service was great, and my car's asthma is silenced for a bit. :P

They also give photos of the items in question. The waiting area is always clean and comfortable. When I picked up the car there was a handwritten note thanking me for the business. "Yep....gonna need a new alternator, you motor is shot so we're going to have to replace that and I'd recommend we rebuild that transmission for you. Here's why I gave Firestone Complete Auto Care that fifth star that I do not give out freely.... I had a situation where my car wasn't starting. I figured it was a battery, or more likely in this case, an alternator issue. That's what it appeared to me. So I got the battery charged and brought the car in. After looking it over the next day, the manager of the store called me to give me an update. He said that they checked everything that they could think of, but didn't find anything wrong with the car. Battery was good. Alternator was good. No parasitic draw on the batter. They checked everything that they could think of. He said he wished they could find the problem, but suggested it may have been as simple as a bad battery connection. When it was all said and done, he charged me a fee of around $40 for looking into it and that was that. No hassle, no "recommended" service items or things to gouge me on. He could not have been more clear and fair about it. This is NOT what people typically expect from a garage. And, as much as I wish they would have found a problem to explain the issue, it has not happened again and I'm good with that. Would I go back? Depending on the need, yes, I would go back. They've always been easy to work with, clear with their explanations and fair all around. I do see a few negative reviews here. Different people, different situations. Sometimes things can be open to perception and relative to the situation itself. For me, I have not had any issues and would highly recommend.
