I've Used Mom's Garage for extensive repairs on two vehicles. The owner was willing to work with me after an accident and helped get me back on the road with some used parts and minor bodywork, not the 5k worth of work suggested by the insurance adjuster. Go in often and Doug and Bill remember your name, they really care about you and your family not your $$$ - the parking lot is always packed so they certainly don't need the business. We've been taking our cars to Mom's Garage for over a decade. We discovered it when our child attended the daycare next door when Doug owned the garage. He always did great work, at reasonable prices. Now Jim owns the garage and he has worked hard to uphold the reputation Doug built. Jim's advice has saved us thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs and upkeep of our vehicles. Recently, my husband noticed a slipping in his car. Jim gave him advice and diagnosed the problem as a bad rod. But said to wait until the check engine light went on to know which rod needed to be replaced (rather than replace them all at a bigger cost). I went in with an electrical problem. I was told that the part was vehicle specific (indeed VIN specific). The part was dealer only ($500) would cost another $100 to install, and yet another $100 for the dealership to program. I was told this by both the service writer and the mechanic. I try to go to Kelley Street garage whenever I can, but they are always booked up. Luckily, Mom's Garage is great too. They're straightforward with me and honest about how much and how long a job will take. They book up as well, but I can usually get them to see me within two days. read more

Referred here by a friend and made the appt for my 2007 Suburban. It needed some routine maintenance as well as a overall check out - at 112K miles I wanted to know what needed attention and what could wait. Brought car in and the guy at the desk (not the owner) was so f'en rude, I don't even know why I stayed other than my car was dead. Check engine light was on and my signal relay was dead. $500.00 later (i needed a speed sensor, a plate exhaust and a new signal relay. A week later, the signal relay died again and when I called, the owner was so rude. Mind you, they had my car for three days. I would NEVER go back there. When i called about the check engine coming on again, he got really mean and said well you'll have to keep it here. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN The owner (I think his name is Doug) was just as rude. When I told him the problem was not resolved with the 'new' signal relay and I wanted my money back, he said I would have to leave it so they could look at everything again. Not sure why this post isn't showing on the overall rating....the people have a right to hear negative comments about this horrible establishment! Brought my car to this garage for a new alternator and got it back barely running....there solution was that I needed a new distributor!!? I took of the distributor cap of only to find that the seal had been REMOVED!!!! This essentially rendered the car useless when there is any moisture in the air....the kind of thing that would make a sucker return to this LESS THAN HONEST establishment. I think they are very nice and they do a great job.The only thing I don't like is their price. It is much higher than other garages and I know other garages that also do a great job and charge less,so that is why I will not go to their garage anymore.My money is tight and I can not afford their prices. read more

Ive had them service my car several times over the years and noticed that they charge for "environmental impact fees" and also shop supplies They add up to quite a bit and sometimes $20 or more per service. The state or Department of Environmental Services says they do not enforce these costs and they are probably for oil and or disposal of harmful products for the earth, or just for added profit. Doug, the owner, can be very short and is not really a people person and does not like to talk about these fees or negotiate them. If you decide to go here for work, I would make sure you ask what these fees are for and also make sure the work they do is agreed upon first and for an agreed cost. read more

I had an amazing experience at Mom's Garage!!! Not sure why the other person didn't and I have a very difficult time believing what was stated. I brought my car in for minor repairs and not only were very competitive in the pricing, but they went over a checklist with me as to what was coming up for general maintenance, gave me an estimate and suggested when I should have it done by. I brought the estimate to another garage that was closer to home and he said there was no way he could do what they we're suggesting at the price Mom's was offering. They were very nice to me and treated me like a person - didn't try to take advantage because I'm a lady (as I've experienced at other places). And my car runs perfectly!
