This isn't about their merchandise.... A month ago I bought an alternator for a 1999 Honda Accord. I went to the drink display to get a diet coke. All the diet cokes were expired for a few months. I let the cashier know..... he said he'd tell the manager. The next day I went to get a serpentine belt - wanted a diet coke....yep....all the expired cokes were still there. I asked for a manager.....and he took them out of the display and said he'd take care of it. A few days ago....went back to the Autozone for some things.....and ..... lo and behold.... ALL OF THE DIET COKES WERE EXPIRED......all of them. I took them out of the display and notified the cashier.... let's see if three times a charm. Manager was cool. Ethan, on the other hand... not so much. I drove 55 minutes to this AutoZone after confirming online and through their in-store inventory that they had a specific oil in stock. When I arrived, I couldn't find it on the shelf, so I asked Ethan if they had any in the back. He flat out told me, "That's all we have, nothing in the back." Something didn't sit right, so I called the manager. Lo and behold, they DID have it in the back. So what's the deal? Either Ethan didn't want to help, or he had no idea how to do his job. Either way, this kind of lazy, dismissive service is unacceptable, especially when customers are driving long distances and trusting your inventory system. This location continues to be my favorite! The hours are extremely convenient, they are open 7am to 11pm every day except Sunday, when they close at 10pm. I continue to appreciate their selection and their reasonable policies with core fees and refunds. They also have a rewards program where they track your purchases over $20 and you earn a $20 reward after the fifth one. Their free tests on error codes and printed reports have saved me from making an unnecessary purchase multiple times in the past, and giving me an opportunity to price check and make a smart decision. That's probably the most invaluable service they offer. However, this update is because they seriously upped their customer service game a while back and I cannot deny it earns them the extra star. Typically I'll get almost all my auto needs from here, including parts that I will take to a shop, air filters, wiper blades, battery cleaner etc. Historically I would get oil from Walmart because it's usually cheaper, although lately I avoid them at all cost so I have purchased oil here recently. In the past I also would get my car battery from other places to get a good deal, but everything else is from here. Well, on Friday my car gave me some serious warnings when I was headed to work and again when I left the gas station. I wasn't sure if it was a battery or a starter at first, and I was in a serious time crunch between work and Saturday appointments so I was concerned about fitting in a visit to a shop and still making it to work on Monday. While I did a lot of juggling and random phone calls that morning from work, a super helpful and detailed phone consultation with Tim reminded me how helpful this location has been and I took the gamble on visiting AutoZone first, possibly missing out on a shop remaining open. I dealt with 3 people while I was there and they all went out of their way to test several things and brainstorm with me. Normally I only deal with one person per visit, but they were extremely packed and busy and when one person lacked the knowledge, skill or had to complete a delivery, they communicated really well with the next person to get me what I needed. The real clincher for this particular situation was they saved me a different trip because they have a pre install that comes with their batteries. So while I can get a battery for about $50 cheaper, I didn't have to spend time and gas to take it somewhere and pay a labor fee, nor did I have to spend my own time in the Texas sun on a stressful day to install it myself. It definitely averaged out to the best deal and solution that day. Now this was an option for me because my battery was in a typical place under the hood, will not be an option for cars with batteries in more hidden places. As usual I left with exactly what I needed without overspending and had a really great experience with the staff, thank you for saving my ass AutoZone! read more

It is hit or miss at auto parts stores..."back in the day", as the saying goes, parts store employees were Gearheads like me. They knew cars...I still remember Curly at my neighborhood parts store who raced cars and knew as much or more than some "mechanics"! Sadly, those days are behind us, but Zack who works at the Denton store is definitely an outstanding AutoZone employee and a great guy too. He definitely enhances the experience at the Denton AutoZone and I appreciate his attitude and his efforts. It makes a difference when you walk into the store and Zack gives you a friendly wave just because he recognizes and remembers you. It's also an old car from 2007 and ended up having some unexpected difficulties just getting the old battery out and the new one in. BOTTOM LINE: the ASSISTANT MANAGER IS A FUCKING DICK. I parked my truck for about a week due to Thanksgiving. It wouldn't start, even when I tried jumping it off. I borrowed a battery so that I could go back to Autozone to get a new one. This battery was a year old and I've been a customer of Autozone for years so I knew the Autozone would make it right. I get inside the Autozone and was helped my the Assistant Manager. I didn't get his name but he's tall and weighs about 240. He was a rude fucking prick. I explained what happened and he very rudely and condescendingly asked if I left something on. I told him no, the truck was left parked. He then, in a dickhead tone asked me if I'm sure I didn't leave anything on. Mother fucker, are you calling me a liar? He then told me that what I was telling him was unusual. Like he knows. He's not a mechanic or an electrical engineer. He's a retail slug that couldn't do any better. Assistant Manager at Autozone is his peak in life. Not only was Jonathan extremely kind and patient, his customer service was out of this world. One look at me and you can tell that I'm not a car guy. I wish I was, but no. I'm not sure if that was the reason, or if they are just super helpful, but as soon as I walked in the door someone asked if they could help me find what I was looking for. I told him and was taken right to what I needed for my tail light. He picked it up, handed it to me, and ushered me to the the checkout area. The lady at the checkout was very nice and I was on my way in about two minutes. Before going in I expected to find myself wandering around for 20 minutes before having to track down someone who didn't really want to help, but it was actually the opposite. I just wanted to convey thanks to Donny and Ryan for helping my daughter who attends UNT. When the battery went bad on her car, Donny and Ryan searched the different store inventories for which store had the battery and requested it be delivered to their store near UNT. That way, my daughter only had a travel a few miles with a bad battery to Autozone. They also worked with me (concerned Dad) from California so I could purchase the battery remotely and just have her come in to get it switched out. Upon her arrival, Ryan handled the final paperwork and Aden was good enough to remove/replace battery. They were a great team and relieved some anxiety on our part of our daughter driving around with a bad battery. I've been here many times in the past for simple headlight replacements.....but this time I needed a daytime headlight replaced. After an unconcerned employee couldn't reach it, telling me I needed to take to mechanic and pay $50 to get it taken apart, I get in my car to leave only to find my left turn signal is now blinking extremely fast and when I get home I find out both my FRONT headlight as well as my tail break light is ALSO out now. What the hell did this idiot do to my car??? Immediately take it back - the employee who helped me is on the phone. So acting manager (I assume from other bad reviews about him) starts quizzing me on it, acting like I'm being difficult or confusing and defending the employee without even looking at my car, "well that sounds like an electrical issue and nothing he would have done"....then that employee gets off the phone and says let's go take a look. Then tells me that he unplugged something but didn't wanna screw it up more by replugging (???) and now that it's replugged everything is back to normal again. At which point I had already bought a normal headlight so.....after returning it and then not having sufficient change in the drawers I'm left having 2 hours of my time wasted and having lost some money for literally no reason other than their incompetence. All this bullshit aside - what was most frustrating was how all three male employees throughout my experience would just joke around with each other as if I wasn't even there....all the while being extremely rude and condescending towards me. I'm extremely upset with my experience here and I would highly suggest taking your business elsewhere read more
