Having dead battery issues with my car, so yesterday morning I went surfing on the 'net for a battery replacement. Found this parts chain (autozone.com) that claimed to offer free battery testing, AND a free charge, if battery came up 'good' on the test. Free testing is most everywhere, but a FREE charge? Not so much. I had a hunch the battery might be good, and phoned the Concord store to confirm both offers as legit. Hot damn, it was true, so I drove right over there. Had a senior moment and forgot my toolbox, but no problem; Auto Zone loaned me theirs at no charge. The battery tested 'good', and the recharge took less than an hour (this store is located in a shopping plaza, with another plaza across the street; plenty to do during the interim). I would be remiss without mentioning that the store was super busy, as one might expect on a Friday. Yet, all five staff members I encountered were extremely helpful. And as I observed, they did their best to ensure that nobody had to wait any longer than necessary for service. I found that most impressive, and tip my cap to those staffers, as well as management (it all starts at the top). This is the store I'll patronize when the time comes to replace my car battery, and for any other auto part needs in between. They earned my business yesterday, big-time. read more
